Work Text:

Planet's icy fingertips wrapped around the knob, slightly trembling. His head ached, heart hammering, breath uneven. The adrenaline rush from the battle with Branzy he chose to run from just moments earlier hasn't fully faded— mind still in fight or flight mode.

Everything was too loud. The sounds of pigs snorting, cows mooing, chickens clucking horses stomping— a whole load of runaway farm animals basically; conveniently just passing by.

The doorknob twisted under his grasp and swung it open, "I'm home." his voice, hoarse and scratchy.

He plopped onto the couch with his head propped up on the armrest, one arm over forehead: the other on his stomach. He sank into the couch cushions, shoulders and muscles finally relaxing. It's been awhile since he was on the run.

The coffee machine in the kitchen hummed, clicked, then poured. A strong scent of coffee beans lingered in the air. Shuffling footsteps from the kitchen echoed in his throbbing head.

"It's about time you came... back" a calm, familiar voice faltered, grounding Planet.

Planet eyes fluttered open only to see Spoke— mug in hand. He wore a worried expression painted all over his face. As he neared— he knelt in front of the couch, placing his cup on the floor beside himself.

"Planet," Spoke's voice was troubled, as his name left his mouth. He gently moved Planet's burning arm away just enough to see his flushed cheeks. He ran a hand over Planet's forehead.

"You're burning up." He stood up, “Give me a moment.” He disappeared into another room then came back with one of his own hoodies.

"Sit up for me, will you?" His words came out soft and sincere— missing its usual cheeky tone. Planet wanted to protest but gave up immediately. He propped himself up with one arm and sat up, leaning against the arm rest.

Spoke sat beside him and lightly tugged on the rib waistband of Planet's hoodie, asking for permission to take it off for him.

He nodded, letting Spoke help him out of it. They dragged the hoodie over Planet's head and discarded it off to the floor; Spoke's gaze fell onto Planet's healed scars from past PvPs.

His heart warmed at the thought of every single one being healed under his care. He attempted to count in his head how many times they did this before; how much he'd be willing to do it all over again without hesitation.

His eyes met Planet's, "Enjoying the view?" a grin crept up his flushed face.

Spoke turned crimson red, "Don't start. That wasn't why I was looking." He averted his gaze from Planet.

"I'm not doing anything" Planet raised both his hands in surrender. "I am simply asking a simple question." Just because of that—he deserved the hoodie Spoke threw to his face.

He chuckled and put it on without further delay. Planet leaned in and pecked at Spoke's lips, almost missing entirely.

Spoke let out a huffed giggle despite himself. It's hard to stay irritated at Planet. His hands slid into Planet's, and pulled him over himself as he laid down.

Planet rested on top of him— his head against the other's chest, feeling the rhythm of its rise and fall. One hand clinged onto Planet's, while the other: was threaded under Planet's arm and on his back, tracing gentle circles.

Planet leaned into his touch, feeling the radiating warmth of Spoke's body, letting a low noise escape his throat.

Spoke basked in Planet's soft curls— his hair tickled and brushed Spoke's face, as he inhaled Planet's Intoxicating fragrance that smelled of fresh blooms. His eyelids drooped then shut.

In that moment, the world narrowed down into just the two of them. Their breaths synchronised, legs tangled, fingers intertwined.

As they slipped into sleep, they stayed like that—bodies close, hearts aligned. Even their dreams couldn't keep them from drifting apart.
