Golden and chocolate temptations

Ah, those eyes.

Ei still remembers vividly the first time she ever saw them through the Shogun’s eyes.

It was one of those rare days of winter in which the puppet thought that rather than being locked in the Tenshukaku’s office signing up decrees and ruling the nation tough on crime, it was deemed to abandon the ever quiet and gloomy walls of the castle to take a stroll around the city with the intention of enjoying the pleasant weather while observing her people and study their habits in such a particular and foreign day as Valentine’s Day.

The purple braided haired God remembers the fascination the puppet experimented as she watched with special attention the couples filling the streets while walking calmly holding hands, unbothered of showing such displays of affection for the rest of people to witness, or even being bolder enough to kiss in public.

After all, it was Valentine’s Day, the most romantic day of the year and as such, great gestures of love should be displayed without feeling any kind of fear nor embarrassment whatsoever.

Such was the Shogun’s fascination by such affectionate behaviors that the puppet didn’t seem to notice the nearby presence of a little dark purple haired girl running away from an unknown danger, before the kid ran into her.

And even though the little one did everything she could to avoid the ruler, her shoes skidded on the gravel sending her right against the puppet’s long legs, before she ended up on the ground.

The joyful calm atmosphere reigning over such romantic day grew suddenly cold as the skies clouded over and electricity wavered through the air in a dangerous way, before glowing lilac eyes gazed down at her feet to meet the source of such menace.

But the little girl on the ground, far from feeling terrified upon being the target of the Almighty Shogun’s wrath, couldn’t help but look up at the ruler with big innocent and shiny golden eyes shining with nothing but absolute wonder in them.

The atmosphere heavy then with a mist of danger, seemed to slowly thin as the puppet locked eyes with the stunned little girl and noticed the cute blush tinting her chubby cheeks and the shy smile adorning her lips.

Sadly, she also seemed to notice the faint red trickle of blood tainting the kid’s bare knee.

Before the Shogun even dared to ask her about her wellbeing, the little girl surprised her by jumping back to her feet, wincing slightly upon the pain that such sudden movement shot through her tiny body, before bowing, a trace of remorse painting her still flushed features.

- A-Almighty S-Shogun-sama! I deeply apologize for my clumsiness. I... wasn’t paying attention to where I was going.

The little girl shrieked nervously, quickly apologizing albeit stuttering afraid of having hurt the Almighty Shogun.

The Shogun, for her part, couldn’t help but chuckle upon the kid’s discipline and how she never dared to make eye contact with her and allow her to get trapped in such mesmerizing golden orbs once again, opting instead for fixing them at her feet while her tiny trembling hands fidgeted with the hem of her shirt.

It was at that very moment, and after her own lilac gaze noticed the little girl’s hands and shaking figure and the faint scars and scratching marring her perfect skin, that Ei felt something breaking within the Shogun and witnessed the awakening of the feelings of the puppet.

- Don’t worry little one.

Ei remembers the way the Shogun reassured the little girl. The softness coloring the puppet’s usual cold, mechanic and monotone voice as little Sara blushed hard and her eyes gazed up at the older woman to trap both the puppet and the God in her mesmerizing golden eyes and in the beautiful way they shone with such awe in them.

Unable to smile nor show any kind of solace whatsoever, the puppet resorted to the only thing she deemed of comfort and patted the kid’s head. Then immediately after, she took a small dark bag with a purple Mitsudomoe symbol embroidered on it off the insides of her sleeves, and offered the little girl one of the seasonal Valentine’s sweets she was gifted with and that she secretly and absolutely loved, a chocolate dango.

- Would you like one?

The Shogun offered the kid kindly, patiently as she observed with fascination the way Sara’s eyes lit up with joy at the small treat and her lips curled up into a small shy smile, eager to accept such sweet temptation, before she nervously bit her lips and shook her head breaking something inside the puppet’s inexistent heart.

- I-I’m so sorry, Almighty Shogun, but I can’t accept. Father doesn’t allow me to eat sweets. He’ll punish me if he hears about it.

