Even cheesy sounds romantic when it's you

Summary:

A small drabble on Pond Phuwin dancing in the rain on Valentine's day 😉🩵

Work Text:

Third POV:

" Orchids? For me?'

" Yes. Do you like them?"

" I- Yes. I love them!"

Rain. Slow and steady. The scent of petrichor.

The whole scenario was straight out of a romance book.

" Why orchids though?" Phuwin asked as he took the flowers from Pond.

" Because Blue orchids represent beauty in their own way. Roses are too over rated anyways. But these orchids? They are rare. They are unique. Just like you." Pond answered with a grin.

The sound of rain pelting on the pavement.
A skip of a heart beat.

" Isn't it too cheesy?"

" Believe me when I say I want to be cheesy with you sweetheart."

Phuwin smiled. He wanted it too. He wanted to do everything crying with Pond.

He wanted to hold hands.

He wanted to kiss him.

Hold him.

Give him something of his as a gift.

Do everything couples do on valentine's day.

Classic, but he knew it was something that made him feel loved.

They were the small joys in life that mattered. Whether it was cheesy or not, Phuwin couldn't care less anyways.

They would look back at these moments and laugh. These memories would be stored right in the deepest corners of their heart.

" Do you want to do something more cheesy Pond?" Phuwin's voice echoed through as they stood under the shade in front of the cafe they had come to for their date.

Pond agreed, interested.

" Dance with me. In the rain."

" There is always a chance people might see us. Are you sure Phuwin?" Pond looked skeptical, just for a moment.

" Are you scared Pond?" Phuwin asked, the smirk on his lips a challenge.

A demand. One that Pond couldn't say no to.
" Let's do this." One sentence.

The orchids remained on the chair, a spectator of their love story now.

Phuwin pulled him out of the shelter.
The raindrops fell on them, a rhythm of an feeling they knew all too well . One only they could understand.

Phuwin went on to hold Pond's waist in a embrace.

The droplets of water fell on their face, each dash of the cold air a touch of something fresh.

Pond closed his eyes with a slow chuckle as a droplet fell into his eyes.

Phuwin trailed his fingers over his eyes and rubbed it, a slow motion of caress as he washed the droplet away.

Pond relaxed in his hold, his inhibitions gone.

" What about the song?" Phuwin asked.

" The rhythm of our heartbeats and the timbre of your voice." Pond answered while placing a kiss on Phuwin's lips.

" Cheesy Pond!" Phuwin spoke with a laugh while hitting Pond as he grinned looking at him.

" Okay then. Just a minute." Pond pulled out his phone uncaring about the rain and turned on the song.

" Love song" by Three man down.

" How?" Phuwin looked at him stunned.
It was the same song he had wanted for this moment.

" I know you Phuwin..." Pond replied while holding out his hand.

An invitation.

Phuwin could only shake his head in resignation and love for his boyfriend.

As they held each other in their arms and danced to the song, their hearts danced right along.

They laughed when they almost slipped.
Shivered in the cold but the warmth in their hearts were enough to keep them going.

They chuckled, a little embarassed but happy none the less when they saw someone passing by.

Their eyes locked in, when the hook line played.

In Pond's eyes were those same feelings.
Love, devotion and protectiveness.
In Phuwin, Pond could see it. Feel it with every fibre of his being that they were 'it'.
For now and forever.

If not words, his actions. They mattered.
And Pond knew Phuwin was his as he was his.

A smile, a photo to store in their jar of memories.

Time slowed if not coming to a full stop.
It was exactly like how it had been described in movies and books, only slightly better because it was them.

For Phuwin, everything felt special with Pond.

Even when is was cheesy. Especially because it was cheesy.

With Pond, everything felt magical.
They weren't perfect.

Not all days were good. But they would always go through it together.
The slow dance in rain, one more check in their bucket list.
