Jean-Andoche Junot had hated Arthur Wellesley ever since he'd taken back Lisbon. At least, that's what everybody thought. But as Junot strode through the woods, he knew he could never bring himself to hate such a brilliant, charming man. Not that he'd ever admit it to Wellesley's face though! HMPH. As Junot approached a clearing in the lush wood, he'd noticed a figure was already waiting there. Damn it, I thought I'd arrive before him!
Wellesley turned as Junot's footsteps echoed around the clearing. "Junot! There's my favourite Frenchman. I thought you wouldn't turn up." He teased striding over to Junot and casually flinging an arm over his shoulders.
Junot rolled his eyes, shaking Wellesley off. He strode to sit under a large tree and heard the pitter-patter of Wellesley's footsteps following. "Shove off, Arthur." He called, inwardly cringing at how rude that'd sounded. Luckily, Wellesley wasn't fazed at all by Junot's words, instead sitting next to Junot.
"Shove off?" He grinned. "Nah. I'd rather not. It's so much more fun to annoy you when you're trying to be stoic. Especially since you don't know how cute you are when you do try being stoic." He teased, flinging another arm around Junot.
"Hey!" He protested. "I am NOT cute! And personal space! I would be very appreciative if you acknowledged that!" To be frank, Junot didn't mind at all, he honestly enjoyed Wellesley's company, but his words always seemed to convey the exact opposite.
Wellesley tugged Junot closer, still wearing that god-forsaken charming grin that always made his heart do some fluttering thing. BLEGH. "I would, but it's too tempting to tease you, especially when I know that you don't mind at all!"
Junot could feel a blush creeping up his neck, and all he could do was stare at the ground. "I do mind.." Junot mumbled in protest.
Wellesley snickered. "Then enlighten me on why you're not shoving me away at this very moment?" Junot glared at him, feeling his heart flutter like a moth as Wellesley teased him.
"..I don't feel like pushing you right now." He mumbled at last, turning his head away. He felt Wellesley consider this for a moment, before he nudged Junot.
"Junot.. you know nobody'll find out about us, right? Not Napoleon, and not King George. It'll be fine." Wellesley could always see through Junot's darker thoughts, though he'd always push them into the darkest corners of his mind.
Junot sighed. "I know."
Wellesley smiled, pulling him closer and giggling. "Then stop acting so gloomy, Junot!"
Junot gave him a playful shove, rolling his eyes. "Fine.. but it's not like it's because you asked me to, or something. I've just decided to be agreeable today..!"
Wellesley hugged him closer, murmuring. "Sure you are.."
