Cole’s Motion Sickness

Summary:

Cole has motion sickness. It’s really annoying

Work Text:

It is quite ironic that the ninja with the most car sickness, gets a car as his vehicle.

At least as Cole guesses, when driving it’s a bit better. And so far nobody knows about it, which he would prefer to stay that way.

This time they decided to go on a long road trip, with Kai as the driver. Cole made sure to take a car sickness tablet as per the directions written on it, but he was like 97% sure it wasn’t actually meant to do anything other than just make you believe you won’t be sick.

Now he sat down in his seat next to Zane, just grateful that all seats are next to windows in this vehicle.

10 minutes in.

‘Oh my fsm just switch to some other station, I can’t bear to listen to that song again’ Jay groaned

‘Hah no, this is my beat. If I’m gonna drive, at least let me do it in style!’

The bickering wasn’t getting caught by Cole as he was battling with himself, and his gradually growing nausea.

He closed his eyes and attempted to sleep or zone out, or do anything else. Sometimes it helps.

‘Are you feeling alright Cole? You seem rather pale’

Cole nearly jumped out of his skin, as he forgot someone was sitting next to him, the spike in blood pressure doubling his nausea.

‘Hmh y-yeah. Just peachy.’

‘Right. You can open the window, you know’

Cole quickly, perhaps too quickly for someone ‘feeling just peachy’, shot his hand over to the button to roll down the window, relishing in the cool wind hitting his face, easing his nausea.

Yeah, he can do it like this, he’s feeling much better.

40 minutes in.

It seems whatever usual bickering between Kai and Jay is going on, is somewhat distracting Kai from his driving job, swerving and hitting any and all bumps possible, even on empty smooth like butter roads.

Zane glanced over at Cole, noting his dishevelled state. He was paler than before, sweating profusely and had an occasional tremor in his body.

‘Cole are you sure you’re alright?’ His skepticism all but hidden.

‘Mhm just fine.’ He forced out. Honestly he was on the verge of throwing up, half present in reality other than his full focus going towards keeping his stomach contents down.

Each bump he felt his stomach slosh, the discomfort from which gave him goosebumps.

‘I don’t know, we can pull over if you need.’

‘No, no I’ll be hmgh-‘ He was interrupted by a particularly bad bump, making bile rise up to his throat. Oh he’s not gonna survive this one.

Zane instantly knew that things were bad, Cole looked like he’s one swerve away from covering the front seat.

‘Kai pull over’ not heard over the bickering. ‘Kai.’
He heard more sounds coming from Cole after another swerve ‘Kai pull over right now!’

Finally the driver heard him, and stopped in a few seconds, looking back in confusion.

As soon as the car stopped, Zane unbuckled Cole’s seatbelt, and Cole shot up from the car, nearly tumbling over his weak knees, getting caught by Zane, who rushed out to help the friend.

They stumbled over to the nearest bushes, and while being held up by Zane, Cole gagged, shaking violently.

‘C’mon, I’ve got you Cole’

Soon enough the retching came, and Cole’s figure almost folded over into the dirtied bush, fully supported by Zane’s hold on him.

After Cole was finished dry heaving, and was just left shaking and breathing heavily, Zane dragged him over back to the car, where he was seated facing outside.

‘Hey, you doing alright back there?’ Jay asked worried, Kai’s face looking no less concerned.

‘It appears Cole suffers from motion sickness, or in this case car sickness.’ Zane said, passing over wet tissue over to Cole to clean himself.

Cole’s face now looked way less pale, but now red in embarrassment. A ninja, and to have such a silly thing as motion sickness.

‘It’s completely normal, especially considering your reckless driving, Kai.’

Kai looked over at Zane and back to Cole in shame.

‘Oh! Haha, sorry sorry. Didn’t notice, I’ll be more careful this time. And you, Jay, don’t distract me!’ Kai punctuated the last sentence by shoving a finger in Jay’s chest

‘Hey! You started it!’

‘Anyway. Cole, should we head back, or are you alright to keep going?’ Zane asked the black ninja, tapping his shoulder as the other seemed to be dozing off

‘Oh! Hm-h yeah yeah we can keep goingh, I’ll just be sleepin’’

He buckled himself in, and almost instantly went light out, snoring loudly. All that stress and nausea (and vomiting of course) taking a lot out of him, not waking up at all for the rest of the 5 hour journey.
