Prehistoric Park/Kingdom (Earth-93369)
Alex flew over the skies of the Park, letting the wind flow through his feathers. The immortal avian couldn't but be amazed by how much the world had changed these past countless millions of years. Sure, he knew that time travel would become a thing, ever since he first saw that human bring those insects from what humans called the Carboniferous period. The same human he'd see millions of years later, when whisked his friend Patchi and his herd to the future millennia ago, bringing to the Park and sparing them the extinction event.
Ah, the joys of stable time-loops.
Of course, Alex himself hadn't traveled to the future with the herd. He had hung back to take the long way around, having been waiting all this time for this specific day, braving everything life threw at him.. wars, poachers, all these supposedly dead species getting a second chance, creatures from possible future timelines, that one drugged robotic bear that created the Grand Canyon.. all for this day...
"They're here!"
One of the prehistoric lemurs down below called out and Alex found himself landing on a tree nearby as the time rift opened, with Nigel Marven and Patchi's herd coming out. He scanned everyone, finding Juniper and Scowler were looking a-okay (which made sense, since for them it had literally been an instant since they arrived) but he couldn't see Patchi. Ah, must be that part of the loop.
"Wonder what they're like?"
"I swear if he brought more carnivores..."
"Why wouldn't be bring more carnivores? The guys nuts!"
"Can we save the speciest remarks for after the new arrivals get settled?"
"DEATH TO THE HERBIVORES!"
"Oh great, who let the terror bird back in?"
Alex took scope of all the dinosaurs his old friends would be spending the rest of their lives with.
There was two adult iguanodons with two younger ones (most likely parents with their children) though some lemurs were on the male adult igaunadons back. A young yet scarred edmontosaurus was peaking out from behind a tree, clearly a shy one. A mammoth and some elephants (couldn't tell if they were Indian or African) were also present as were some. And-.
Where those dragons?
Yes, indeed a mother dragon flew overhead with her child closely behind. Huh. He thought all traces of them got wiped out during that whole debacle?
Well, god for them for getting found by Nigel, he supposed.
".. NO, ALEX!"
Alex was pulled from his dino-watching at the familiar voice he hadn't heard in.. in a very long time.. rang out. Slowly, he looked over..
.. and found a horrified Patchi looking around frantically where the time rift had previously been.
"NO! Nonono! Open it back up! He's still there!" Patchi roared at Nigel, who stumbled back at the agitated dinosaur.
Well, no time like the present.
"¡Hola, Patchi! Tranquilo, amigo, estoy bien!"
Patchi jolted, looking around before spotting Alex's resting spot and sagged in relief. "ALEX! Geez, you had me worried we left you behind!"
"Hehe.. sorry bout that, amigo!" He apologised, playing along with the act. Though Patchi was a dear friend and student, he wasn't quite sure how he'd handle the whole 'oh yeah i am actually an immortal spirit who wandered the earth for the past countless millennia and in a way you did leave me behind' thing.
Still, playing the role of a newbie, he gazed about with false curiosity. "Still, this place looks wild!"
"Yeah.. it.. it does..." Patchi trailed off as he caught sight of various dinosaurs, many he did and did not recognise yet he looked baffled by the sight of various carnivores. "Are those predators?!"
"Maybe they're leaf eating predators?" Alex quipped as he flew over and perched on Patchi's head.
".. You know what, we just went through a glowing hole in the wall in a blizzard and wound up in a green land, why not?" Patchi sarcastically remarked as some dinosaurs approached. Stepping forward to met them, he found Scowler staying nearby on guard. He sent his brother a brief look to say 'let me handle this, keep the others safe' before facing the smiling dino.
"Hey, welcome to the Park." The dino smiled. "I'm Aladar, this is Pterra - the 'p' is silent*," he motioned to the pterosaur at his side, "and that's Martha! Welcome to the Park! .. Or the kingdom, it flip flops from time to time."
"Uh.. right." Patchi looked at them. "I'm Patchi. Where.. are we?"
The trio shared amused looks that both made Patchi feel at ease and cautious.
"Home."
".. That sounded like something a cult would say."
"The heck's a cult?"
Was made as a potential prequel to another fic. Though its not canon until JB decides if it fits his idea.
Pterra is the pterosaur Nigel tamed in Walking with Dinosaurs - Sea Monsters, the one that screeched in panic when the boat got capsizes by the mosasaur. Read a theory it was the first dinosaur in the Park, so running with it. Yes, this universe also includes characters from Disney's Dinosaur, the Walking with... series, March of the Dinosaurs, and even Dragons A Fantasy Made Real! Also made a Primeval reference by having Alex mention encountering beings from possible futures, although I never saw the series, so consider it a shout-out than confirmation the show takes place on this Earth.
As for Alex being an immortal spirit? Figured it'd explain why he was alive to tell Ricky the story of Patchi. Him being a spirit is to explain him shifting between a raven and an alexornis. Also was thinking of Aughra from The Dark Crystal when I wrote him; also threw in a reference to the running gag of cocaine bears causing trouble. And made it a Beastformer. Because why not. Its a noodle incident after all.
