Day of Disco

Summary:

Valentine's Day has come around for Izuku and Mina.

And the two decide to go on a disco date!

Notes:

Hi!

So, I plan to release five total one-shots throughout the course of the day. Three are completely finished right now, being Mina, Momo, and Mei, and then I'm finishing up two more, being for Nejire and Jirou! I plan to get those out before Valentine's Day is over.

And, of course, what better place to start with than Mina?

So, yeah. I hope you enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Alright, lay it on us, kero,” Tsu croaked as she entered Midoriya’s room, casually strolling over to his bed and plopping down on it. Soon after, Todoroki, Iida, and Uraraka followed suit, each deciding to take over one spot each of Midoriya’s room. Todoroki sat at the table on the floor, Iida took Midoriya’s swivel chair, and Uraraka just outright jumped on Midoriya for the love of the game, forcing him to deal with her weight when she knew damn well she could’ve used her quirk to not be inconveniencing him.

“Uh…what?” Midoriya blankly asked, deadpanning at all of his friends that’d just decided to invade his room out of nowhere. “I was trying to look through my closet, thank you very much.”

“Borrrringgggg,” Uraraka groaned, still all over him as she rolled her eyes. “That doesn’t sound like ordering me some food for delivery, y’know.”

“I don’t feel like walking all the way to the gates of U.A. to grab your food, Uraraka-san,” Midoriya snorted, and both Todoroki and Iida shuddered at the memory of Uraraka beating them in rock-paper-scissors, therefore forcing them to fetch her meal for her. “Anyways, why are all of you here?”

“I got curious about what you and Ashido-san are going to be doing for Valentine’s day,” Todoroki raised his hand and admitted it first.

Iida cleared his throat and pushed up his glasses in just the right way so that his glasses did the thing, “I as well.”

“...Did you rope them into this, Uraraka-san?” Midoriya asked, legitimately curious, and to his surprise, she shook her head.

“No, they were actually just legitimately curious!” Uraraka explained with a cheeky smile, and it was horrible, the way that Uraraka had corrupted two of his other close friends into having this sort of interest in his relationship with Mina.

Not like he was blaming them. Considering what he’d been doing with Mina in terms of setting people up together in relationships, it was a little silly that he was partially judging Todoroki and Iida for doing an incredibly mild version of what he was doing.

“...How about you, Nee-chan?” Midoriya turned to Tsu, who preened in pride at the fact that Midoriya had finally gotten around to just calling her that at this rate.

(More on that another day.)

“...A little,” she shrugged with a smile on her face. “But if you’re not gonna tell them about it, I’m not gonna force you to tell me.”

“Stop lying.”

“Yeah, I’d force you to tell me, kero.”

“See?”

Uraraka cleared her throat, reminding Midoriya that she was, in fact, still physically impeding him as she asked, “So, what are you two going to do, anyways?”

“I’m gonna take her to a disco club,” Midoriya explained with a happy smile on his face. “‘Cause she likes dancing!”

“...She likes breakdancing and things like that, Izuku-chan, kero,” Tsu corrected, trying to get more information out of him, because she knew damn well he was aware of her dance tastes. “Besides, are there even disco clubs out there anymore? I thought that was like, a few eons ago.”

“Yeah, there are, actually!” Midoriya turned around to look at her with a bright grin. “I was looking for any other types of dancing that the two of us could get into, and disco came up! There’s a parlor not too far from where I live, actually!”

“Disco…” Todoroki muttered to himself before bringing over the attention of the rest of the room. “That…involves dancing, yes? Midoriya, I didn’t know you knew how to dance other than breakdancing.”

“Uh, yes, Midoriya-kun,” Iida built off of that. “Are you sure it’s wise to bring both of you there when, to my knowledge, neither of you have done…disco before? If that’s the correct way to refer to it?”

At that, Midoriya only smiled at them.

“Well, it used to be that way,” Midoriya corrected. “But now it’s not.”

“You are?” Uraraka raised an eyebrow, finally getting off of him and joining Tsu on Midoriya’s bed. The rest of his friends shared the sentiment, because why on Earth would Midoriya Izuku of all people know anything about disco?

“Yeah! It’s a Pre–”

“Ohhhhhhhhh,” the room erupted in understanding, and at that, Midoriya felt slightly embarrassed and indignant at once.

“What do you mean?! I didn’t even say anything!” Midoriya defended himself, and in response, they all looked at him as if he wasn’t the most obvious person in the world.

