Television can affect people in so many ways: happiness, sadness, anger, laughter. One show that stuck out to me is titled My Hero Academia. The main protagonist Izuku Midoriya and his childhood friend Katsuki Bakugou have a bond that can be interpreted many ways. Some interpret it as romance like I do or some interpret it platonically. I count it as romance because their connection is so deep and there are so many layers and parallels to Izuku’s bond with others rather than his with Bakugou. The canon ship Izuchoca is so shallow and has no real feelings or chemistry it's just simple and mostly one sided on Uruaka’s end. An example of this is when Izuku’s canon love interest Ochacco Uruaka said “There’s so much I wanna tell you!” Yet Bakugou said “Deku there’s still crap I want- no crap I need to say to you.” This implies how much deeper their bond is and how Bakugou “needs” to say stuff to him yet Uruaka only “wants” to say stuff to him. Bakugou also said it in a serious tone as if he was yearning yet Uruaka only said it excitedly as if she was happy to tell him for fun. Another quote that interprets Izuku as reciprocating these feelings to Bakugou is when he told Uruaka “You are my hero.” Yet he told Bakugou “All Might was my hero, but you were the one actually in my life!” This shows Izuku always had Bakugou in his life and looked up to him and relied on him even though All Might was his hero, Bakugou was the person who was there, not Uruaka. In conclusion, BakuDeku is a ship with much more chemistry than Izuchoca and they deserve to have been canon. In my mind they will always be canon though.
