“Uh, hi!” Peril said, landing in front of the dragon she was meant to welcome. "You're Luna, right?”
“That's me!” the green dragoness smiled.
“And you’re a,” Peril hoped she remembered the word Turtle had used, “flamesilk?”
Luna grinned. “Yup,” she held out her hand and let a tendril of gold silk spiral from her wrist. “I spin fire.”
“Wow!” Peril said, “Cool! I’m Peril, a firescales.”
“Firescales?” Luna asked, looking curious.
She really doesn't know about me. Peril realized, or anything I’ve done. Don't mess this up Peril! “Yeah,” she said; “my scales are fire.” She picked a flower from the grass around them.
Luna’s eyes widened as it burnt to ash.”yikes! Can you do that to dragons?” She took a step backwards.
“Yup.” Peril said, “I’m pretty dangerous.” the most dangerous dragon in Pyrriah, she thought, oh wait! “I mean, but I don’t! Not anymore. Definitely not my thing nowadays, ha ha!”
Luna edged a little farther away.
Ahrrgg! This was not working well.“Wait, no! Monkeys and mongooses! I’m Peril, and even though my scales could potentially burn everything to ashes, I promise they won’t! Totally safe dragon to be friends with, me.”
Luna paused, her long antenna twitching, then smiled. “Alright, totally safe Peril. I believe you.”
Peril grinned, yes! Another friend, she was getting good at this. “So what does your silk do?”
Luna smiled back at her. “It can do a lot, I can make kinds that don’t burn anything,” she gestured to the strand sitting in the grass. “Or ones that glow,” she created a new strand, “or ones that are hot and bright. Like strings of fire.” as this strand fell to the ground it burned the grass around it.
“It doesn't burn you?” Peril asked.
“No.” Luna replied. “Does fire burn you?”
“Nope.” Peril said, she reached out and grabbed the strand from the grass.
Luna jumped as if startled. “How did you know Flamesilk wouldn't?"
Peril shrugged, “I dunno, I’ve never been burnt.” That hadn't even crossed her mind.
“Well, cool.” Luna said, she looked thoughtful for a moment, then said “hold still.”
Peril instantly jerked away.
Luna laughed. “Watch this.” glowing silk started spiraling out of her wrists once again, but this time it reached out to loop around Peril’s, she started again; expecting the delicate strand to burn, but it stayed intact.
Luna sent more strands twisting around Peril’s wrist, forming a sort of woven bracelet. Then she cut the thread and proceeded to do the same thing on her own wrist.
“Wow!” Peril said, twisting her arm to admire the strands. “It’s so pretty!” The bracelet gleamed in the light and she brushed a claw over it, feeling the soft fibers. It's not burning, I guess you can't burn fire.
“It’s called a friendship bracelet.” Luna said, “I’m not sure if you guys have them, but SilkWIngs make them for their friends.”
“Thank you!” Peril said, "I've never had any jewelry or treasure. Well, except for this one necklace.” She shivered. “But that was enchanted.”
“Enchanted?” Luna’s eyes grew wide. “Like real magic?”
“But super evil magic!” Peril said, “it changed my memories, who I was.” She shuddered from horns to tail.
“Oh.” Luna’s face fell, “I never considered that.”
“Well I stopped it.” Peril said proudly.
"Wow." Luna said, she looked, impressed.
Peril smiled, "yeah, it was pretty amazing."
"It sounds like it. Their are so many cool things here in the Distant Kingdoms." Luna's wings twitched, like she wanted to fly off and explore all of Pyrriah.
"I guess so." Peril said, “Hey, have you ever had applesauce?”
“No,” Luna said, “what is it?”
“It’s like this hot, mushed up apple thing me and my friends make.” Peril said, “I can make you some.”
“You like to cook?” Luna said, “That's so cool! I’ve been trying to make honey drops, but they never turn out.”
“Maybe we can help you!” Peril said, “we could all cook together!” she hoped that had been what Luna meant.
The other dragon grinned. “Awesome!”