“It’s a Pre-Quirk Era thing,” Todoroki started.

“So you wanted to look into it,” Iida continued.

“And then you realized that Mina-chan might like it,” Tsu kept going.

“So you wanted to ask her out to a disco date,” Uraraka finished.

As they all spoke, Midoriya turned more and more red by the second, being so obviously read like he was a goddamn book.

“GUYS!” He squeaked out, and he watched them all gain various levels of joy on their faces. Todoroki and Tsu were rather inexpressive, but he clearly saw the enjoyment they had. Iida was a bit more expressive, with a rather clear smirk on his face that he really should’ve wiped off his face. And, of course, Uraraka was sporting a fucking bright ass grin.

“Just because it’s true doesn’t mean it’s nice!” Midoriya sputtered out, reciting one of the most basic lines of all time.

“It just means that we know you really well, kero,” Tsu tried to appease him, though she couldn’t help the teasing tone slipping into her voice.

“I hate you,” Midoriya pouted at her.

“You love me.”

“Regardless,” Iida interrupted before the two of them could erupt into a full-on brawl. “Does that mean that you’re going to need help with an outfit?”

“Uraraka-san!” Midoriya whirled on her after Iida had finished his line. “Don’t tell me that you’re spreading this propaganda that I can’t dress to Iida-san, too!”

“Is it really propaganda if it’s legitimate fact, though?” Todoroki interjected, and Midoriya wasn’t even going to justify that with a response.

“Wait, kero,” Tsu interjected one more time. “You said you were looking through your closet?”

“No the hell you weren’t,” Uraraka interrupted, dragging him away from it before he could commit another war crime. “You were going to try dressing up for Mina-chan and then put on a horrible fit, weren’t you?”

“My fits are–”

“No.”

“But–”

“No.”

“I’m just trying–”

“You should stop, kero.”

“You too, Nee-chan?!”

“Oh, is Midoriya trying to make a Valentine’s Day outfit?” Todoroki interjected. “I believe I may be able to help with that, if you wouldn’t mind.”

“Thank you, Todoroki, for having some manners, unlike some people,” Midoriya glared at Uraraka and Tsu when he said that. “But I’ll work on it on my own, if that’s okay.”

Iida opened his mouth.

“...Do you really have fashion advice for me, Iida-san?”

Iida closed his mouth.

Then opened it again.

“Well, I suppose I only wear duplicates of the one outfit I wear, so it’s not like I’m one to talk,” he cleared his throat awkwardly, but he only received fond looks in return. What a hero he was.

“Well, that just means you have a 100% success rate on your fits,” Uraraka shrugged casually. “Unlike somebody here.”

“Can we stop ragging on my fashion sense! I know it’s bad,” Midoriya pouted, and Tsu croaked in laughter before getting up to ruffle his hair a bit.

“There, there, kero,” she comforted, though her tone didn’t help very much.

“So, are we helping Midoriya with his fit for when he goes with Mina to the disco club or not?” Todoroki asked, raising his hand as if he was in class. “Because I started googling what people wear to disco clubs while we were talking.”

“There we go, Todoroki-kun!” Uraraka harrumphed, and Midoriya didn’t know why she was having the audacity to look like a proud mother right then and there. “Thank God you have some brains in there!”

“Eh, Fuyumi teaches me about these things sometimes,” Todoroki shrugged, as if it was no big deal. “Layering, color coordination, the basics. Everyone knows that, though, right?”

Midoriya pointedly chose not to admit that Mina had to teach him from the ground up.

And a more evil part of his mind thought about the idea of having Mina talk to Todoroki about fashion as a whole, because, if he knew as much as he claimed, he would know what to say, but completely struggle with how to say it. The socially awkward Todoroki would stand no chance!

Ahem.

“Well, anyways, Midoriya-kun, would you like my help? I don’t mind if you’d prefer doing this on your own, though,” Todoroki stated, and Midoriya just…couldn’t refuse. Todoroki was making the active effort to reach out to him and be more social, so saying ‘no’ just wasn’t in the cards for him.

“...Fine…”

“Oh, I do have a request, though,” Todoroki interrupted before anybody went too far. “If you’re missing any clothes, would you mind if we went out to buy them?”

“,,,’We?’”

“I want to spend Endeavor’s money.”

“I’m in.”

“There is NO way I’m getting in that getup.”

“YES THERE IS, DEKU-KUN.”

“YOU CAN’T MAKE ME, URARAKA-SAN.”

