Chapter Text

Eliot was in for a surprise.
Parker's gaze lingered on the new plant on her desk.
Eliot had lied to her. He’d said that he wasn’t one for hearts and flowers. And yet, he’d ordered some for her and Sophie.
Parker snorted. She didn’t really understand why Sophie believed Nate had gifted her those roses. Pfft.
Parker had taken one look at Eliot and known it had been him. But she had kept quiet, because Eliot hadn’t taken credit. He’d only smiled smugly and then left the bar.
Elio probably had a reason for not saying anything. Parker could understand having a reason, even if she didn’t really understand the point of sending flowers.
Well, now that she thought about it, getting the flytrap had felt kind of nice, though.
When she thought about it more, she figured that maybe the reason was that Eliot wanted her and Sophie to be happy. Was that a valid reason? Parker wasn’t really good with these feelings-squishy things.
She stopped in her tracks. Eliot had no one who would make him happy in return.
Parker gnawed on her bottom lip. Since she was the only one who knew, she would have to make him happy in return.
You could totally do something nice for a friend on Valentine’s Day, right? She was happy when Eliot was happy, even if not in the pretzel way, if that made sense.
She thought hard, until she came up with an idea. She would surprise him for Valentine’s Day. Not a plant, obviously. He had those in his vegetable garden.
Oh. Cooking made him happy.
Parker hopped off the back of the couch. She would get him a knife. And a card. Good thing she now knew how to design greeting cards.
On Valentine’s Day, she arranged the gift on his bed and left Eliot’s bedroom smiling. She often struggled with these things, but this time she was confident she’d gotten it right.
Eliot was in for a surprise.
