Chapter Text

‘When Chat Noir makes a joke, make sure to laugh, it makes him happy.’

I smile at my phone, trying to keep myself busy on the train ride to London. I look up at my parents and watch them cuddled together, looking at a news station. I can only smile. I look back down and start typing some more, feeling at peace. Glad that I can not worry about being Ladybug for the weekend.
I continue typing when suddenly a notification pops up on my phone, ‘Show me what you value the most.’
Is this an Akuma? I move my phone quickly only to see my parents' phones in my face. I look at the screen and how it glitches when I suddenly get teleported into a different train station. Huh? I look up and look at the people around me. People are talking, but I can't really decipher what they are saying. I rush out of my seat, the overhead speakers saying something, all I could decipher was, ‘Chicago.’
I run out, people looking at me strangely before minding their own business.

I look around before seeing a sign, ‘Welcome to Chicago.’

I feel my eyes starting to get wet. Did the akuma teleport items to different locations? I ran out of the subway, just looking at everyone and everything. I look and watch a car zooming at me. I put up my arms and duck, trying to use my Akuma fighting instincts, but the car never hit. I look up and see a man with a red cape and a gnarly mustache. He looks me up and down and asks, “Are you okay?”

English? I nod, and he zooms off. Chicago has heroes? New York didn’t mention that. I look at him, confused as he zooms away. I pull out my phone and go to call my maman. I press her contact and put it up against my ear, ‘The number you are dialing is no longer in service-”

Huh? I dial again and again, but nothing happens. I start freaking out now. I call Papa, Nino, and everyone. I get the same dial-up tone every single time. I start freaking out now. I look up the bakery and still nothing. Infact it doesn't exist. Where am I? What did this Akuma do? I look at my purse, seeing the hundred dollars I saved for fabrics I had been eyeing. I just need to survive. Alya will solve everything soon, and I will be back home, but for now, I need to find somewhere safe to reside.
I run through the streets when something in my head tells me to look to my right, and there I see a restaurant. I look and notice how empty it is. I head in, just trying to follow my gut. I walk in and see an American boy who is behind the counter sweeping. He was quite handsome, not Adrien Agreste handsome but handsome. I walk up and notice that I can't really buy anything. I pull out my debit card, hoping it still works. “And what can I get you?”

I look up at the menu and see how all the English words are jumbling around. I look at the pictures and see two burgers, I point and crack out, “two burger please.”

He smiles and takes my card, thankfully it goes through. I dont know why my bank card still works but I am going to be thankful for it. He gives me a number and tells me to sit down at a table and wait to hear my number get called. I nod and sit down, I look at the grease stained restaurant and set down a napkin before sitting in a booth. I look around and start to think about how long it will be before I get sent home. If it is more then a day here, then I will look for a place to stay.
I hear my number get called and I rush over. The man behind the counter looks at me and I just thank him before rushing back to my seat. I watched him for awhile, while I slowly ate my burgers. I looked on my phone to see if there was anything familiar, but low and behold, nothing. No New York heroes that Chat and I met and nothing happening in Paris with Akuma’s. I sigh and try and catch up with things happening in this foreign world.
I learned a lot as I sat there. I learned about ‘the guardians of the globe’ and small teams as well. I saw how common super powers where and my personal favorite was Dark Wing. He kinda felt like ‘Batman’. I am willing ot bet good money that Dark Wing is the actual leader of ‘the guardians’, got a Bruce Wayne type vibe.

Finally the boy comes up to me, “Sorry to interrupt, but… We are closing.”

I nod and leave, making sure to throw everything away, he looked confused about my reaction but I just waved and left. I walked down the streets of Chicago, deciding to hide in a Hospital waiting room for the night. People asked if something was wrong with me and I lied that I had an injury but it wasnt sever so I was just waiting. They would nod, get called and leave. I open my notes app, staring at my notes for Chat Noir.
I wasnt allowed to sleep, not here. I watched the hours tick by, charging my phone through the night just trying to update myself on my surroundings. In the morning I left, and I came to the decision. I need to keep myself safe, and I need to find a home that isnt me in the hospital.
I looked around for hours looking through newspaper ads before landing on one. “In need of a cook, free room when accepted.”
I smile and immediately call the number. It was a short call and when they heard I used to work in a bakery, they immediately gave me the address. Okay, first step is down.