“Ahem. Would the two customers fighting in the changing room please cease their behavior.”

“Is that supposed to be…fashion?”

“I am unaware of the standards of that era myself, unfortunately.”

“...You two can just say it’s ugly, kero.”

“I didn’t even choose this outfit!”

“Wait. How expensive is this?”

“About…400,000 yen, kero.”

“Oh, wonderful. Midoriya, you’re buying this.”

“ME?”

“Oh, I apologize. Midoriya, Endeavor’s buying this.”

“Good enough for me.”

“...Midoriya-kun, may I be blunt with you?”

“Iida-san, I didn’t even choose this outfit, and you know it.”

“Well, it still applies to you, so…”

“Just…lay it on me.”

“There’s no way that Ashido-san would fuck you in that.”

“Are you telling me this is the best we could do?” Uraraka threw out her hands in front of her in frustration, looking at the outfit that Midoriya had donned. “Are you sure we have to grab that 400,000 yen vest?!”

“It is essential to the outfit,” Todoroki defended, knowing full well that it wasn’t in any way helpful.

“And he’s not going to let it go, kero,” Tsu reminded Uraraka, who could only sigh in defeat. “At least hit a good pose, Izuku-chan.”

“How am I supposed to do that, nee-chan?” Midoriya sighed in exasperation, looking at himself in the mirror, raising his arms and seeing all the frills drape downwards from the sleeves. “I don’t think there’s a single pose in the world that could make this look good.”

A golden sparkly vest that had frills attached to the arms. A bright, flowery shirt that looked like it belonged to a vision of somebody on copious amounts of drugs. Pants that flowed a little too smooth, as if they were made with water itself. Shoes that were somehow pointy, wide, small, and large all at once.

And, to finish it all off, a flashy pair of glasses that didn’t have any visual effect, but most importantly had the frame end up in the shape of stars and the lenses themselves be a reddish-pink shade.

In other words, it was not something you would ever normally catch Midoriya in.

“Is there a pose that Mina-chan could make this look good in?” Uraraka smirked at him, and she instantly recognized the ‘down bad’ look in his eyes.

“All of them,” Midoriya instantly switched up.

Iida sighed, “You really need to learn to have some integrity when it comes to these opinions and these opinions when it comes to Ashido-san, you know.”

“Ehhh, I don’t think so,” Tsu interjected. “I think it’s sweet.”

“Ooh, we should send a text to Mina-chan that you have a new outfit!” Uraraka smiled.

Midoriya jumped at that, “E-Eh, I-I’d like to k-keep the outfit a secret until Valentine’s Day actually comes!”

“Oh, that’s the fun part!” Uraraka smirked, snickering a ton. “I’m just going to tell her that you have an outfit, but I won’t show her! And you can’t, either, buster!”

“But what if she asks with her cute pouty eyes?” Midoriya started panicking, because he knew just how weak he was to those.

“Give me your notebook, and I don’t give it back if you give in, kero,” Tsu responded blankly.

“I-I–”

“Shh,” Tsu put a finger to his lips to silence him. “Just let it happen, champ.”

“Meanie…”

“Okay, I sent it,” Uraraka held up her phone, shaking it just a little to signal that she sent the message to Mina.

The phone buzzed.

New Chat from ‘Mina-Chan’!

Mina-Chan: SEND

Mina-Chan: SNED

Mina-Chan: SEND SEND SNED SENSNEDSE NSD

“Already?!” Uraraka squeaked out, pure confusion and surprise in her voice. Midoriya, however, could only smile at that. He wasn’t shocked that she’d picked up so quickly on that, and really, if she hadn’t, he would’ve just assumed that she was hanging out with Hagakure or some of her other friends.

“So, what are you going to do now, kero?” Tsu prompted, more or less leaning on Midoriya so that she didn’t have to get her feet tired from all the standing.

“Oh, I’m just going to leave her on read,” Uraraka casually explained, opening up their chat and then instantly closing it.

“Isn’t that evil?” Todoroki interrupted, raising his hand yet again to get into the conversation.

“That’s the point, Todoroki-kun,” Iida clarified, having learned a bit from his interactions with the more socially-aware. Personally, he was of the opinion that he couldn’t let himself read the message and then not respond given the situation wasn’t dire enough that he couldn’t. However, at the same time…

Perhaps it was good to let them have this sort of fun.

