Chapter Text
Davide was in the shower when he heard his mobile phone ring.
"Rosie?" Davide shouted. "Could you please…"
Rosie pulled the shower curtain to the side with a smile. Rosie was Davide's fiancée with long red hair, green eyes, freckles and long legs that drove Davide nuts. Rosie was a year older than Davide, but neither minded.
"Oh, Principessa," Davide said. "You look divine and damn sexy as always."
Rosie was wearing one of Davide's shirts, and if he had to guess, she was butt naked underneath it. Even after two years together, Davide still didn't know how he managed to score the most beautiful girl in the entire world. Maybe Nicky was right, that sometimes the universe does grant you gifts. And Davide made damn sure to thank the universe for Rosie.
"Thanks," Rosie replied with the smile that Davide loved. "Do you like my new outfit?"
Rosie spun around on the spot.
"Oh, I do," Davide replied. "And it leaves me with a dilemma. Should I tear the shirt off your body, or should I take you to bed and do wonderful things to you while you wear the shirt?"
"If you do the last thing, you could wear the shirt to work," Rosie suggested. "And when the Bimbos ask what kind of perfume you are wearing, you can tell them that it is your fiancée's perfume. And if they still don't get the message after that…"
Davide kissed Rosie.
"Please don't kill anyone, okay?" Davide said. "Not five weeks before our wedding."
Yes, they might be young (Davide was 20 and Rosie was 21), and there would be a chance the marriage wouldn't last, but they didn't care. They wanted to get married, and that was what they were doing.
"Okay," Rosie replied. "I will save the murdering for the honeymoon."
Davide laughed and turned off the water.
"Could I ask you to see who is calling me?" Davide asked. "If it is work, I can ignore it for ten minutes more."
"Of course," Rosie replied. "But you owe me."
"Write it on the tab over favours I owe you," Davide replied. "Love you."
"Love you, too," Rosie replied. "Where is your mobile phone again?"
"Beats me," Davide replied. "Just follow the sound."
Rosie found Davide's mobile phone next to the bag of crisps he had eaten last night before bed.
"Davide," Rosie said. "It is your Mama calling."
"My Mama," Davide replied. "I need to get dressed before I talk with her."
Rosie laughed and watched Davide search for some clothes.
"I really hope you don't plan on going to work looking like that," Rosie said. "And why do you even still have those ugly jeans?"
Davide looked down at himself. He was wearing shorts, two different kinds of coloured socks and Rosie's flower top.
"I have special feelings about these shorts," Davide replied. "I wore them on the day I met you."
"Oh, I did not know that," Rosie replied. "Sorry."
Davide kissed Rosie.
"Don't be, you could not have known that," Davide said. "Could I please have my mobile phone, because if my Mama is calling me before 8 A.M., there must be some sort of emergency."
Rosie gave Davide his mobile phone, and after kissing Rosie, Davide called his Mama.
"Hi, Mama," Davide said. "Is something wrong?"
"To be honest, I don't know," Elena replied. "It is Nicoló."
"Nico?" Davide asked. "Is he okay?"
"That I don't know," Elena replied. "Yes, he eats, but what worries me is that he has stopped running."
"He has stopped running?" Davide asked. "Okay, I am on my way. I will be there in an hour. Love you, Mama. Can I talk with Papa?"
After talking with his Papa, Davide ended the call and found Rosie, who was now wearing a thin summer dress.
"Listen, Rosie," Davide said. "I will take a sick day today. And I got my boss' blessing to do it."
Davide's boss was his Papa.
"Okay," Rosie replied. "Is something wrong?"
"Don't know yet," Davide replied. "But I am going to find out."
Davide told Rosie about the talk he had with his Mama.
"Go, and be a big brother," Rosie said. "Because it sounds like Nico needs it."
"Thanks," Davide replied. "Have I told you that I love you today?"
"Only three times," Rosie replied. "And I feel neglected."
Davide laughed and kissed Rosie.
"I love you, Rosemary," Davide said. "More than I can ever put in words."
"I feel the same way, and I love you, too," Rosie replied. "Oh, you got lipstick on your face."
Before Rosie could remove the lipstick, Davide took her hand.
"Leave it," Davide said. "As a way to tell the Bimbos that I got a fiancée."
"That is not a bad idea," Rosie replied. "Get going. See you tonight."
"At 5 P.M. at the flower shop?" Davide asked. Rosie nodded. "And I have to remember to bring Nico because he is the only one we know with any sense of what colours go together."
"Correct," Rosie replied. "It should only take ten minutes today. And then we will eat a burger."
"Sounds good," Davide replied. "Have you seen the car keys?"
Davide saw that Rosie was holding the car keys.
"If I kiss you," Davide said. "Can I have the car keys?"
"Yes, but I also want you to do something for me," Rosie replied. "I want you to find a barber, because you don't have the face for a beard."
"Noted," Davide replied. "Okay, before I leave, I have to kiss you and tell you I love you. Then, I'll be a big brother for Nico before seeing a barber and meeting you at 5 P.M. at the flower shop. Was that all?"
"Yes," Rosie replied. "You remembered everything."
After kissing and telling Rosie he loved her, Davide left and drove towards his parents' house.