Little Sara mumbled weakly, and the Shogun couldn’t help but wonder what kind of abominable so called parent inflicts such harm and dread to their own daughter, as well as how horrible those punishments shall be to cause a kid to even tremble at the mere thought of them, more than even at the wrath of her own God.

Concerned yet determined to ease the kid’s fears, the Shogun reached to take Sara’s trembling hand in hers and placed the small bag full of chocolate dangos on it, closing the tiny fist around it so the little girl couldn’t refuse her sweet gift.

- I won’t tell your father if you don’t either.

The Shogun promised the little one, watching once again with absolute fascination how the sadness painting Sara’s chubby face slowly eased until a beautiful and beaming smile took over her lips, almost competing with the sun itself.

- I-I won’t. T-thank you, Almighty Shogun!

Sara thanked the Shogun shyly, a warm feeling spreading across the puppet’s mechanical chest, before coldness settled back upon the sudden departure of the little golden bean, watching Sara’s petite figure disappearing in the distance chased by a group of teenagers that seemed to hold a grudge against the little one’s marvellous wings.

In an attempt to help her new friend to escape and punish the troublemakers from their abrasive behaviour towards the innocent little girl, the Shogun interceded by hitting them with a gust of air heavy with electricity, making them give up on their efforts to keep chasing her.

Even in the distance, the puppet could notice the wonder and gratitude shinning in those mesmerizing golden eyes that captivated her, before Sara kept running away, going deeper into the forest’s direction with the small dark bag full of chocolate dangos clutched tightly against her chest as her most precious treasure.

Now, several years later and at the same spot they met, the same piercing golden eyes of a strong and very handsome dark purple haired general look at her with nothing but utter wonder and love in them as a beaming yet shy smile adorns Sara’s lips and a cute blush tints her cheeks.

Ei can’t help but find the sight before her terribly cute, wondering where the most feared and fierce general of Inazuma went, before Sara interrupts her train of thoughts by taking her hands in hers. The God can’t help but bask in her warm touch, seemingly as a sunny day in summer, before the fabric of a very familiar small dark bag with a purple Mitsudomoe symbol embroidered on it replaces it.

- I-I remember the first time we met under this same spot and the bag full of chocolate dangos Raiden and you gifted me with.

Sara begins to say with longing, the timid blush tinting her cheeks deepening as a fond smile adorns her usual stoic features upon remembering such highly regarded memories.

- A-and I know they were your favourites.

She continues, and even though Ei wonders how she can know such thing, she also isn’t particularly surprised to notice how clever her precious and ever observant general and girlfriend can be. Or maybe, a certain sly pink haired priestess had something to do with revealing such trivial information, but that doesn’t matter now.

- So I hope you like these ones.

The ever fierce general exhales nervously, and Ei can only giggle at how cute she can be, leaning to leave a chaste kiss on Sara’s already red and warm cheek in an attempt to help her calming her nerves.

- Thank you Sara, I’m sure I’ll love them.

The older woman thanks her girlfriend knowing for a fact that she will love anything she bakes or cooks for her like she always does, and moved by the fact the sweet woman in front of her tried to replicate her favourite sweets (which over the passage of time ended up being taken off the market after the baker that made them died.)

As her hand delves inside the small dark bag eager to taste one of her beloved’s sweets, the God can’t help but smile cunningly to herself fully aware of Sara’s ever observant and piercing golden eyes staring at her intensely, following every one of her movements.

So once Ei takes the sweet to her mouth, she lets out a loud moan, licking her fingers in delight upon the heavenly taste of her girlfriend’s superb chocolate dango sweets.

The general can only shriek, her face turning into a very deep shade of red upon the embarrassing sound escaping her God’s and girlfriend’s lips.

- E-Ei!

It’s the only thing she can whine in return causing Ei to giggle, before driven by such adorable sight of her beloved, leans to cup Sara’s cheek and pull her into a kiss that makes it taste sweeter than any chocolate dango she ever had.