Besides, he knew quite well that Midoriya would never turn the opportunity for Mina to be draped all over him in an attempt to get information from him. Attention from Midoriya to Midoriya was the equivalent of water to a man who’d been stranded in a desert for three weeks.

“Oh…” Todoroki trailed off, still trying to pick up on things. His mind drifted back to the book he’d rented from the library on social interactions, and hoped that he was right in assuming that this was under the category of “Playful Teasing.”

His notes said so, at least. Or, really, he thought they did.

Either way, Mina sent a few more messages. This time, it was still to Uraraka.

New Chat from ‘Mina-Chan’!

Mina-Chan: HEY

Mina-Chan: HEY I SAW U READ THAT

Mina-Chan: SNED

And, then, a few messages to Tsu.

New Chat from ‘Alien Queen’!

Alien Queen: URARAKA’S BEING MEAN TO ME!!!!!

Alien Queen: HELP

“Ahem,” Tsu cleared her throat, as if she was going to verbally respond, yet she only typed anyways.

You: No.

Alien Queen: HEY

Then, last but not least in any measure, to none other than Midoriya.

New Chat from ‘Love of My Life <3’:

Love of My Life <3: IZUUUUUU

Love of My Life <3: CAN I SEE UR FIT

Love of My Life <3: PLS PLS PLSPLSPLS ILL GIVE U SO MANY KISSES

Midoriya flushed at that, and, God, she was really making a good offer here. How was he supposed to refuse that?

Well, luckily for him (and unluckily for Mina), he didn’t have to, as Tsu stole his phone out of his hands just as he was reading the messages, and decided to type out her own response.

You: I stole Izuku-chan’s phone. He’s not going to be able to respond to you know.

You: Good luck.

Love of My Life <3: HEY RUDE

“You’re really going to wear this outfit there?” Uraraka gawked, because she’d crashed over at Midoriya’s home for Friday Night. She was more or less friend-hopping, because it wasn’t as though she wasn’t welcome home. She had just planned to hang out with Midoriya on Friday Night, Tsu on Saturday, and then Iida on Sunday.

“Yes, yes I am,” Midoriya flaunted the outfit, doing a little spin before hitting a pose that somehow released sparkles from his body in a way that even Aoyama would be jealous. The horrendous fit had, of course, grown on Midoriya, because he was wonderful at doing something like getting used to a horrible outfit.

“And you don’t think you’re going to get there and think that it’s possibly the worst first known to mankind and realize that you’re not built for this?” Uraraka prompted with a raise of her eyebrow. She knew her best friend very well. She’d even dare that, in some categories, she knew him better than even Mina did. Of course, not in the physical form, because she was not trying to kiss Midoriya.

“I’m not, I’m not!” He defended himself.

“...Go ahead and tell me when you realize the error of your ways,” Uraraka smirked at him.

“I won’t,” Midoriya playfully scoffed at her, dismissing her words.

Chat with ‘Big Back Uraraka’!

You: I have realized the error of my ways.

Big Back Uraraka: Told you

Midoriya stood outside of the disco club as he waited for Mina, and the rising noise coming from the club had told him that he was not built for this. He looked the part, but he sure as hell did not feel the part.

He’d definitely gotten quite a few remarks from other people entering, which was nice. It helped him feel a bit better about things, but he didn’t really know if he was actually being fashionable in the standards of disco or not.

Though, at the same time, the people who were also entering the club were definitely far older than he was. He’d be shocked if any of them, barring quirk modifications to their body, were anything under 10 years older than he was.

He looked down nervously at his phone, reopening the conversation that he’d had with Mina about how she was almost there, and only a few minutes away.

How much longer would he have to bear the sins of wearing something so flashy?

Maybe he could give the entire fit to Aoyama after it was all done? He wasn’t sure, but it seemed like something he’d appreciate.

“Oh. My. GOD!” He heard a very familiar voice squeal, and he felt like freezing, because the thought of Mina seeing this outfit felt very different from the fact that it was actually happening now.

“YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS, IZU!” Mina squealed out even louder, and he didn’t know if he wanted to look into her eyes, because there was no way he could handle her giving him all the love in the world while he was wearing a fit this fuck-ass ugly.

“WE’RE MATCHING!” She squealed at her absolute loudest, and more or less tackled him into a hug, and BOY, did those words shock him into oblivion.

“...Matching?” Midoriya squeaked out, half out of being hugged like crazy by Mina and half out of sheer incredulity.

Once she’d pulled away from him, he understood what she was saying.

