Work Text:
Angela knelt, staring at the cold cobblestone ground, wings flaring.
“I have done as you asked. No one else is injured. But continuing the fight was unwise.” She looked up at her successor. “You could have gotten yourself hurt.”
They had just taken down four Null Sector Stalkers. It was difficult, but they were dealt with quickly. And thankfully there were no casualties.
The display of obedience such as the simple act of kneeling from such a close friend felt a little odd to Lian. Yes, she was the scion of House Aico, so being formal was absolutely necessary for anyone who spoke to her. But at the same time, this was just Angela.
Not a guard or civilian.
Simply just Angela and her supernal beauty. Metal Valkyrie wings and all.
Lian stared back down at Angela and smiled. “I am aware. But at least for now I am unharmed, right?” The white-haired girl took a small step back, “And you may stand.”
The medic obeyed. She had a few more inches of height over the other woman. “Yes, Lian, but promise me that you will take your health more seriously next time.” She gazed pleadingly and softly at the heiress, “please?”
Those saddened blue eyes pulled at Lian’s heartstrings.
She nodded her head, “Yes, I will try to be more careful for you.”
Angela returned the heiress back to House Aico after a while of them talking. They talked about war, what it was like outside of the Aico Forest, and so forth.
Recently, they’ve been connecting more. It was probably because of the battle that happened near the mines.
A handful of Omnic Breachers and Nulltroopers were spotted there. Angela saved Lian’s life that day, and ever since, the scion admired her hard work.
Being a field medic didn’t seem easy.
The two headed out to one of the balconies of House Aico and faced the sky while staying a fair distance away from each other. The air was slightly cooler now, and the sunset was a beautiful mix of orange and fuchsia.
“It's always nice of you to visit, Angela. You should do it more often.”
“I really should. I truly enjoy spending time with you, Lian. I'm assuming you must resume your heiress duties right away, yes?”
“Unfortunately.”
The Magistrate always had a large amount of tasks that needed Lian and the rest of Aico, especially with all of this scourging from the Omnics. The heiress was growing tired of it, but people needed her help.
“Well, I will let you get back to business.” The blonde woman turned to face Lian. “Remember, take care of yourself out there.”
Their eyes were locked onto each other now.
“You as well.”
Angela stepped forward and gently grasped one of Lian's hands, and brought it up to her lips to give the top of it a soft kiss. “Goodnight, Lian.”
Oh.
Uhm?
Did she just..??
Her hand was released after a few seconds and Lian immediately (though she tried her hardest not to show it) missed the warmth.
“Good… Goodnight, Angela..” The younger woman hadn't noticed how warm her face and neck had become. “I’ll be looking forward to seeing you and your guild again soon.”
Angela smiled. “Likewise.”
And just like that, Angela glided down towards the large gates, passing by a flock of guards who gave her a bow before opening it for her. People in her guild were all waiting for her on the other side.
And now, poor Lian was left there on the balcony alone, absolutely thunderstruck as she watched the new love of her life leave the premises.
“I don't think I should have done that.. She didn't speak for about ten seconds.” Angela rubbed her temples and sighed heavily. “She probably thinks that I am weird.”
Ana looked at her incredulously. “You're kidding, right?”
“No?”
Lena and Fareeha absolutely lost it and began cackling at Angela's dismay, because of which she looked at them in utter confusion.
“What is it? Why are you all laughing at me?” Her voice was becoming slightly soft and timid.
Cole patted her on the shoulder with his metal hand. “You've just got a lot to learn, doc.”
