Work Text:
After a treacherous journey to the grocery store, the ingredients had been secured. Uki was setting up all the ingredients and supplies making sure to have multiple bowls and both liquid and solid measuring cups. Uki looked at his hard work. Everything was neat and organized. Fulgur on the other hand seemed to be arguing with the griddle. One of the legs had broken at some point, and now it refused to remain level. Uki watched as Fulgur put whatever he could find under the broken leg just to see that it still remained lopsided.
“Fuufuu-chan, do you need help?” Uki stood beside the frustrated cyborg.
“Yes.” Fulger wrapped his arm around the psychic's waist, rubbing small stressed circles with his thumb. Uki picked up the unplug griddle and proceeded to fold the legs in, resulting in an even surface. They chuckled when he looked at his lover and saw Fulgur's brain give up. The cyborg rested his forehead on Uki's shoulder and sighed.
“We haven't even made anything yet, and you've already had to save me from kitchen appliances, Ukiki.” Uki gently stroked Fulgur's hair as he started measuring the flour.
Fulgur poured all the ingredients as Uki measured them. He took great care to put the wet and dry in different bowls, even if Uki's frustrated face was cute. Once everything was together, they mixed the batter completely. After a few adjustments from Uki, the batter was ready to be poured. Fulgur finally removed himself from Uki's waist to be careful. Uki poured the batter into hearts and Fulgur flipped them over.
Once all the batter had been poured, Uki started washing the bowls and putting away the ingredients. As he washed, a soft melody came from the cyborg. It made him smile. He knew Fulgur had a special place in his heart for that Elvis song. It became even more special when he sang it for Uki. Uki finished up the dishes and got the whipped cream out for the freshly made pancakes.
“How'd they turn out?” Uki stood beside him, admiring the plates of pancakes.
“Pretty good. They actually look like hearts.” Fulgur spoke as he watched Uki top the pancakes with the cream. He scooped up some with his finger and put it on Uki's nose.
“Hey.” Uki retaliated with his own whipped cream. Fulgur chuckled and picked up Uki, who laughed with him.
“Uki.” Fulgur looked up at them with so much care.
“Yeah?” They responded, a soft smile stuck on their face. Fulgur kissed the cream off Uki's face.
“I love you. Happy Valentine's Day.” Fulgur smiled.
“I love you too, Fulgur.” Uki gently kissed him before the two sat down and enjoyed their hard work.