Because she also wore a golden sparkly vest, and instead of the bright flowery shirt he wore, she sported a neon pink-patterned shirt that frankly looked like it belonged on the floor of an arcade. Her pants were just as flowy, but somehow even more flashy. And, to top it all off, her signature shoes that she wore everywhere.

Wait–

“Where the hell did you get that vest?!” He pointed frantically at it, because he knew damn well that that was basically the same vest he was wearing.

“Oh, this?” She grabbed the inner sides of it, tugging on it to accentuate it. “Yaomomo-chan got it for me! She said that she’d cover anything that I wanted to buy for our Valentine’s Day date!” She smiled so hard that it reached her eyes in a uniquely Mina-type of way, and Midoriya was about to fold like crazy for it.

That said, it did make sense. Of all their classmates, Yaoyorozu was, in fact, the only person who could out-money Todoroki so easily. It was probably pocket change to her, when he really thought about it.

Still…

Midoriya couldn’t help but burst out in laughter, because what do you mean the two of them were wearing practically matching outfits to their Disco Valentine’s Day Date?

“Are you ready, Izu?” Mina linked arms with him, planting a loving kiss on his cheek, trying her best to comfort him because she could tell he was still a bit nervous.

“I-I think so,” he tried reassuring himself, walking with Mina to the entrance.

The bouncer, and really, they had no idea why there had to be a bouncer, raised an eyebrow at them, “Uh…you two sure that this is the place you’re coming to?”s

Mina showed him the tickets, and he genuinely seemed taken aback. Midoriya couldn’t really blame him, though. Again, it seemed like the two of them were legitimately the youngest to be interested in disco by at least a decade.

“...”

He was wordless as he stepped aside, gesturing his arm for the two of them to come in.

As they passed through, though, however, he gave them a silent nod of approval.

“They’ve got the spirit of disco,” he muttered under his breath.

Either way, as the two of them entered the club, they were suddenly bombarded by a sudden increase in noise, the flashiness of the lights, the dance floor, all of it.

Mina breathed in the air, and surprisingly, it didn’t smell like an absurd amount of sweat and old people reeking their stench. Instead, it smelled like a PAR-TAY.

(It smelled like sweat to some degree, but let her have her fun, damn it!)

“U-Uh, M-Mina, I-I don’t know if this is a good idea,” Midoriya felt a little concerned, seeing all the eyes on them. He knew that Mina was definitely thriving in this environment, but unfortunately for him, he was not Mina.

“Oh, c’mon, Izu, it’ll be fun!” Mina assured him, tugging on him a little bit towards the dance floor.

Or, at least, trying to tug him towards the dance floor. Unfortunately for her, he was really strong. Of course, she knew that. Underneath that ridiculous outfit of his, he was unbelievably muscular, and if it weren’t for quirks (like Shoji’s, for instance), she wouldn’t be surprised if his base strength was at the top of the class’s, even compared to Kirishima’s.

…She had to make the comparison fair somehow, okay?! Including his even more ridiculously overpowered quirk into the mix would’ve ruined any credibility of being like “Oh, yeah, he’s still strong, but not nuts, you know?” ‘Cause, no, it was nuts!

Ahem.

All that was to say one thing.

He was not budging. In fact, it didn’t even seem like Mina was anywhere close to making him budge.

She let go quickly, worry starting to fill her eyes as she made sure that she wasn’t risking going over his boundaries.

“Hey, Izu, are you okay?” She leaned in and asked quietly, though still loud enough for him to hear her over the loud music that was blaring throughout the club.

“...Do we have to go into the center now?” Midoriya quietly squeaked out, and Mina’s eyes softened from worry to pure care for him.

“We don’t have to right now, Babe,” Mina calmly assured him, keeping her voice mostly level but soft enough for him to know that she wasn’t upset with him. “We don’t have to at all if you don’t want to. I just wanna make sure that you can enjoy this too, you know?”

Midoriya seemed a little hesitant, and frankly, if she was in his shoes, she could see where he was coming from. He was the one to suggest going on a disco date in the first place, and she knew that it was because he thought she would love it, and for him to start being the one nervous about following through with it?

She would’ve felt horrible in his shoes, even though she rationally knew that he would’ve been completely fine if she was a little uncomfortable, and that his priority would’ve been her over the date itself a billion times over.

But, she also knew Izuku. Hell, she knew him incredibly well at this point, probably better than almost anyone in the world barring maybe his Mom, because, well, duh, she was his mom.

