“Good morning my rippling riptides!! Today I have a special adventure for you all!” Caine’s booming voice rang through the digital circus. “After lots of thinking and considering, I’ve decided that you should all socialize and learn… at school!!! You’ll be there for a week and I’m sick of you all bye!” With the snap of Caine’s fingers a portal appeared. “What the fu-” Zooble’s voice could be heard before getting cut off by pure silence. “Wowie! I’m so smart!” Caine said after they all disappeared.
Everyone lands on the ground with a loud thud. Small “ow…” and “ugh…” can be heard along with the thud. Ragatha goes to check on Pomni, Zooble and Gangle were holding hands, and Kinger… was being Kinger!!! They had all landed in front of a large unknown school. A school bell rang and mannequins with backpacks started walking through the school doors. “This can’t be real.” Jax mumbled to himself. He then sharply turns around and points at Gangle. “This is all your fault!!” “w-what…?” Gangle stutters out. “If it wasn’t for your gay a*bonk*s anime school adventure he never would have sent us here!!!” Zooble steps in and defends Gangle. “What does that have to do with anything? Maybe Caine just thought you were dumb and sent us here!” “Oh so you're protecting your little girlfriend now?” Jax snickered. Ragatha then stepped in. “Guys, let’s just calm down…” “Tch… I’m out of here. I don’t need any of you guys.” Jax walked off without another word, no expression on his face.
Jax headed to his locker, number 057. “This is so dumb…” He muttered to himself before slamming his locker shut and heading to class. He acted like he’s been going to this school for years, but he really has no idea where he’s going. He knew he needed to ask someone but internally refused to make himself seem like a dumb new kid. Besides, all the students were voiceless mannequins… or so he thought. While Jax was walking around cluelessly, something- no, someone caught his eye. This person he saw looked… quite like him, except he seemed to be red with spiky hair instead. “I can’t believe I’m doing this…” Jax thought to himself. Then he starts heading over to the red guy. “Hey, you.” Jax said. “O-oh, hello!” The boy said. “Where is Mr. Gregg’s math room?” Jax said with a groan. “Hey! I’m headed there too! I’ll show you” He extended his hand to shake. “My name is Thomas, what’s yours?” Jax reluctantly shakes Thomas’s hand. “Jax… My name’s Jax.” He sighed.
As the bell rang, the cafeteria filled with “people”. Friends sat with each other and loners ate by themselves. Jax didn’t want to admit it but he had no one to sit next to, then he spotted Thomas from earlier. Jax knew he couldn’t sit with the other circus members, not after earlier. He started to make his way over to Thomas and then sat down. “Oh, hey Jax!” Thomas said with a smile. “Yeah, hey…” Jax groaned. He couldn’t keep his eyes away from his other so-called “friends”. The way they laughed… the way it looked like they actually enjoyed each other’s company… It made him sick… totally not jellyous, just- sick. Jax opened his lunch bag that Caine gave to him. When he opened it all he found was… carrots? The whole bag was just carrots. He groaned (again) and tossed the bag to the side. “Are you not gonna eat anything?” Thomas said with slight concern in his voice. “Whatever…” Jax mumbled to himself and crossed his arms. Suddenly Thomas got up from his seat and went to sit next to Jax. “Is something wrong?” He said. A slight blush slowly creeps onto Jax’s face unwillingly. Why did he feel like this? “I’m fine!” Jax tried to scoot away.
The final bell rang through the school hallways. Everyone rushed out the doors and started to head home. Some people on bikes, some people walking, and some people carpooling with others. Jax was still by his locker, staring silently. A part of him didn’t want to go home… the other part yearned to finally lay in his bed. While he was lost in thought, someone crept up behind him. “Hey Jax!” Jax jumped at the sudden voice, quickly turning around. “O-oh ahem hey.” He said, trying to act nonchalant. “I-is… is something wrong?” Thomas said, stepping closer. Jax tried his best to not lose his cool, and almost failed. “I just don’t- nevermind…” He hated himself internally for almost sharing his feelings with someone, especially someone he just met. Thomas wanted to ask, but was afraid of pushing him too much. “I’ll just… go home then.” He said, backing away. “Wait!” Jax exclaimed out of nowhere. He sighs. “Can I…” ‘i can’t believe i’m doing this’ “Can I crash with you tonight?” Thomas’s eyes lit up. “Of course!” He grabbed Jax’s wrist and started walking to said location. “Oh, and I have a treehouse! And- and an Xbox! This is gonna be so fun!!” Thomas said with pure and utter joy. Meanwhile Jax was slowly questioning if he should regret what he was about to do.