- I really love them, Sara. Just like I love you.

Ei admits softly, tender warmth shinning in her lavender eyes as she looks at Sara truly delighted and amazed with her girlfriend’s culinary skills, before the air around them shifts slightly, and a gust of flowery breeze carries a mischievous laugh with it.

- Aw, don’t tell me you two were having fun without me.

A velvety and playful voice interrupts the couple’s romantic moment, before a small pink furry menace appears out of thin air, jumping from above of one of the branches of the nearby trees to land on top of the God’s head who can only grunt in return.

Ei barely has time to complain to Miko, when the small fox decides to slide gracefully to her shoulder, one of her tiny paws squashing her nose on her way much to the God’s dismay. Once there, she decides to take advantage of this to steal the chocolate dango the purple braided haired woman has in her hand ready to eat it.

- Miko! These are mine!

Ei complains, earning Miko’s giggles in return, before the small fox finally ends up jumping towards Sara, who ever keen, quickly catches her and lets her climb over her chest until the furry creature rests comfortably against it.

- I’ve thought you liked to share.

Miko says playfully, winking at a still pouting Ei, before licking her furry lips savouring the delightful taste of Sara’s sweets.

And even though the small sly fox notices the hard gaze the general gives her, almost reprehending her with those mesmerizing golden eyes of hers, she also notices the fond glint shimmering in them along with the coy blush and the amused smile dancing on her lips threatening to break her stoic façade.

Something that of course, she knows all too well since it’s the same gaze and treacherous expression Sara gave her the first time they truly met when the stoic general was merely a petty kid full of wounds and scratches running way with a small dark bag with a purple Mitsudomoe symbol embroidered on it clutched tightly against her chest.

Miko still remembers that fateful day in which the both of them crossed their paths several Valentine’s ago.

It was one of those rare days of February in which instead of the usual rain pouring down over every corner of Inazuma while the cold freezing wind accompanied it, a warm and radiant sun blazed the clear blue skies, inviting the couples to walk their love through every part of the already embellished streets and stalls full of all possible kind of chocolates, flowers and red decorations to celebrate such romantic day.

And even though Miko as the head priestess of the Grand Narukami Shrine was more than happy for the young (and not so young) couples that trickled around the sanctuary in search of her blessings for a prosperous love, she also couldn’t help but feel sick with the amount of such disgustingly sweet and romantic gestures displayed.

So deciding a little break wouldn’t hurt nobody, she left her most trusted priestess in command to then escape from her duties for a little time and go to find the calm she needed within the depths of the forest, her small pink furry fox form being the perfect one for such opportunity.

A contented sigh escaped her furry lips as soon as her tiny paws came into contact with the drenched grass, and the refreshing scent of the morning dew that still lingered in the air after the latest rainfalls filled her nostrils, inviting the small fox to close her eyes and inhale the cool smell deeply, basking in the pleasant sensation while feeling the soft winter breeze swaying her fur and tickling her, before it was sadly interrupted.

Miko’s ever sensitive fox ears caught the faintest of noises at a distance, light footsteps hastily getting closer to her spot obliging the small fox to run and seek refugee inside a hole in one of the nearest and most robust trees surrounding her.

Luckily, said hole was big enough for her to peek her head through it and feel the wind lashing at her whiskers as a little dark purple haired kid ran past her to, like her, take cover behind the tree she was hidden inside.

Curious, the small pink fox decided to abandon the security of her hiding place inside the tree, to ever slowly and stealthily get closer to the kid without arousing any suspicion whatsoever, like a predator ready to catch their prey.

So like that, Miko found herself circling the tree’s trunk, crouching to hide behind some bushes and observe the kid, noticing the amusing sight of the little girl looking to one side then another nervously, checking there wasn’t anybody around, to then stuff her cheeks with what apparently seemed to be sweets judging by the evident proof of her “crime” dirtying her lips of chocolate.

