Be Mine

Summary:

Gin noticed her work partner acting strangely and confronts him about it.

Work Text:

The sun was setting and the sky began to turn a dark blue, the stars slowly appearing and shining down on her eyes through the cracks in the windows. The ground beneath them cold as they stayed seated, waiting for the signal to act. The old wear house was dusty and Gin was so extremely grateful for her trusty mask, without it she would have sneezed.

Tachihara was sat beside her with around an inch between them, he was nervous for reasons not over the mission and Gin can feel his nerves radiating off of him.

“What is wrong?” Gin asks genuinely concerned.

Tachihara looks off.

“Nothing is the matter.”

Gin knows he’s lying, she’s trained well by the hand of Verlaine on how to analyze breathing patterns and eye movements. She can see the slight change of breath of her partner and the way his eyes quickly move off of her.

“You are not telling the truth. I know something is bothering you.”

He rolls his eyes and looks at her.

“Can you just let this go.”

“No you aren’t going to lie to me and avoid talking to me.”

Gin hates lying, dishonesty tastes bitter because the people who lie cause harm. Her childhood of instability and needing to learn crafty methods to live by stealing has shown her first hand how cruel people can be. Especially the people that killed her fellow friends in the slums due to greed.

“Can we talk after the mission is over? Like we could go to this cafe nearby.”

“Fine.”

The wood chairs of the cafe are more of a vintage type and the walls are covered in artworks of coffee and tea. The aroma is strong of cocoa powder with a big sent of coffee beans. It’s semi busy so Tachihara was happy they even found a spot to sit. Gin decided to order a mocha latte with vanilla whipped cream while Tachihara decided on just a plain black coffee.

“Okay so first things first. I’m sorry.”

Gin sets her cup down.

“Sorry for what?”

“I’m sorry for lying to you about infiltrating the mafia and being a part of the hunting dogs…”

He takes a deep breath in and continues.

“I know how much you despise people who lie and I feel deeply ashamed that I betrayed your trust.”

Gin smiles and looks downwards at her cup, her hair softly falls forward.

“Is that all? I was worried for no reason then. I know you Tachihara you had good reason and you spared me. You could have just killed me back then but you didn’t.”

He gently rests his hand on hers that’s currently holding the warm mug. Gin looks up and her hair falls to the side as she stares deep into his eyes.

“Of course I wouldn’t kill you, I love you Gin. I love your fearless spirit, how cunning you are, and how loyal you are. I have wanted to tell you this for a long while.”

Gin’s eyes open wide and her lip slightly quivers as tears form in her eyes.

“I love you as well…”

“So what do you say? Want to get out of here and have some fun as girlfriend boyfriend and do some cheesy shit?”

Gin nods.

“Of course I want too! But please do not let my brother find out about this… I have to tell him to avoid him coming after you.”

“My brother was like that too so I get it, he was so protective over me when I was a kid.”

They both walk hand in hand out of the cafe ready to have a fun day, a day where they both can act like children for once.

A day two young in love teens need.
