I wake up to the blaring of my alarm clock, groaning I sit up, today is the first day of school, yay me.
At least I'll have the others in some of my classes.
I get to school just in time to hear the bell and I slip in to homeroom without anyone noticing me.
I sit down next to Kai at the back of the classroom where I usually sit.
I check my schedule today, it's not too bad but it could be better.
"Hey Lloyd," Kai says, obviously wanting to ask me something.
"Yeah?" I reply.
He slips me his schedule and I compare mine to his like I normally do, we have P.E, science, math and English together, which is pretty good.
We start talking about random stuff until the door bursts open and there stand Jay, out of breath and looking like he hadn't slept all night.
"And where have you been, Mr Walker?" Ms Carter asks, clearly not amused but we all know she's not gonna give detentions this early in the morning.
Jay stutters out some excuse about oversleeping or something.
After homeroom I head straight to history with Mr Rhodes, to be fair, he's actually a great teacher and he's really enthusiastic about history, but come on, who's that happy at 8 in the morning?
I walk into class and immediately sit near the back corner and I see Nya sitting there so I sit beside her.e
"Hey Lloyd," she says, surprised, "I didn't think any of you had history today.
"Well surpise," I say, my tone flat, jeez, why was I so tired?
Mr Rhodes starts the lesson before she can respond and I just focus on trying to doodle in the corner of mu notebook, history was probably one of my least favorite subjects, right beside math.
By the time it's 5th period I've already earned myself a detention at lunch for not paying attention in class and honestly, I couldn't care less.
I actually try in Mrs Ramirez's class though, but I suck at foreign language.
By the time class ends I feel slightly proud of myself for actually trying.
I end up getting out of detention because its the first day back and I rush to grab lunch and sit with the others.
"Hey guys what did I miss?" I ask as i sit down.
"Nothing much." Cole says, shrugging, "we do have a load of homework though."
I sigh, knowing that it'll take hours to get through it all.
"By the way, we have a training exercise tommorow" Zane says.
"Shit I totally forgot about that!" Kai exclaims.
I grin as the others start bickering amongst themselves.
Today is good.
When I get home I immediately plop down on my bed, absolutely exhausted and just want to go to sleep.
"Lloyd! Come down for dinner!" Mom shouts around 30 minutes later.
"Coming!" I reply as I rush downstairs, Mom's cooking is the best and I want to see what she made today.
She's humming to herself as she dishes up the plates.
She puts them down on the table and I feel immediately happier because it is her homemade ramen for dinner!
The first bite is absolutely bliss as I taste the thick noodles and chicken broth and all the warm, steamed vegetables.
She asks me a few questions about my day but I give her some brief answers so she doesn't get too suspicious about my grades.
Afterwards I check the time, 6:03pm, I ask Mom if I can go out with friends and and maybe stay the night, she said yes, but I have to be back by 2pm tommorow.
I hurry to my room and put my gi on and hurry to the monestary for training, apparently word got around of a robbery tonight at 10.
Turns out I'm the first to arrive, I thought Zane would be here, he's always on time, Cole is most of time and Jay, Kai and Nya are pretty much always late.
I check my phone and realise I have about 20 messages, I click on then and realise that their downtown, dealing with the robbery, they must've caught wind that we were on to them and decided to do it earlier.
I'm their within 5 minutes and I watch and Kai is locked in hand to hand combat, unable to use his fire without leaving himself open.
The others and in semi-similar situations, "Green!" I hear from someone to my left, my heads snaps that way instantly and I see cyan, (Nya), she must've been the one to call so I rush to help her first.
We manage to take them down together and have to check if there are any more of them around, turns out there isn't so we go off to help the others.
We would've been able to win eventually, except from the fact about 10 more surrounded us just after we got through the remaining ones.
They were carrying guns, and knives and they looked like they wanted to use said guns and knives.
Before any of us could react, one of them fired, the bullet flew through the air and hit me right in the chest.
I collapsed, blinded for a split second, the pain was unbearable, White spots danced around in my vision.
I could feel someone dragging me, but I don't know if it was my friends, or enemies, all I know is that I was falling into darkness.
My eyes shot open immediately, and I recognised nothing, I try to reach for my powers but my hands are tied with vengestone.
After what feel likes hours but was probably a couple of minutes , someone walks in, I immediately remember I'm unmasked, everyone here knows my identity. I'm. So. Screwed.
"Well, well, well, the little hero is awake," he says, trying to draw a reaction out of me.
"Yeah," I reply, "it was a lovely nap, but I must gte going, so maybe you could untie me and I'll be on my way."
He smirks, then mutters something to the other guard, I don't hear it but I know in my gut that it must be something bad.
After around 10 minutes he walks over and stops right in front of me.
He reaches for something in his pocket and I tense, preparing for something awful.
He takes out a knife and gently puts it on my throat and I know that he's trying to threaten me.
"You have a choice, green ninja." He tells me, his voice had an edge to it.
I don't reply and wait for him to go on.
"You can tell me all the other ninjas identities, or I could use this knife to get the answers out of you."
"I will never tell" I spit out, showing him I'm not afraid of him.
"Ah, you do have a voice, such a shame that we really couldn't see eye to eye."
After that he plunged the knife into the same shoulder the bullet pierced me with.
I cry out I pain, unable to feel anything but that overwhelming ache in my shoulder but I don't know if it's from the bullet or the knife embedded in there, probably both.
After a while, sleep finally pulls me under, the comforting lull of darkness surrounding me and growing bigger and bigger until I fall asleep.
When I wake up I realise I'm back in the monestary infirmary, I bite back a sob, realising the others must've rescued me while I was unconscious.
Zane walks into the room, "Hello, Lloyd, good to see your awake."
I forget to reply as I watch him check my vitals.
"It seems like nothing was badly damaged," he continued as if he'd never stopped in the first place.
I smile and hug him, he returns in surprising warmth.
"The others will be wanting to see you." He tells me, but before I can reply he says, "What happened before we rescued you?"
"It's nothing big," I say anxiously, hoping he doesn't press and to my relief he just nods with that worried look in his eyes.
I walk outside to see the others training like usual and see Jay and Cole arguing over something stupid.
Kai comes running up to me and gives the tightest hug I've ever had from him or anyone else.
"Lloyd! Your back!" He says, and that's when I knew it was all gonna be okay.