A quiet snort escaped the sly fox’s lips, before Miko crawled forward, stepping onto a branch with such bad luck that the sound of it breaking alerted the little girl of her presence.

Little Sara could only gaze up in panic, her big innocent golden eyes looking at her in utter shock upon having being caught, before a relaxed exhalation escaped her lips once she saw the cautious pink fox.

Noticing the suspended chocolate dango that the little girl held in her hand and was halfway her mouth, along with the familiar small dark bag with a purple Mitsudomoe symbol embroidered on it that she clutched tightly against her chest with her other hand and that Miko knew all too well, the sly fox couldn’t help but grin mischievously, the edges of her mouth curling up feral showing off her fangs.

This, of course, didn’t go unnoticed by the little girl, who could only squint her eyes harshly at the fox, finding herself immersed in a staring contest with the furry creature while clenching the small bag tighter against her chest in an attempt to protect it. Yet this didn’t seem to be enough, turning out in neglecting the suspended sweet on her hand.

So in the flash of lightning, the small fox jumped to steal the sweet off Sara’s hand, landing over the drenched grass ever gracefully to then put it in her furry mouth and chew the chocolate dango melodramatically.

- H-hey, that’s mine!

Little Sara whined pathetically, squinting and staring hard at the petty pink furry thief, and Miko, ever so sly, used this precise moment to manipulate the little kid, licking her tiny paws to then rub her snout with them, acting so cutely that even Sara had no choice but let her guard down moved by both the endearing gesture and the fox.

Naively and driven by the small fox’s cuteness, little Sara held her hand out to pet the furry creature, giving Miko the perfect opening to steal the sweets’ bag and ran away with them, going deeper into the forest with the sweet treasure hanging off her furry lips.

- Wait please! They’re a gift from the Almighty Shogun!

Miko could hear the kid’s yelling behind her, her short strides chasing after her as she kept running away, before she heard a shriek and a loud crash behind her.

Frightened and concerned, the mischievous fox halted on her running and retraced her steps to find the little girl sprawled on the grass, a mantle of Sakura petals surrounding her and concealing the root of the Sakura tree to which Sara tripped with.

It was then, when she noticed the bloody scrape trickling down the kid’s knee and the amalgam of bruises, wounds and even the faintest of scars marring the little one’s perfect skin.

Miko’s heart shuddered upon such heart-breaking sight, and ever carefully, she walked closer to the small girl, dropping the small dark bag of sweets next to her to then pat Sara’s head and lick her nose.

A sniffle escaped the kid’s lips, sitting up to wipe her eyes and give the petty thief fox a watery smile.

- Thank you.

Sara thanked the small fox quietly, clutching the precious bag against her chest once again, before taking one of the ever more and more scarce chocolate dangos in her hand to divide it in two halves and offer them to the furry creature.

Miko, moved by such tender gesture, could only take the sweets off Sara’s hand and eat them slowly, tasting their soft delicious taste as she let the little girl stroke her soft fur. Yet, in a moment of distraction, the small fox decided to run away and into the depths of the forest much to the kid’s sadness and under her still tearful gaze.

It didn’t take long before the pink fox reappeared with a small crown of Sakura flowers intrinsically laced hanging by her snout, placing it beside the little girl to then playfully bit one of her fingers in an attempt to pull her hand closer to the floral crown so Sara could wear it around her wrist.

A beaming smile painted the little girl’s lips and lit up her mesmerizing golden eyes once again, making Miko purr out of happiness, earning an adorable and joyful giggle from the human.

The pink haired fox couldn’t help but smile contentedly upon such precious sound and bop her snout with the kid’s nose, before she ran away once again, letting the little one enjoy her sweets without any other setback.

Back to the present, the kitsune can’t help but smile softly upon such fond memory, her lips slowly curling up into a mischievous grin as she places her tiny paws fully on the general’s chest and propels herself up to bop her snout with Sara’s lips in a wet funny kiss, letting a cloud of smoke envelop them.

