Work Text:
"Sukunaaaaa~" Gojo sings.
"What?" Sukuna grumbles, on his way to the cursed tool room of Jujutsu High. He wants to find a way to challenge Maki more. That girl has talent when it comes to weapons, but God forbid Sukuna is going to let her abilities stagnate. Never ever.
Sukuna has adjusted to his lover's antics a long time ago. The sweet tone of Gojo's voice, the random cooes when talking to him, the public display of affection when going on missions together. It's probably Gojo's way of bringing more excitement to his life as a sorcerer who has to execute curses and train students the whole time – rinse, repeat.
Sukuna opens the door to the room with a little too much force. Gojo latches onto his neck, arms tight around it, and his singsong rings in Sukuna's ears.
"What are you gonna give me on Valentine's Day?"
"The fuck is that?" Sukuna says, but he can tell that he didn't put enough nonchalance in his voice.
Gojo releases from him and Sukuna walks to one of the shelves as though he hadn't been physically held back by the other just now.
"Oh, c'mon! You saw enough memories of today's world. I know that you know what Valentine's Day or White Day or Christmas is."
Sukuna stays silent, eyeing a cursed weapon more closely.
Gojo crosses his arms stubbornly. "I'm expecting something from you in two days. I have something for you, too."
"Be ready for nothing, then." Again, not enough nonchalance.
Sukuna and Gojo might be a couple for almost a year now, but that never changed the fact that Sukuna is not the romantic type at all. And Valentine's Day?
Sukuna was so not looking forward to it ever since the 1st of February and ever since Yuuji brought it up during training once. How that teenage sorcerer could think about something like that while dodging and defending himself from Sukuna's attacks is beyond Sukuna's understanding.
Gojo is grinning like a child and Sukuna knows his bright blue eyes are glistening with excitement under that blindfold.
"It's our day off on the 14th," the white-haired special grade announces.
"Is that so?" Sukuna says uncommittedly.
"Yep!" Gojo nods, enthusiastic. "Told the higher-ups if they don't give us a day off on Valentine's Day, I'd kill them and you'd eat them afterwards."
Sukuna grimaces with disgust. Not even when he had no other options left would he eat the tiniest part of those worthless higher-up grandpas.
"Thus, they had no other choice!" Gojo boops Sukuna's nose and for a second the reincarnated sorcerer has the urge to break Gojo's finger.
So childish, Sukuna thinks.
But it's not like he actually hates Gojo's guts. He and Sukuna are just so different. And yet they somehow ended up together.
Not that Sukuna hates that. He doesn't.
Gojo wriggles two fingers in front of Sukuna's face.
"You have two days left, honey~"
Sukuna doesn't give a retort. He grumbles lowly, turning around then to search for a proper cursed tool. This is what he's initially here for.
Gojo pecks Sukuna's cheek and makes his way to leave.
"Those damn higher-ups did give me a two days mission, though. Have to go to Osaka. We'll see each other on Valentine's Day again. Romantic, right? Don't forget about my gift!"
The last thing that is heard are Gojo's giggles through the hallway. Sukuna stops rummaging through the shelves.
"Two days, huh ..." he mutters to himself.
***
Two days go by fast. Sukuna needs one day for the preparations and another day for actually executing his plan while fulfilling his duties as a Jujutsu High teacher.
Gojo Satoru's absence is a good thing because that way Sukuna doesn't get distracted by his lover who is starving for attention more often than not.
14th of February.
"Sukunaaaaaaa~"
It's around midday when Sukuna hears Gojo's voice in their shared dorm room before he sees him. There's also a mellow smell coming from that room.
When Sukuna enters, he's met with the sight of Gojo sitting at a table with two filled bowls in front of him.
The white haired sorcerer waves a hand in the direction of the empty seat opposite to him.
"I'm back! Happy Valentine's Day!"
Sukuna grunts almost inaudibly, sitting down and treating the bag he's carrying with him like something totally unimportant. He puts it down next to his feet.
"What's this?" Sukuna looks at the meal presented to him. He spots pieces of chicken and scrambled eggs and green onions and there must be rice beneath it.
"Something that didn't exist in the Heian era yet. Oyakodon."
"I see." Sukuna picks up a spoon and gives the traditional Japanese dish a try.
Gojo doesn't bother with his own bowl yet. His chin is resting on his threaded fingers; his smile is big as he watches Sukuna eat oyakodon for the first time ever. Gojo knows the other had never tried it before.
Sukuna is silent, already on his fifth scoop.
"Did you make his?" is all he asks.
"Do you like it?" Gojo throws a question back.
Sukuna shrugs nonchalantly, avoiding eye contact. "It's alright."
Gojo clicks his tongue and groans dramatically. "You can't fool me. You love it. I can tell by your expressions!"
"I'm not showing any expressions."
"That's the point! If you hated it, it would be visible on your face."
"Idiot."
Gojo laughs heartily. Sukuna chews for a long time, making sure not to look at him. The other has started eating, too.
"It's good," Sukuna mutters, and Gojo hears that.
When they finish, Gojo pulls something from behind him. A wrapped box.
"Your Valentine's gift!"
Sukuna opens it without further ado.
It's a knife set. Just by the visuals of the three knives that come in different sizes, the gift set seems to be of an exceptionally high quality.
"For your cooking," Gojo explains. "They can help you with cutting the ingredients as neatly as you want."
Sukuna is very passionate about everything that he cooks — to the point that he is meticulous about how he cuts the meet and vegetables even.
"I don't need this," Sukuna teases unseriously. "I can use my cursed technique to cut things however I want."
"Ah, that's not the same at all and you know that, Sukuna." Gojo smirks, shaking his head.
