Work Text:

Valentine's Day should be considered the worst holiday to exist.

It's not like you hated those who did celebrate it, but for you personally, it brought back some embarrassing memories. Last year, on this particular day, you decided to confess to your crush since middle school. You felt the time had come and wanted to tell them your feelings, hoping they’d reciprocate it. Unfortunately it turned out to be a disaster. Expecting your crush to be there behind the school like you planned, you accidentally started confessing to your home room teacher. You didn’t even notice until you heard a familiar laugh coming from behind you. Your crush was laughing at the humiliating moment while filming. The teacher awkwardly declined your “confession” and left. You couldn’t believe it, your heart dropped, this wasn’t how it was supposed to go. Feeling mortified, you just ran away, crying because how could you mistake giving chocolates to your teacher, you didn’t even like him in general! Even worse, the video spread among his friends, and soon everyone thought you had a “crush” on your teacher.

This started your dislike for this particular day. You didn’t need to be reminded of the embarrassment nor the pain of being single whilst your friends were out on their dates. Sure they comforted you and reassured that their significant others wouldn’t take away time from the friendship, but you couldn't help feeling lonely.

Luckily, school was over and you were walking to your bus stop, away from all the confessions taking place. You would spend your evening with studies and preparing for your exams, because that was the only way to redeem yourself. You couldn’t be a failure and have a heart broken either could you? Anyways, who needs to date at a time like this? It was your last year of high school and college entrance exams were the only thing on your mind, until today that is. But the past is the past, and it was time to move on.

“Hey… aren’t you that girl who confessed to Umibozu-sensei?”

You turned around in shock, but even more to see the infamous delinquent not only in the school, but the whole Kabukicho area. Today could just not get any worse.

The best possible option was to either: A) Deny this fact and pretend to be someone else, or B) run away from him and take a later bus. You chose the latter.

“IgottogoIdontknowwhoyouarepleasestayawayfrommebye-”

“Whoa, where do you think you’re going?”

Before you could get a head start, he grabbed the strap of your bag and pulled. You looked behind, mortified on what he was planning to do. A delinquent no less, would result in some money being taken, or some injuries. Kamui was definitely the worst of them, and even passing by him would give you bad luck (according to rumors). You weren’t surprised, as you’ve known about him since middle school.

“Um, I’m sorry I don’t have any cash on me right now…”

He took a closer look at your face, and smirked.

“You are that girl! No wonder you looked familiar, by the way, your taste in men is weird,” he laughed.

Sure he was a bit scary, but there was no way you were about to let him make fun of you without a fight.

“Excuse me? Who do you think you are to tell me that? If you're here to pick on me then you better-”

“I’m just teasing you,” he smiled, and sat on the bench, pulling you down with him. “I’m sure you already know who I am and wondering why I’m here, so I’ll go right into it: Be my girlfriend.”

The color drained from your face. You honestly didn’t know how to react.

“I’m sorry, what?”

“You heard me, be my girlfriend.”

“H-hello? You just met me, we don’t know each other, wait this isn’t even the biggest issue, you’re Kamui!”

He grinned and suddenly grabbed your chin closer to his face. “Well it seems you know me, F/N, L/N.”

You pushed him and barked, “H-how do you know my name? Are you after me or something? I’ll call the police on you!”

“Duh, everyone knows who you are after that insane video from last year. And I don’t think you have the guts to call on me.”

Oh. You forgot about that.

Groaning, you gave up and decided to play along to see what this was all about before you caused more problems. “Okay, first things off, why are you doing this?”

He sighed, before starting. “For fun.”

You smacked his head. “Answer seriously before I actually call the police for harassing me. Don’t think I won’t call you a creep!”

Kamui scoffed, rubbing his head, “Fine, I like you, go out with me.”

You could suddenly feel the Shoujo-esque mood coming in with the roses flying out of nowhere. Blushing, you looked away. There was no way this was real, right? You needed to get a hold of yourself.

“I- this is a joke right? Where’s the camera, cut it out. I’m not making another fool of myself for a stupid video for your Just-agram account.”

Kamui suddenly pulled you close and smirked, “Now why would I be joking with someone like you? Tell me, what's your answer?”

Luckily the bus pulled over and you stood up, escaping from the awkward situation.

“M-my bus is here, great, well I guess I’ll you hopefully never-”

“Hold it, you’re not going anywhere without answering my question.” his face suddenly turned dark, somewhat letting you know this was not about to end well.

“You’re Kamui, the infamous delinquent that seeks nothing but fights and violence. People say you’ve beaten up hundreds of gangs, and find pleasure in it; in other words, a sadist. Why would anyone want someone like me?”

Taunting, he replied, “You’re right, I do love a good fight.” He continued, walking closer to you. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t fall in love right?”

“Y-you…”

“I’ll have you know I’ve been watching you for a while now. Don’t think I’m just picking on you because you're weak.”

Before you could respond, the bus driver yelled at the both of you to get on the bus before he’d leave.

“Well, it looks like our time is up. I’ll be seeing you later? Tomorrow? Or tonight?” Kamui gave his famous smile before giving back your phone, that you had no recollection of giving it to.

“H-hey did you steal my phone?” You cursed, but he disappeared, as the only evidence of him being there was the phone number saved on your contacts. However, right before he left, you could've sworn you saw a small tinge of pink on his cheeks. Something that definitely did not suit a sadist. You sighed as you got on the bus and sat down to look back on what just happened. You looked outside the window, seeing nothing but your blushing reflection. It wasn’t supposed to be like this today.

“Valentines day sucks…”

Notes:

Happy Valentines Day!

I hope my fellow Kamui fans enjoy this fic, and I really hope I didn't make it too OOC, he's a hard character to write...

Anyways, super excited about the new Yoshiwara in Flames movie that came out recently, but still waiting on that global release date... BUT Kamui in the trailer looked so cool I had to write about him!!
