Work Text:

It was no secret that Yellow loves Redstone. Heck, here he is, fighting for it.

And it was no secret either that he’s a dumbass. Because he could’ve done this the next morning with his friends so he wouldn’t be fighting all these mobs by himself. But it wasn’t that big of a deal, really. He was handling himself just fine.

In the midst of running for his life, trying to find the portal, he comes across a vibrant garden full of flowers of many different colors. This single thing is enough to make him stop his tracks and observe.

Blues and purples surrounded the grass around him. There was one in particular kind he swore he knew Blue liked. What was it? Oh! Cornflowers! They were all around in all shades of Blue.

Now that he’s here, it would be a good idea to pick some up and give them to him.

As long as he doesn’t die, of course.

He let out long, tired breaths as he entered their apartment. He had bruises all over him, and he was exhausted, but at least he has the flowers. Now, to give them to Blue. If he’s awake, of course.

When he went up the stairs, he was relieved to see a faint light below Blue’s door. What could he be doing awake at this time though?

He knocks on the door, “Blue?”

Blue opens the door; his eyes widen as he sees the condition Yellow’s in. “Yellow! What happened to you?” His hands flying to Yellow’s face, gently touching the bruises and cuts, “Does it hurt?”

Yellow couldn’t help but let his eyes flutter close for a moment, savoring Blue’s touch. “A little bit, but I got you this,” He rose up his hand.

Blue gasps as he saw the bouquet Yellow was holding. Cornflowers: his favorite, wrapped neatly in blue, patterned paper.

Yellow stood there, watching as the other man took the flowers with all the care in the world. His eyes began shining as he smiled. Yellow sighed dreamily. Blue let out a small giggle as he touched the petals.

He may have gone through hell just for some flowers, but this is his prize. That little face Blue does, acting like he always does towards plants; giggly, excited, gentle. It was a beautiful thing to witness.

And then, their eyes met and Yellow felt his heart flutter.

“What’s with that face?” Blue blushed.

“What face?” Yellow raised an eyebrow.

“Never mind,” Blue grabbed his hand, “Come on, let’s get you patched up.” He dragged him inside.

Yellow sat on his bed, comfortable and soft as ever. Sometimes, he wishes he could sleep in his bed instead of his own. “What are you doing awake anyways? It’s like 2 AM…” He breathed slowly as he felt Blue grab his face with one hand, the other pampering his scars with a wetted cloth.

Blue chuckled, knowing damn well he stayed up waiting for when this man finally came home just so he could fall asleep knowing he’s safe, “I was just reading.”

Yellow hummed, “It’s pretty late to be reading though,”

“And it’s pretty late to be out on Minecraft but you did it anyways,” Blue then attached several bandages on his face. Yellow pouted in response. “Where else do you have more scars?”

Without a word, Yellow began to unbutton his vest, as well as his button up. Blue’s breath hitched, but he didn’t let himself get another reaction out. Yellow just revealed his bare upper body to him, but it’s fine. It’s not like Blue was internally freaking out at the sight, it’s fine.

He swallowed and picked up the cloth again to treat all the scars around his arms and shoulders. “Face me, and fix your posture,” He flicked his fingers on Yellow’s lower back. The other man quickly straightened his back, letting out a small giggle, “Sorry.”

Blue brought the cloth to the tiny scratches in Yellow’s chest and abdomen. Yellow watched as Blue leaned closer; his gaze fixed on the scars. He felt his heart quicken. Does Blue treat the others like this? With such care and gentleness while also being so…close? He probably does, of course he would. He’s always been a sweetheart. But Yellow couldn’t help but wish that he was the only one he treated like this. The only one who would get to have Blue this close to him.

But then something clicked in his brain. He hadn’t thought of this before until now, “Don’t you usually have healing potions with you?”

“I ran out of ingredients,” Blue said.

“Oh, I can go get them—”

As soon as Yellow tried to stand up, Blue grabbed his shoulders and pressed him back down on the bed, “We’re doing that tomorrow, you need to rest.”

Yellow pouted. “Okay,”

Blue finalized patching him up with wrapping a blanket around him. “There.” He stared for a moment. Yellow was looking at the ground, his eyebags darker than ever, “You should really try to get some better sleep,” He grabbed his face with his hand, moving it to face him, “Look at you.”

Yellow felt his cheeks redden at the touch. His hand was freezing, but to Yellow, it only translated as a comforting cool. He looked at Blue with low lidded eyes, as if all the pampering had made him sleepy. As if being with Blue made him sleepy.

Blue couldn’t stop himself before caressing his cheek with his thumb, the action making Yellow’s eyes flutter close for a moment, but his gaze still fixed on Blue. “Why are you looking at me like that?” Blue giggled, his face flushed.

“Like what?” Yellow smiled.

“Nothing.” Blue stood up and began putting the flowers on a vase. “Thanks for the flowers by the way.”

“No problem. I was heading back home, and I saw them and I was like ‘oh, Blue likes these’ so I thought of giving them too you. There were a lot of mobs though, that’s why I’m so bruised,” Yellow chuckled at the memory of himself running away from the mobs while also picking up the flowers. Thank Cursors he wasn’t back there anymore.

Blue remained quiet. There were mobs chasing this man and he still got flowers for him. He was tired and hurt, but he still got flowers for him because he knew he would like them. The thought made his heart flutter. “You didn’t have to do all of that just for some flowers, you know?”

“But I wanted to…” Yellow’s voice was now small. Probably due to how sleepy he was.

He wanted to. What a man.

Blue giggles. How else could he thank him?

Then, he heard Yellow stand up, a few cracks following that and a groan. He should really fix his posture. “I should go sleep; sorry you had to do all this.”

“Oh, no, don’t apologize, I wanted to help you.” Blue turned to him.

“Thanks,” Yellow walked to the door, but before he could grab the doorknob, Blue walked towards him.

“W—wait.” Blue called out, nervousness lingering in his voice, which worried Yellow, making him wide awake.

“What’s u—”

Before he could even finish his sentence, cold hands wrapped around his cheeks and soft lips pressed against his own. Yellow’s brain malfunctioned at the sensation, every previous thought shutting off as he melted into the kiss.

And before he could get lost in the feeling of it all, Blue pulled him away, out of his room. Yellow felt a little dizzy at first. And when his vision finally focused again, Blue was looking at him, face completely flushed and embarrassed.

“Goodnight.” He said and shut the door without giving Yellow a chance to response.

Yellow stood in front of the door, completely shocked.

Blue kissed me. His mind happily sang. He brought a finger to his lips to try and replicate the feeling of Blue’s lips.

Yellow’s mind went into a daze; he giggled quietly to himself as he walked back to his room.

Blue kissed me.
