Work Text:

Saturday 23:48

It's saturday night. The second semester of their third year ended yesterday and the weather is perfect. The high of another year flying by still lingering in the air. The streets are alive. It's loud, it's fun, it's colorful. It feels like youth should feel.

That's exactly how Lovro ended up in a bar with his friends, drinking away all memories this school year brought. The highs and lows, love and fear, a little bit of shame and a lot of bravery and pride. Lovro doesn't think it's too late, just the perfect time for another bottle. His cheeks are pink, his eyes droopy and his friends way too carried away in another conversation to stop him.

It's not his first time to have a little too much to drink. He drinks. He smokes. Sometimes both simultaneously. All in all, he can drink. But sometimes, it gets too much before he can notice.

That's how he found himself drunk out of his mind, forehead glued to the bar table, hiding behind his arms, his friends's conversation becoming just background white noise.

Between the ringing in his ears, he picked up on his lovers name being mentioned. Even if his senses weren't the clearest at the moment, the warm feeling spreading inside of him confirmed it was indeed said.

The rest of the conversation was a blur, Lovro started slurring his name, small smile spreading on his face while he thought of Ivan.

In a daze, he could hear his friends trying to make small talk with him, but now they all sounded pretty sobered up and a little worried. He wasn't that gone, was he?

He didn't know how long he's been in this position, but it was probably a long time since his hands started cramping up, yet he didn't have the strength to move them at all. He felt a hand on the back of his neck, massaging him and speaking to him in words he couldnt pick up on. He couldn't be sure, but he thought it must be Jakov.

The rest of the group got up to greet someone and within a few seconds, he felt familiar touch at the small of his back.

"Ljubavi, are you okay?"

Lovro heard his lovers worried voice and immediately picked himself up.

"Ivannnnnn~", he raised his voice, stretching out his hands and putting them on Ivan's shoulders, smiling stupidly up at his boyfriend.

Ivan smiled back at him, lowering himself so Lovro can fully hug him and rest his entire weight on him. The minute he came down, Lovro hugged him tight, pushing his face in his neck and breathing him in. Behind his back, Ivan greeted Jakov and inquired about how much Lovro had to drink.

It still made him feel some type of way – Ivan and Jakov interacting. Two of his favourite people getting along, even if it was initiated by himself getting pissed drunk.

"Come on ljubavi, opa-", Ivan said as he helped Lovro up on his feet and it took everything in Lovro to not kiss him in a full bar. So, he settled on just pecking him quickly, 'blink and it's gone' type of kiss.

"Thanks for giving me a call, I got him now", Ivan said as he led Lovro away, "See you around" , he finished.

"Bye-bye", Lovro slurred sweetly while they kept getting further away, still holding Ivan close.

As they left the bar, Lovro let go of Ivan and spread his arms, walking into the night. What a feeling it is to be drunk and young with the love of his life on a random Saturday night? He thought as he turned back at his lover, taking his hands and intertwining them with his own, spreading them at their sides.

"Jedna mladost jedan svijet nade.." , he began quietly, "– raste tiho u srcu mom..", Lovro continued.

He was drunk before, so he more-less knew how he acted when he got drunk. But he didn't know how it is to be both drunk and in love before. Blame him.

Ivan was smirking at him, pulling Lovro's hands around his neck and putting his own on his waist, rubbing their noses together.

"But I thought Josipa's vinyl in your room was Nora's?" , he teased.

"It's mine. I bought it for you. So we can listen to her at my place too." , and now he was apparently an honest drunk, too.

"Oh really? How about going home now and listening to her then, hm?", Ivan gently started persuading him, trying to get them home while Lovro could still stand on his own.

"But I want to be with you right now." Lovro spoke in his neck, and Ivan could swear he felt a slight pout.

"I'll stay with you tonight, I'm sure Vito and Maša won't mind me, I'll be on my best behaviour. Promise.", he reassured Lovro while giving him small pecks across his neck and started slowly walking him backwards to the place where he left his scooter.

When they approached the infamous tomos, Ivan took Lovro's helmet and helped him put it on. Safety first, of course. As Lovro lifted his gaze, Ivan remembered that as much as he loved his boyfriend, the blue glossy eyes looking tiredly up at him were probably his absolute favourite.

He sat Lovro down and sat on the scooter soon enough himself. Lovro settled behind him quickly and hugged him tight, resting his cheek on his back, eyes closed.

As Ivan started driving, he could feel Lovro smiling into his back, his hands lifted at his sides, the air pushing through his jacket. He felt like flying.

"What's up?" , he called back at Lovro, wondering what's got his lover smiling that much.

"Nothing. Just remembering the first time we met you also drove me back home. I liked you even back then, you know.", he replied, the tiredness evident in his voice, the alcohol lingering behind tasting painfully like admitting how desperately in love he was with his boyfriend from the minute he saw him.

"Ljubavi, you don't have to tell me these things when I'm driving. How about telling me all about it when we get home?", Ivan fondly replied, trying to look back at Lovro while still keeping his eyes on the road. His body getting relaxed, leaning back slightly into Lovro. Only then did Lovro lower his hands, putting them back around Ivan's stomach, looking up at the stars and breathing in this feeling.

"Okay." , he sighed.

Ivan trailed behind him, holding his waist as Lovro giggled and clumsily unlocked the doors to the apartment. They stumbled inside, Ivan grabbing Lovro's jacket and helping him out of it while also taking his off, leaving them both over the chairs in the kitchen. They'll think about that tommorow.

Juat as he poured Lovro a glass of water, he heard music coming from his room. Soon enough, he found Lovro sprawled out on his bed, making angels through his blankets and pillows, humming to Josipa's song. He leaned on the door frame for a few moments, just admiring Lovro, trailing his eyes over him. The music still echoing through the room pulled him out of his thoughts – he uncrossed his arms and walked up to the record player before removing the vinyl from it, feeling responsible not to wake Vito and Maša up. Hearing his boyfriends whine, he turned around.

"Noooo, why did you turn it off? Put it back on."

His boyfriend protested and started getting up to do it himself when Ivan came closer and sat on the bed, shushing him. He pushed him slightly back on the bed, removing hair out of his pretty face, tracing his features and gently caressing the beauty marks on his cheek with the back of his fingers.

"Maša and Vito are asleep, ljubavi. Tomorrow, I promise." , Ivan said, kissing his forehead tenderly.

Almost asleep, Lovro used up last of his strength to pull Ivan down with him, pressing his face into his chest.

"Since you won't allow Josipa now, you can listen to my heart.", Lovro pouted sleepily, his hands in Ivan's hair, slightly pulling on the strands.

Hearing that, Ivan immediately relaxed and laughed heartly, putting his entire weight on Lovro.

"Okay then ljubavi, I prefer this anyway.", he replied as he hugged Lovro tight and closed his eyes as well.

Ivan wasn't drunk on alcohol, but could someone be drunk on love? He certainly felt it was possible.

In that moment, he felt as though he lived many lives, and in each one he loved Lovro a little more. All that love accumulated over time and found its way to him, leading him back to Lovro.

They fell asleep that way – fully clothed, in their shoes, entirely in love.