Hours flew by when Jax and Thomas were around each other. All the laughs and giggles continued on for what seemed like ages and ages, but eventually they both seemed to get pretty tired. They decided to go to bed, except there was one small and minor problem… They had to share a bed. Jax and Thomas mutually agreed that it wasn’t that big of a deal because they both don’t mind, besides, they trust each other cause they’re friends!
As the night went on, the both of them never fully went to sleep. The occasional sound of limbs shifting under the bedsheets would break the empty silence. Jax began to think to himself. He knew that the person he was lying next to was just an npc… not important. While lost in thought, Jax decided to break the somewhat silence. “Hey, are you uh… awake still?” he said in a slight whisper tone. The sound of Thomas turning over could be heard before he spoke up. “Yeah… what’s up?”
“Do you know what an npc is?”
“You seriously woke me up to ask me that?”
“But you weren’t asleep in the first place.”
They both chuckle a bit and both sit up on the bed before Thomas replies. “Alright, alright… what about non-player characters?” Jax goes a bit silent, face going blank. God, why did he care? He snapped out of it, remembering that he enjoyed seeing unintelligent npcs figure it all out. “You know… that’s what you are.” Jax said blankly. “Tch, yeah right… what makes you think that I’d believe that bs.” Thomas said, extremely skeptical, almost laughing. “Do you even remember your so-called memories? Things about you? What you were doing before I came to school?” Thomas stayed silent, yet calm. He didn’t seem worried… why wasn’t he worried? The silence dragged on for what seemed like forever, until Thomas finally said something. He looked Jax in the eyes, they were pure and not afraid. “If I really am an npc like you say I am, what’s my purpose?” Jax didn’t have an answer for that one, not even a simple snarky comeback. “You know… you may be right. And I think I know my purpose then…” He leaned closer to Jax as he spoke. “I love you… and I want you to love me in the same way.”
Before Jax could even process the confession Thomas had already leaned in close enough to close the gap between them and kiss him. “What the hell?” Jax thought to himself. He put his hands on Thomas’s shoulders, ready to push him away. But he couldn’t? He felt warm and gross… As the kiss deepened, Jax’s overall shoulder strap slowly began to fall. Thomas then crawled over until he was on top of Jax. Jax’s grip on Thomas’ shoulders tightened, but in the way to express Jax’s fear disguised as anger. Thomas didn’t know that and let out a small sound of pleasure. “God, what’s this guy's problem?” Jax thought to himself “I’m so mad I could… I could” Then he started to pull on Thomas’ overalls, exposing more of his red skin, wait no, fur. Jax starts to wonder his hands over Thomas. When he does that, Thomas makes another sound pleasure through Jax’s lips. Jax was starting to get upset, but was he really? He broke the kiss and pushed Thomas off. “W-what’s wrong?” Thomas said, despair in his voice. “Just- stop!!” Jax yelled as he got up and started to leave the treehouse. Thomas cried out to him. He didn’t protest, he only said “You know I love you… right!?” No response was given.
As the week went on, Jax was waiting around for his final day here on this stupid adventure. Thomas would see him around sometime in the hallway, but never dared to say anything. Despair, it was all despair. It’s all this red rabbit could feel.
After just a month, Jax has moved away. My treehouse still smells like him… what happened on that day? Now im 42, i live with my wife. I dont really care for her i think i hate my life. Now i work at greggs. I miss him every day. Sometimes i pretend my wife is nagito i think i might be gay.