And she knew that if she just fully stopped him right then and there without him having the autonomy to fully give in, he would’ve felt worse by the fact that she had to coddle him.

So, she waited a few moments for him to fully decide. Because, to her, if he could genuinely fully decide not to whatsoever, then it was definitely something important enough to her that he was starting to set that boundary for herself. That, in itself, was something she felt was true love, too, that trust in her and them as a couple.

“...Well, I think it’s okay enough to dance here first,” Midoriya eventually decided, and she shot him a soft smile. “...Then, maybe we could move to the center later?”

At this, Mina couldn’t help but giggle and nudge him lightly, “Let’s start thinking about getting to the first step, Cutie~”

This time, she tugged a little bit softer, and this time, he followed along, letting her bring him to the outskirts of the main dance area.

Midoriya had to take a deep breath as he saw the people around him. Most of them were clearly people who’d come here on their own, which he personally couldn’t ever see himself doing. They were people who’d danced with complete randoms, because they had just talked to too many people to have reasonably all come as a group. Or was that just him not knowing social norms in the world of disco enthusiasts?

And they were dressed for the part, too. Perhaps he felt a little too subconscious right now, but it might’ve been the case that he was being too flashy for the occasion. They were definitely wearing some unique wear that you wouldn’t ever see somebody wear in the current era, but it wasn’t anywhere near as extravagant as what he and Mina were sporting together.

Were they looking at him? Were they looking at her? Hey, no! That’s not allowed! They’re not allowed to look at his girlfriend like that! Wait, but, no, is he being too possessive? Isn’t it a kind of good thing, because, really, there are those people that could want her, but she still chose him and nobody else? But, also, isn’t it natural to just want to be able to stop people from eyeing the woman you love?

“You’re thinking too much, Izu!” Mina interrupted his train of thought, grabbing his hand and starting to tug him around a little bit, and she giggled even more as she saw him stumble a bit. “We didn’t watch all those videos for nothing!”

It was true. The two of them, to prep, had done a ton of research on the topic of disco. Songs that the era held near and dear to their heart, exploring the online resources of modern-day disco enthusiasts, popular artists of the time, and of course, the dance moves associated with them.

It was the main thing that’d drawn Izuku to the idea of bringing disco up to Mina. Of course, breakdancing was her specialty and all, but he just couldn’t fathom the idea of her not wanting to learn other types of dance. He remembered just how lively she was when Momo had offered to teach her and a few other classmates about some high-end formal dances that she’d had to learn, or perhaps when Jirou showed them all videos of how people moved in mosh pits, not just at full-blown concerts, but also at house shows and the like.

…Which, of course, naturally meant that they’d put in a lot of practice for it.

Which, of course, really meant that Midoriya had to put in a lot of practice to get used to it while Mina more or less picked it up as if it was second nature. Perhaps it was like coding, where you could readily apply skills learned from other languages to the general process of learning how to code in a specific language. Maybe it was the same for dance? Or maybe Mina was just incredibly adept at it?

He wasn’t too sure.

“Trust in your hard work!” She reassured him, and it felt like she’d activated a sort of sleeper-agent-esque instinct in him. It was very Izuku, really, to trust his hard work instead of himself. His mind might’ve lied to him, but the hours of practice and endurance didn’t.

Slowly, he started to get into the groove of things, starting to feel out the music and the vibe that Mina was emitting.

(And also memorizing every single moment he could of seeing her dance like that. She knew that she was dancing for the love of the game, but part of him couldn’t help but dream about the idea that she was dancing to show off to him.)

(...On Mina’s side, that was entirely true. Yes, she was dancing for the love of it. But she was also dancing because she wanted him to think about her being pretty.)

Anyways, his movements were still a little clunky. He was like an older car running on diesel, because he was definitely taking his time to prep and warm up, so to speak.

But he was getting there. When he did get warmed up, he wasn’t nearly the sort of dancer Mina was, and that was okay with them, because he was still the sort of dancer who could stand by her side.

Though, to Mina, he would always be the dancer she’d want standing by her side.

However, the two were so enamored with each other and the process of becoming one process through the music that flowed through them that the whistles that started surrounding them almost shocked them out of their flow.

Mina recognized it first, and once she did, she felt that energy flow with her, her energy growing bolder by the second as her moves became flashier, yet still retained the same smoothness from before.

Midoriya wasn’t too far behind, though. He felt it like a barrage of attacks, as though he was being swung at from every angle. The whistles cheering them on, the crowd that was slowly starting to surround them, the excitement in the air.

