Rui and Tsukasa often eat lunch together, and sometimes Tsukasa makes food for him. Today was no different. Tsukasa walked with brisk steps, carrying his shoulder bag containing his lunch, and a special bento that he had carefully crafted for Rui to enjoy. Afterall, today is Valentine's day.
Tsukasa was eager to see Rui’s face light up when he was presented with this carefully crafted, delicious meal made with love.
Without him noticing, he had begun quickening his steps, practically sprinting up the steps to reach the school rooftop, where he would be having lunch with-
“RUI!”
“Oh, hello to you too, Tsukasa-kun. What’s got you in such a rush?”
“A.. ah a rush?”
“You seem a bit out of breath there”
“I’m sorry, I was just.. really excited to eat lunch with you today..”
Rui’s face shifted ever so slightly into the reddish hue before the confusion set in.
“Ah but, don’t we eat lunch together everyday?”
“Yeah! but..”
Tsukasa invited himself to sit down next to Rui, sliding his shoulder bag off his shoulder.
“I have something for you..”
Tsukasa put his bag on the ground and took out the bento he made and handed it to Rui
“I made you a little something that I thought you might enjoy”
“Oh? you made me lunch?”
Rui suddenly looked at Tsukasa with skepticism
“You didn’t put any vegetables in here again, did you?”
“Of course not- listen, just open it..”
“fufu.. why of course. Now let's see-”
When he lifted the lid, his face shifted into one of awe. The bento in and of itself wasn’t anything too out of the ordinary, but the presentation was where it really shined. The meat was formed into the shape of stars and the onigiri was formed into the shape of hearts. The two shrimp tails were also arranged to look like halves of a heart. And to Rui’s delight, there wasn’t a single vegetable in sight. He looked up from the bento and turned his attention towards Tsukasa. He was looking down at the ground with his hand on his neck, eying Rui from afar. His face had shifted into a slightly red hue.
“It’s.. kind of cheesy, I know.. But.. I thought, since it was valentines da-”
“Tsukasa-kun”
Rui gently put down the bento on the floor and turned his attention to Tsukasa. Without saying a word, he simply wrapped his arms around Tsukasa, pulling him into a warm hug.
“Ah- y- yes..?”
“Thank you. I love it.”
“--!”
As much as Tsukasa wanted to stay like this, their lunch break wasn’t very long. If they were to continue, Rui wouldn’t even get to eat the delicious bento he made for him!
Tsukasa grabbed a hold of Rui’s shoulders and pushed him away.
“Alright alright! We can't stall like this forever! if we keep messing around, you’re not even going to have the time to eat the lovingly crafted bento I made for you!”
“alright Tsukasa-kun..”
Rui grabbed the chopsticks and took a bite out of the meat.
Tsukasa waited in anticipation for Rui’s response.
“Hm! This is really good.”
“It is??”
After Rui had finished chewing the meat, he clapped his chopsticks together and took a bite out of the heart shaped onigiri.
“Hm! Yes, it really, truly is delicious..The meat is very well seasoned, and the onigiri is nice and salty. But honestly, I always enjoy what you make for me.”
“But of course! I crafted it with love and care!”
"Huhu.."
Tsukasa began eating his own bento. Still occasionally eying Rui from afar as he continued eating
…
Rui continued to stare at Tsukasa while taking another bite of the food. Tsukasa’s facial expression turned a bit tense and confused.
“Uh.. What is it? Why are you staring at me like that?”
After finishing chewing his food, Rui paused for a moment and looked at Tsukasa once more. A warm and gentle smile spread across his face.
“Have I told you how adorable you are, Tsukasa-kun?”
"HMMMM-!?!?!?!”
Tsukasa shot up a bit in embarrassment, his face was completely red and his shoulders were tensed up. No matter how many times Rui flirts with him, he can’t help but get equally as flustered every time. It’s so frustrating how good Rui is at making him like this, it’s like he has some sort of supernatural talent for this sort of thing.
“.Y-You really need to stop saying that kind of stuff out of the blue you know..”
“Hmm? why so?”
“WELL-!”
Tsukasa took a second to pause, his usual open stature turned into a more introverted one, with him sitting with his legs crossed and having his hands holding his feet.
"It's.. unfair..”
"Oh?"
Rui began leaning closer towards Tsukasa until he was right up in his face, Tsukasa leaning as far away back as he could.
“In what way..?”
…
“I’m.. so weak.. when it comes.. to you..”
His face was somehow even redder than before, the close proximity to Rui likely being the culprit for this change in hue.
Rui almost felt a little bad for how much teasing he was doing today, but he can't help it.
He put his hand on Tsukasa’s chin, lifting it up so that they were at eye level.
“...”
“...”
Suddenly, just as Tsukasa was expecting a kiss, Rui scooted back out of Tsukasa’s space and got his signature devious smile.
“Tsukasa-kun, your reaction only makes you more adorable"
And with that, the bell rang, signaling the end of their lunch break. Rui quickly got up and quickly escaped the scene of the crime.
“Anyway, thanks for the bento, I love you, bye!~”
Before he got the chance to reply, Rui had already started walking down the steps.
“H-HEY!! RUI-! COME BACK HERE!!! YOU CAN'T JUST LEAVE ME HANGING LIKE THAT!!”
“Sorry dear! But If I kissed you know, we would both be late for class!”
“I- I EXPECT AN APOLOGY KISS AFTER SCHOOL!”
“You got it dear!”
