Dad never calls .
After Dragon defecting from the Marine and starting the Revolutionary Army , his father had made his mission to avoid him .
Not that Dragon didn’t avoid him in return.
They both are Monkey D stubbornness runs in their blood .
Dragon is in no illusion that he and his father will ever be able to mend things between them . He is a Marine Vice Admiral while Dragon is the Leader of the Revolutionary Army.
But it also didn't change that sometimes in moments of weakness Dragon missed his dad . Only just a little bit.
After all, his dad raised him alone with the help of the whole Fussa village. Most of the morals and values that Dragon still follows are the ones he earned from his dad. It's safe to say ,
They have the same values with different approaches .
So , when Dragon received a call on his private Dan Dan in the middle of the night . He knows it is his father as the only other people who had this private Dan Dan no. are Ivanko and Kuma , who both will never call on this line at this time unless their whole base is burning down which is not.
“ PuroPuroPuroPuro Brat you finally decided to pick up huh “ His father's voice came through the speakers.
“ Hello to you dad “ Dragon says voice neutral trying not to show how happy he is after hearing from his father after such a long time.
“ How are you doing ,brat ? “ his father asked.
“ Not a brat !” Dragon fired back
“ You will always be a brat in my eyes , i literally changed your diapers “ father laughed.
Maybe Dragon didn’t miss his father after all , yeah that was all nostalgic feeling nothing else.
“ I don't want to talk to you anymore, “ Dragon stated.
“ But I do wanna talk to you , brat . Listen, I have a favor to ask? “ his father's voice sounded serious , which rarely happens.
“ What is it ? “ Dragon is pretty sure this will be the first time his father is asking anything from him.
“ I had come into the situation where I had a baby to care for , who is in danger from the Marine or anyone who knows his parentage. I am not asking you to take care of him or anything, I just want you to claim him as yours.” His dad stated casually as if discussing the weather .

“ Dad, did you kidnap the baby ? “ Dragon asked because that is the only logical conclusion. Because nobody will ever look at his father and will say ‘ yeah I want that man to raise my kid ‘ . Just look at Dragon himself. He was raised by his father. He is currently the most wanted man in the world .Nobody is that big of an idiot !! right ?
“ WHY YOU BRAT!!!! DO I LOOK LIKE A KIDNAPPER TO YOU HAH . I was given this baby to make sure he survived. “ his father scoffed.
“ Are you sure that the baby's parents want him to survive? “ Dragon asked .
“ DRAGON “ his dad's voice came fuming through the speakers.
“ YES DAD “ Leader of the Revolutionary army or not, Dragon is still scared of his father's fist of love.
“ All that aside, listen as I said I want you to claim this baby as yours . Will you do it or not ? “ his father brought up the topic again .
“ Dad , do you really think it is a good idea to say that the baby is mine , he will be hunted by the Marine and that is not even the worst of what will happen , “ He replied back.
“ Better your son in the eyes of a Marine than his actual father. I know he will be hunted , but he will still be safer than being that man's son “ who is this man his dad keeps talking about , who is even more dangerous than himself.
The only person in the eyes of the World Government who is worse than Dragon in Pirate King, who has been dead for almost 2 years now.
Dragon can't think of anyone else who can be worse than him in the eyes of the World Governm- wait .

“ Dad you do not mean to say that , right . It is not possible . Right? Dad is the baby's father - “
“ Yes , the baby belongs to Rogers, “ his dad confirmed.
“ How is that even possible ? Rogers died 2 years ago , do not tell me now that Roger is somehow still alive because I was there at his execution .” Dragon can't believe that Rogers has a child.
“ No ,Rogers is dead , I am not going into details but all you need to know is that the baby is alive because his mother sacrificed everything, even her own life, to make sure her child lives , so I am asking again whether you claim the baby as yours or not.” Dragon is speechless.
He doesn't know what to think of this situation.
He knows claiming that the baby will bring trouble, he can be used as a weakness against the Revolutionary Army.
A weakness he can't afford.
But he also can't deny that being known as Dragon’s son is better than being known as Rogers' son. That baby did nothing wrong, being born is not a crime .
Dragon does not want to subject any child to go through that kind of hell.
Dragon doesn't believe he will ever have a child of his own , but if he somehow ever becomes a father he will never want his child to be punished for Dragon's crime.
Maybe this is impulsive. And Dragon doesn't make impulsive decisions. Most of the time . At least Dragon believes he is not as bad as his father in that department ,but then again nobody can rival Monkey D Garp when it comes to being impulsive.
“ Dad , fine, I claim that child as mine . “ Dragon promised.
“ Huh knew I can trust you with this!!! , looks like you are a father now hahahahahaha “ his dad replied sounding really happy.
“Thanks for the good wishes father, “ Dragon replied sarcastically. “ Can you at least tell me the name of my ‘ son’ “ Dragon asked .
“ Oh yes , His name is Ace . “ Dad informed him happily.
“ Monkey D Ace does have a good ring to it “ Dragon offered.
“ It does ,doesn't it , now I will talk to you later. I need to make arrangements for Ace's living . Bye “ his father didn't even wait for his reply and ended the call.
“ Well, it looks like I am a father now, “ Dragon thought before going back to sleep.
Monkey D Ace sounds much better than Gol D Ace anyways.