Sukuna looks at the knives a little while longer. Gojo didn't give him just anything. He actually thought about what kind of gift to choose. But how would Sukuna respond to receiving something like this? Hug the knife set? Jump with joy? Merely say 'thank you'?
"I'll let you know how working with these knives goes."
This is how Sukuna is.
Gojo's amusement resonates through his laughter. "If it's too hard for you to say that you like your gift, you can just say that you like me."
"I don't like you," Sukuna lies, and Gojo knows.
Sukuna grabs the bag by his feet and opens it.
Both of them have finished their meal a whole ago.
"Now is the perfect timing for my gift to you, I guess."
"So you do have something for me, huh?" Gojo teases.
"I would rather give you somehing than hear you whining until next Valentine's Day."
"You get it."
Sukuna thrusts the wrapped box into Gojo's direction unceremoniously. A generous amount of excitement is coursing through Gojo as he takes the gift and unwraps it.
He gasps when he sees what's inside the box through the transparent lid.
"Ichigo daifuku mochi!"
Strawberry mochi. Nine of them.
A nice dessert after the hearty oyakodon.
For some reason, just by looking at them, Gojo thinks that these mochi must be of some special kind.
Gojo pulls his blindfold up and drinks in the sight of such deliciousness. He picks one of the mochi and bites into it. The sweet and sour taste of the strawberry hits his taste buds first and a wave of sweetness (from the red beans and the mochi skin) explodes in his mouth.
This is the best ichigo daifuku mochi Gojo has ever had.
"It's so good!"
Sukuna is watching Gojo's every reaction, wondering how something as simple as mochi can make the other feel this way. On the other hand, Gojo is the one with the biggest sweet tooth Sukuna has ever encountered.
Gojo has already devoured five of the mochi, saddened by the fact that there aren't many left anymore.
"They are so so so good, where did you get them?"
"I won't tell."
"You have to." Gojo inspects the box. "The shop's name isn't written anywhere."
"I won't tell you."
"That means you have to buy me these whenever I'm craving them."
"Pfft."
Sukuna looks at Gojo's face. With the blindfold in his hair, his ridiculously blue eyes bared and his lips shiny from the strawberry juice, Sukuna can barely hold back. He can't hold back.
He stands up and rounds the table with swift steps, whipping Gojo's head up by hooking a finger under his chin, kissing him deeply.
Gojo is taken by surprise, but he reciprocates the kiss immediately.
Sukuna doesn't care about Valentine's Day at all, but he does like where things are going right now.
They undress each other like two horny teenagers.
***
"You have to tell me, Sukuna," Gojo whines.
"No."
Gojo and Sukuna are lying in bed, naked, the remnants of the third round still tangible in the air and in their heavy breathing.
Gojo can't stop looking at the box with the four remaining mochi inside. He's craving those, too, but he knows it would be too bad if he finished all nine pieces so soon.
If only his lover would tell him where he got them from.
Gojo is lying on the side, his head propped up, a finger gliding over Sukuna's chest.
"You can stay stubborn with your answer. I'll find it out by myself sooner or later."
One corner of Sukuna's mouth twitches upwards. "Yeah, sure."
"You don't belive me?"
"I know you won't be able to find the shop."
Gojo squints his eyes, pouting. Then, he puts that matter aside. For now.
"Valentine's Day isn't over yet which means our day off isn't over yet. Let's go outside and see if there's anything that we can do. I think Shinjuku has some Valentine's Day events."
Sukuna holds back rolling his eyes. He doesn't mind staying here. Valentine's Day really isn't something he would love to indulge in.
But Gojo Satoru ...
Is there anything Gojo Satoru doesn't like?"
"I'll shower first." Sukuna sighs, getting out of bed and taking a towel with him as he goes into the bathroom.
Having been able to convince Sukuna to agree to his plans, Gojo picks up his phone happily, wanting to check out what Shinjuku district has to offer today.
He isn't able to do that, though, because he receives a message from Yuuji which he opens right away.
Sensei! Look! Yuuji writes.
And then he sends his teacher two videos. Sukuna is visible in both previews.
Gojo plays the first one. And he can't believe what he's watching.
Sukuna is pounding mochi with a wooden hammer — the same way traditional mochi makers do. A person is next to Sukuna, giving him instructions.
The video shakes a little and then Gojo hears Yuuji's soft giggles behind the camera. Sukuna is so immersed into his work that he senses Yuuji's presence almost a minute later.
"Brat!" Sukuna yells at him and then the video cuts off.
"No way ..." Gojo whispers to himself. He feels blissfully excited.
Was that from two days ago? Or yesterday? While Gojo was away for his mission?
"No way, Sukuna. Did you really ...?"
Gojo plays the second video.
Sukuna is sitting at a table with Uraume. Loads of strawberries, a batch of red bean paste and the mochi from the first video are spread on the table. Uraume is holding Sukuna's phone while the latter is seemingly watching a video and following instuctions once more.
He takes a strawberry and wraps red bean paste around it. Then he takes a small amount of mochi and stretches it over the strawberry and red bean paste, shaping it until it looks like an actual ichigo daifuku mochi.
Gojo covers his mouth with a hand, not being able to stop smiling as he watches the video till the end. Sukuna makes one more ichigo daifuku mochi before he spots Yuuji who was again secretly recording him.
Gojo hears Yuuji shriek and the last thing he sees is something that looks like Sukuna's cleave before the video cuts off.
Gojo looks at the black screen in silence before he starts kicking his feet and giggling.
"You're kidding me, Sukuna!"
Sukuna doesn't know what's going on, the sound of the shower audible.
Gojo was already feeling incredibly happy about Sukuna's gift, but now he discovers that they were handmade by him?
Gojo presses his phone against his chest and eyes the mochi box again. The best ichigo daikfuku mochi in the whole world. And now he knows why.
"This is the best Valentine's Day ever."