He didn’t know quite how to process it, because, unlike the times that a lot of energy and attention had been focused on him where he didn’t know what the general vibe was, there was nothing mistakable about what this was. This was hype, this was excitement, this was liveliness. It was somebody wanting to see more of him, not less.

Now, of course, that sort of excitement naturally came with the pressure of expectations, of rising up to the challenge.

If Midoriya hadn’t done everything he had in this past year, he probably would’ve fumbled, felt that pressure absolutely crush him.

Yet, he had done everything he’d gone through. He’d managed to be the boyfriend of one of the most amazing people ever, and to him, the most amazing person ever. He’d managed to get into U.A. and inherit the quirk of the literal Symbol of Peace. He’d managed to protect Kota and save Eri from Muscular and Overhaul, respectively.

In other words, he’d already risen to expectations far higher than this damn disco floor.

(No, it was not ridiculous that he had to hype himself up via recollection of life-or-death scenarios.)

Which meant…

This wasn’t nearly as much to him.

So, in an act of passion, while syncing up with Mina, he felt himself get amped up further and get in the groove with her further, reaching out to her.

Not one to back down, Mina gave in to him, grabbing his wrist and pulling him into her, and the two of them fully gave in to the music here. There was no plan here, and now, they were forced to rely on nothing but each other here. They weren’t dancing together as separate entities anymore, but dancing as one. They were dancing with each other now, not just dancing alongside each other.

Izuku was Mina’s, here, and Mina was Izuku’s. The two of them couldn’t speak to each other in the middle of the dance, they couldn’t think about what the other was thinking, they couldn’t plan anything in advance from here.

All they could do was feel each other out. They felt each other’s touch, hands on each other, passionate grasps at each other as they moved each other, moved with one another.

They felt their feet shift, Mina’s arm wrapping around Midoriya’s waist, and the flow of their vests and pants against and with one another, like crashing waves in the same ocean. Outfits pressing up together, and they felt their contact even more, and at this rate, their stamina might’ve both been tested. Sure, Midoriya had the stamina of a God, but these movements were admittedly still a little unfamiliar with him. He hadn’t had the muscle memory ingrained in him yet, and the exertion was increased from that. On the other hand, Mina had the muscle memory down pat, but her stamina wasn’t as unbelievable as Midoriya’s.

They felt their breaths become heavier against one another, and occasionally, they could feel their partner’s chest pound harder.

Then, as the very end of the song came along, the cheers came to the loudest they’d ever been, and Mina knew what she had to do, because their moves had been so extravagant that they’d slowly wormed their way to the middle of the dance floor.

And she was going to show off her boyfriend to the whole crowd.

Right at the end of the song, she wrapped her left arm around Izuku’s waist, spun him around twice before pulling him close, capturing his lips with her own, holding his left hand with her right and smiling into the kiss.

She savored the sounds of the crowd exploding into cheers for the two of them. She savored the attention that they’d brought to the table. She savored the way that the lights seemed to be all on them, based on the warmth hitting her skin. Or was that the warmth from kissing Izuku?

Speaking of.

Of all the things that’d happened so far, she couldn’t believe how much she was savoring this kiss with him. The warmth of his lips against hers. The love that was being passed between them right now. The way his arms started wrapping around her neck, leaning into the kiss even more. The way he loved her.

As the two of them pulled away from one another, dazed smiles on their faces, they were showered in the praise of the other disco enthusiasts with them, with some even throwing flowers at them (though they had no idea where they had those flowers stashed away). Yet, still, with the lights on them, they couldn’t help but be fully enamored with each other.

“Happy Valentine’s Day, Izu,” she breathlessly whispered to him, letting go of his hand to softly cup his cheek, loving how soft it felt in her hand.

“Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!” The crowd chanted around them, clearly hyped up by the energy that the couple had brought to the club.

Well, they definitely didn’t need to be told twice.

It didn’t take much longer after that for them to get acquainted with the other regulars of the club. Naturally, they were, in fact, much older than either Izuku or Mina was, but that didn’t matter. New friends were friends, and they were definitely excited to know that disco was still staying alive through the new generation.

But, of course, the night had to come to an end eventually, and the newly deemed “Disco Duo” had made their way back to Izuku’s room. Primarily because Mina wanted to steal Izuku’s clothes to wear to bed after her plan was finished.

Wait.

Her plan?

