Work Text:
Holmes and Watson walk hand in hand down the beach for a while when Watson stops to pick up a rock. He skips it on the water with relative ease.
"How did you do that?" Holmes asks.
"Look, I'll show you."
Watson picks up another stone and hands it to Holmes. He stands behind him and guides him in the motion. Holmes tries but doesn't do very well. Watson shows him again and they keep trying for hours. The sun starts to set when Holmes manages to skip a rock almost as far as Watson.
"Well done old fellow!" Watson cheers.
"I had an excellent teacher." Holmes blushes.
They start walking back the way they came when Holmes finds a perfectly smooth rock. He picks it up and shows it to Watson.
"Make a wish on that one as you skip it."
"Why?" Holmes chuckles but does as he's told. He makes a silent wish to grow old with Watson and releases the rock as Watson showed him.
"Well done darling." Watson beams as his arms circle Holmes' waist.
"Why did you make me wish?"
"I don't know. Just something silly we used to do as children." Watson chuckles. "I'm sure there's no truth in it, but we'll see if your wish comes true."
Holmes kisses Watson gently who melts into the kiss.
"It appears it may be." He smiles.
