Work Text:
"What are you doing Watson?" Holmes giggles as Watson comes over to him with his magnifying glass.
"An experiment of sorts." Watson says, mirth dancing in his eyes.
Watson sits opposite Holmes and takes his right hand in his own. He begins to look at it through the magnifying glass and Holmes roars with laughter.
"Watson!"
Watson smiles at him.
"Well I've so often observed your hands from afar, it seemed fitting to me to observe them up close."
Holmes laughs again as Watson turns his hand over to study the other side. He allows him his moment of fun and when Watson is finished, Holmes takes the magnifying glass out of his hands.
"Well Watson?"
Watson chuckles.
"There are lots of acid burns and boxing scars. You really should take better care of your hands my dear fellow."
"Of course Watson." Holmes laughs. "Did you find whatever it was that you were seeking?"
"I did. I only sought to become more familiar with a part of you. The way you can see everything about everyone."
"I see. Well you need only ask Watson. I am happy to oblige."
They sit like this for a large portion of the evening. Watson learning this small part of Holmes, while Holmes watches Watson just as intently. Committing each other to memory.