As they entered the dorms, there were still a few people awake, though not many. Mainly the main culprits. Kaminari and Kirishima, still gaming together. Tokoyami was brooding in the corner, reading one of his books.

(Side note: Midoriya found it really cool how Tokoyami was getting into book binding. It seemed very…him.)

They made some small talk with them, talking a little bit about how the disco club went, the dances they did, and whether the food they served was any good or not.

(It was good. Just horribly overpriced. You win some, you lose some.)

But, really, Mina just couldn’t wait to bring Izuku to his room, so she did end up choosing to cut the conversation a little shorter than normal. Not like Kaminari was complaining, though. He couldn’t afford to get his ass whooped in the game any harder.

(He would soon get his ass whooped much harder.)

Either way, as Izuku and Mina finally got to his room, he let out a sigh of relief. Don’t get him wrong, he absolutely loved going on a date with Mina, and even talking with his friends in class. But, at the same time, there really wasn’t anything better than being with her alone, just the two of them.

He would very quickly learn how much better being alone with her compared to everything else was.

For the moment that he finally plopped down to sit on his bed, he didn’t even have a moment to loosen up before Mina sat on his lap, a loving smile on her face.

“Thank you for taking me on that date, Izu,” she peppered a few kisses all over his face. “And thank you for the wonderful Valentine’s Day.”

“Of course, Mina,” Izuku kissed both of her cheeks in response, before pulling her closer onto his lap. “But…can I change into some comfy clothes, pretty please?”

Then, something odd happened.

Normally, when she smirked at him, it was playful and teasing. It was normally followed up by her making some sort of silly remark that was meant to make him blush, or maybe her nudging him here and there to accentuate her point.

But this smirk was not like that at all.

It was…

Suave.

No.

Sultry.

It was…

Hungry.

No.

Ravenous.

“No,” she simply answered. “No, you can’t, I-zu-ku~” Then, very gently, she leaned into him further and pressed a kiss.

Not to his cheek. Not to his forehead. Not even on his lips.

But right on his jawline.

Directly followed up by a kiss at the top of his neck.

Midoriya shuddered as he felt a wave of pleasure run down his spine, and he felt his grip on Mina tighten subconsciously.

…Gulp.

“M-Mina…?” He whimpered, and, man, he couldn’t help but feel glad that she was the one he was whimpering for.

No! Bad Izuku! He told himself, resisting the urges that were popping up. He didn’t want to make Mina uncomfortable here.

Despite the fact that she was initiating it…

She pressed her lips against his neck again, and her hands found their way resting against his chest before leaning back for a moment.

“Izu…” she whispered huskily, and, God, did that tone do things to him. “Are you okay to keep going? I’m not going to force you.”

He felt his voice catch in his throat, and something else catch in his pants.

His heart was racing as his mind processed the question that his body clearly had a response for. He wanted to make sure that he was fully ready for all of this, because he wanted to put his everything towards this. He wasn’t going to only put half of who he was into this decision.

Part of him couldn’t believe that they were about to do this after literally just going to a disco club. Part of him couldn’t believe that they were about to start this wearing these absolutely insane fits, because even as she sat on his lap and she looked partially ready to pounce at this rate, they were still wearing their absurdly flashy vests and long, flowy pants. This was what was turning them on?

Yes, yes it was.

So, after a few seconds, a few heart-pounding seconds, he whimpered again, “Yes, please.”

Then, as if they were possessed, both his mind and body moved forward and put his own lips onto Mina’s neck, eliciting a certain noise from her.

That was all Mina needed to show him why he wouldn’t be able to change into comfy clothes.

Because, as her hands reached for the hem of his vest, he wasn’t going to have any for the time being.

And, well, the rest?

That’s for them to know.

Notes:

Yes, they finally got their freak on. Decided to finally establish that they'd done it instead of just dancing around that for a while. So, yeah. I'm not writing allat rn because I haven't written smut in eons and I literally did it for a joke once so that was goofy 😭 Besides, I'm too much of a fluff addict to probably properly write anything like that rn, anyways.

I had a lot of fun writing this. I don't dance (duh), if you couldn't tell, so I really just went on the vibes and emotions of this all.

Also...yeah. This was super inspired by Yakuza 0. Ever since I Platinumed that game, I had always liked thinking of Izuku and Mina doing some disco together.

Anyways! This is just one of the Valentine's Day oneshots I'm making, because I've got others on the way! I hope you enjoyed this one!

Sincerely,

SpiritBloodDragon
