Work Text:

A line of Flora floating through the air passed above his head, their red hair-dos flapping in the soft wind. It was spring, when the grass stood back up from carrying the heavy weight of snow, and trees began to come alive again with green. Or pink! Some of them were pink!

He thought to himself, that maybe, he could go ask someone to come hang out with him! At that moment, he got an idea.

Kirby reached into his open pocket, and lifted out an electronic brick with a single antenna jutting directly upward from its top. There were about a dozen circular, rubbery buttons on a single side, arranged neatly in a grid. It was a weird little thing that he didn't really understand, and he had forgotten where he found it.

His finger pushed into most of them, his breath still as he stared. Did he remember it right? He didn't even know if anyone else in Dream Land had one of the things, so if he forgot the numbers, he wouldn't be able to use the strange device in any real way. He waited, and waited, and waited, until it started ringing quietly.

"Hii!," He squealed into the brick's microphone. Then, a voice not entirely too dissimilar to his own came out from it.

"Kiiiirbeeeey! How are things back home?"

That was Ribbon, alright. Already, he could imagine her meek yet warm smile as she rushed over to hug him. He liked when she did that. "They're good, um, very nice..." A blush came across his face as he thought about her.

"Oh, that's great!" She giggled. "You know, I was thinking, right? Right, like, we should go eat together, like maybe..." Her voice cut off, as she tried to think of some place. "Oh, I know! Wait, no..." Ribbon fiddled about with her mind for some time, crossing off every place she could think of. Except, of course, for one.

"Hey, I could come over to your place!"

Kirby's eyes widened and grew as he stared at the odd machine. "Ooooh, yeah! Let's do that! When are you visiting?"

"Today!"

"But I don't have anything prepared!"

"I'll make something for you then, sweetie!" Then she cut off.

He would be very, very busy tonight.