Soon enough, a pair of slender arms wraps around Sara’s neck playing with her little hairs, making the general shiver while finding herself staring into a pair of beautiful yet mischievous amethyst eyes and the biggest and most innocent as well as cunning grin the sexy pink haired woman in her arms can give her.

- Don’t tell me Ei is getting chocolate and kisses, and I aren’t getting anything for Valentine’s Day, my little bird?

Miko whines playfully, earning herself a roll of eyes from her beloved little bird, who in response wraps her arms completely around the kitsune’s waist to pull her into a soft kiss.

- Don’t be jealous my little fox, I also have something for you.

Sara reassures her, a coy blush tinting her cheeks that Miko absolutely adores, omitting completely the insinuation of her jealousy.

The attentive general lets Miko go to greet Ei with a playful kiss, erasing with it the God’s cute pout while earning her forgiveness back for having stolen one of her precious sweets. This, of course, prompts the general to let out a chuckle, before she walks closer to her lovers and takes their hands in hers, giving them a tender smile as she begins to walk away dragging them with her.

A knowing look and smile is shared between the God and the Priestess, delighted to follow their little bird wherever she takes them to.

And just like that, holding hands like they had seen thousand of couples do in such a romantic day as Valentine’s Day over the years, the three women find themselves traversing through Inazuma’s empty streets, the gloomy pavement slowly giving way to the dense forest and the greenest of vegetation ever saw.

Soon enough, they’re crossing a small clear to reach a large and magnificent Sakura tree, its beautifully blossomed branches greeting them while providing them the necessary shelter to the picnic the general very carefully prepared for them.

Miko’s heart races upon immediately recognizing such beautiful and idyllic spot as the same one in which she met little Sara years ago, and in which many centuries ago, she and Ei sought for refugee to escape from their daily obligations and enjoy the pleasant weather relaxing in between kisses and caresses.

A nostalgic yet fond smile spreads across Ei’s lips upon remember such past times with her familiar too, before Sara signals her beloveds to take a seat on the picnic tablecloth, quickly uncovering a basket full of onigiris, fried tofu and of course, more chocolate dango in the form of cute sly foxes and fearless angry birds, all while accompanied with a refined green tea.

The gentle breeze blowing carries with it their collective giggles, before a surprised gasp is heard upon such sight being revealed.

- Happy Valentine’s Day. Thank you for being with me, and make me be part of your love. I cherish the both of you with my whole heart.

Sara tells her girlfriends in an emotional way, moving both women who quickly hold her in their arms and share a tender and sweet kiss with her, hoping the younger woman knows how much she means for them and how much they cherish and love her.

An embarrassed giggle escapes the typically stoic general’s lips, her cheeks tinted in an adorable deep red as she lets her partners shower her with love, before Sara gathers the crowns of flowers she did in her hands and place them on top of her beloveds’ heads: a beautiful lilac and lavender flowery one on Ei’s head and another pink and white on Miko’s, each one of them with the women’s significant colours (as well as the Shogun’s one too).

- You’re so lovely, my little bird.

Miko says ever softly, a warm tender love shinning in her amethyst eyes as she kisses her beloved little bird sweetly.

- Never change, my dear.

Ei continues, pulling Sara into another sweet kiss that lets the general know how precious and loved she is to the both of her girlfriends.

- We love you, and cherish you with our whole heart too. Thank you for letting us love you.

Both Ei and Miko proclaim, and the pink haired woman can’t help but notice how Sara blushes harder upon their words, getting momentarily distracted of such romantic moment by Ei’s noisy stomach claiming to be fed with more chocolate dangos and the sweet giggle that this earns from them.

It’s only natural that their recently acquired flowery crowns as well as the one Miko gifted little Sara with years ago and which serves as bed for her kitsune’s figurine next to the 5 statues of Her Excellency, the Almighty Narukami Ogosho, God of Thunder that Sara owns and worships in her cherished handmade shrine, are soon followed by three beautiful flowery rings mixed all together with their colours decorating their fourth fingers in marriage.
