Chapter Text
When Henry told him to get Charlotte out of the mancave, Jasper didn’t think, he just did as he was told. Now, as he stands in front of Junk 'n' Stuff, it feels like his whole world is falling apart. He stares at Mt. Swellview, at the wreckage of the blimp, at the half-destroyed Swellview sign, and the faint orange glow of a fire. He was vaguely aware of Charlotte behind him, but he couldn't tell if she was saying anything, if she was, he couldn't hear her over the ringing in his ears. He stood there, in still, stunned, silence, for what felt like ages, but was likely only a few moments, before, without realizing it, he was running.

By the time Jasper made it to the crash sight he was out of breath, but he didn’t care, the only thing he cared about was finding Henry, the only thing he could focus on was finding Henry. He didn’t even hear Charlotte coming up behind him as he stumbled through the wreckage, scanning the debris for any sign of the blond boy. Then he spots it, strands of blond hair sticking out from under what used to be part of the “V” in the Swellview sign. Jasper rushes over to Henry, clearing away debris with a strength he didn’t know he had. Tears begin to well up in his eyes as he looks down at his friend, his face is dirty and scratched up, his mask half torn off. Jasper leans down and cradles Henry in his arms, his heart feeling like it’s been shattered, as he begins to sob. “Please, Hen, don’t leave me… please. ”He begs, choking the words out between sobs. “Please Hen… I love you…”
