Holding you close to his chest, Jade narrowed his eyes at the gang of beastmen that attempted to rape you.
Five of them in total, were sneering back at Jade. Two of them lustfully stares at you and the rest were just angry stares directed towards Jade for ruining their fun.
You couldn’t hear what Jade was talking, nor what he said to them, for you were directing your attention towards your exhausted legs and ripped clothes.
Just as you thought you were safe, one of the beastmen lashed out towards the both of you. Jade’s grip tightened around your arm and swiftly dodged the blatant attempt in attack. ‘You’re quite a bold one,’ you recalled Jade smiling. ‘Lashing out to attack on a poor girl just to satisfy your temptations and desires?’
‘Give her back or you will be hurt.’ Another one approached you both. Jade simply chuckled and took out his phone. He fiddled with it for a bit and called someone.
One rings, two rings……
By the third ring, Jade hung up the call and stuffed the phone back into his pocket.
‘Well, come and get me.’ Jade flashed a maniacal grin. ‘You all certainly look like a couple of weaklings.’
The leader of the gang whipped out his magic pen, but Jade was faster. Without an incantation, Jade struck the leader with magic on his shin, earning a yelp from him.
‘You fucking slimy moron!’ The second yelled and charged at Jade. In the split second as Jade dodged him by merely shuffling to the left, you stuck out your leg and tripped the beastman.
‘That’s interesting, coming from someone that just fell for the oldest trick in the book.’ You heard Jade’s sneer just above your head. ‘How pathetic.’
The other beastmen seemed to hesitate and were struck by fear as they watched their pack leader go down on the slippery road. But recovered quickly and three of them charged towards Jade and you.
A blurred figure leaped out in one of the corridors, landing two kicks onto two beastmen at the same time.
‘Ahh yes, my dear, sweet brother,’ Jade greeted the tall silhouette cheerily, as if he bumped into each other at a park. ‘Just in time, I knew you would come.’
‘Woah! These beasties are getting out of hand!’ Floyd giggled as he landed perfectly on the ground. The last beastman realised he was alone, and started trembling.
‘Heeeaaayya!’ Floyd approached him, the beastman clearly flinched at his sheer height. ‘You seem like a person that can’t keep it in their pants!’
‘Please….. no I simply just tagged along!’ The beastman cried in fear. ‘Aw man, you are no fun,’ Floyd held his face close to him eerily. The beastman’s fingers reached towards his magic pen, ready to blast Floyd’s face clean.
‘Floyd, watch o-‘ you yelled weakly.
The beast man opened his mouth, ready to yell the incantations.
‘Bind the Heart.’
The magic flashed from the beastman’s magic pen dispersed, clearly shocked that he missed.
Floyd grabbed his body and squeezed him. Having a blood curdling scream ripping through the thick fog seemed like something from a horror movie. You shuddered against Jade’s chest as he places a hand on your head.
Jade noticed the leader seemed to start regaining consciousness. He signaled a hand sign you didn’t understand towards Floyd, you saw his twin brother nodded and showed his teeth with excitement.
Well, thank goodness he seems to be a good mood today.
Jade lead you slowly to the corridor where Floyd appeared earlier on, made a few turns before a car came into the view.
He helped you onto the backseat, before getting in and slamming the door behind him. ‘How are you feeling?’ Jade inquired as he covered your body with a blanket.
‘Startled.’ you choked back tears. Jade brushed your hair away from your face and pats your shoulder.
‘Is there any way I could provide additional assurance to you?’ Jade asked quietly, tipping your chin up to his eye level. Your eyes were glassy, unsure from embarrassment or anxiousness. You paused and thought before answering him.
‘It would indeed bring me much assurance if I’m not indebted to you and Floyd.’ You tapped your shoe’s tips against each other. Jade laughed heartily, but not loud enough to startle you.
‘Consider this as a small gift for you.’ Jade smiled.
‘Then…. I would like to have you hold me close to you just as how you did to me earlier on.’ You knew you were bold, too bold. Maybe this time Jade won’t let it slide, it may cost you a week’s worth of Mostro Lounge shifts.
‘Fufu, you are trying your luck, hm?’ Jade chuckled as you twiddled with your thumbs. Oh well, can’t say you didn’t try at all.
To your surprise, Jade extended his opened arms at you, enticing you to melt into his arms. However, you knew better. So you squinted at his actions and gave him your best side eye look.
‘Surely I promise you will not be indebted in any way,’ Jade reassured, or attempted to. ‘Even in Mostro Lounge shifts.’
You took all that risk and scooted closer to Jade, before allowing your body to fall against him.
‘Thank you, Jade.’ You whispered against his dress shirt. His crisp, fresh cologne beckons you closer, and you accepted its invitation.
Jade’s heart softened at both the sight of you and your words. You were lulled to sleep from his heartbeat and stilled breathing. The cologne wasn’t helping as well, and Jade noticed.
‘You could take a nap.’ Jade gently encouraged. ‘Floyd is done with the dealings. He is now heading back to us and will drive us home. It’s slightly late, but you could just stay with us just for the night.’
You knew you really shouldn’t accept this offer, who knows it might take a kidney to payback all these favours this time.
Little did you know, Jade has already begun to develop a soft spot for you. So much so he will then vowed to protect you and make you happy.
