Chapter Text
Ray gasped awake when he heard the loud 'BANG echo throughout the empty house. He shot up from the mattress to turn on the lamp on his bedside table, his other hand frantically swiping his curls out of his eyes. His head whips around the room once the light flooded in, his eyebrow raised in confusion. He felt the air in his chest get sucked out when his eyes scanned out the window, a big blob of something lays smoking in the stretch of his backyard.
"What-" Ray shot up from his bed to go squeeze in face against the glass of the window, squinting his eyes desperate to get a closer look. "Holy shit!" he gasped. "A meteorite!" Ray stumbles back from the window with haste, he bends down to pick up his glasses. Giving the clearer blurb one last squint he runs over to his closet throwing on a robe and stuffing his feet into his shoes, ignoring the scratchy sensation of it on his bare feet.
Ray barrels out of his bedroom making a dash for his backdoor. He crashes directly into the door before he tosses it open. He runs down the stairs of his porch swiping the smoke away from his face as he approaches the smoking hole in his yard. Ray stops only a few steps away from it, he hesitantly leans over the edge of it his eyes widening when he notices how not-meteorite shaped the object that was in front of him. "What the-" he breathes out his eyes scanning along the bent-out-of-shape metal of the disk in front of him, that cracks in the orb of glass bulging from it.
Ray's head snapped back when he heard the snap of a twig behind him, he gasped. A red haired person in a blue suit stood in front of him holding what looked like a gun, it was pointed directly at him.
"𓋴𓏏𓅂𓊪 𓄿𓅃𓄿𓇌!"
"What!" Ray turns around panicked, immediately throwing his hands in the air to show that he had nothing in them. "I'm sorry! Is this yours? I didn't touch it I promise." he attempts to take a step back only to be reminded of the gaping hole behind him, he stays put.
The red haired individuals raised their eyebrows in what seems to be confusion, they nudged the gun closer in Ray's direction. The side of their lips smirked when they saw Ray flinch away from it. They stalked closer to him, bringing the gun up to Ray's temple and tapping it there. Ray whimpered, squeezing his eyes shut waiting for something that didn't come. What did come where chapped lips slamming into his.
Ray's eyes bulged open in shock, his hand found their way to their hips, not quite pushing away… just holding them there as if to keep himself from floating away. He stared into their bright green eyes, the ones that were staring right back at him. It felt like fireworks were exploding in his brain, telling him that this was supposed to happen… He needed to let this happen, it was meant to.
Ray gasped away from the kiss when he felt a snake like tongue force its way into his mouth. The red haired… maybe not so human, person? backed away as soon as Ray pushed at them, they put their gun away in their belt-loop, looking down at their watch, they start to poke at it. "It seems that I've landed on earth." they hummed out.
"What!?" Ray squeaks, his shoulders tense when he felt the burn of the flush on his cheeks.
They smile over at Ray, tapping their watch in his direction. "Your DNA is telling me you are a human from earth, Is that not correct?"
"N-No… That is definitely correct."
They hum, satisfied. "My watch is working as intended then, Good!"
"Right…" The silence drags out as Ray watches the…. he doesn't even know what to call them… They continue to mess around with their watch, not paying mind to Ray. "Umm, I'm sorry… What is your name?"
They look up at Ray with a curious eyebrow raise. "What is a name?"
"Oh… Um, What is it that you go by?"
"Oh! my identification!?… Humans and their silly words. I go by 𓊃𓅂𓂋𓅱!" They say cheerfully with a small laugh.
"…I'm sorry, one more time."
"𓊃𓅂𓂋𓅱!" The silence drags out, Ray's mouth gapes open trying to wrap his brain around to what they had said. "I think it translates to 'ZERO in your English language." They inform Ray cheerfully.
"O-Okay… Zero I can work with that.. Well i'm Ray-"
"Yes! Ray Toro I see that on my watch!"
Ray cringes back slightly, goosebumps rise on his neck. "How much does that thing tell you?"
"Well, when I swap spit with another life form, I not only learn their language, I can even transfer the knowledge I learned from your DNA VIA wavelengths into my watch and learn even more about them!"
"What!?"
"My wonderful mother-ship provided me with it for my travels. They truly are so kind!"
"Dude! What?" Ray brought his hands up to his head, balling his fits in his curls, trying to wrap his brain around everything Zero has said. Not only were they an alien but apparently there is a mother-ship which means they are even more just like Zero.
"𓎢𓂋𓄿𓊪!" Zero cursed, reaching out they grabbed Ray's hand from his hair and cupped them in theirs. "Please do not tell anyone what i just told you! My mother-ship will already be displeased with me for crash-landing."
Ray stares at Zero, his eyebrows furrowed when he sees the worry on their face, he nods. "I won't tell anymore, I promise."
"Promise?-" Zero's question gets cut short with the sound of a siren cutting through the silence of the night. "Crap.." Ray mumbles to himself when he sees the flashing red and blue lights, he grabs Zero's wrist tugging at them lightly to follow him back to his house.
"W-Wait!" Zero calls out frantically looking back at their ship. "We can't leave my ship!"
"Zero! please-" Ray fights back against the desperate tugs of Zero,He also felt desperate to get them inside.
"No! I can't- My ship!" Zero pleads desperately.
"I'll protect your ship! Please just come inside!" Zero stops fighting against Ray; they let him drag them, keeping their eyes glued to their ship for as long as they could. Ray rushes them inside, cursing to himself as he closes and locks the door behind them. He drags Zero in the direction of his bedroom, once again closing the door behind them. The light of the bedroom finally lets Ray get a good look of Zero, he winches seeing the state that they are in.
"Zero- You're all bloody… Do you feel okay?"
Zero looks down at themselves seeming to only have noticed due to Ray pointing it out, They look back up at Ray with a shrug. "Yes, I feel pretty….okay."
"Why did you respond like that?"
"You use words in a peculiar way."
"What?-" Their conversation was once again cut short with a loud banging on the door. "Shit.." Ray mumbles looking back at his door before focusing back on Zero, he leads them to his bed helping them sit down gently on the edge. "Okay Zero, I need you to just stay in here while I go handle this." Ray says while running across the room to close the curtains in the room, he also slips his shoes back off.
"You will watch my ship?" Zero question turning back to watch Ray.
"I promised, didn't I?"
"I do not understand the word that you are using."
Ray pauses in his haste to look over at zero, one hand freezing on the door. "I will protect your ship, I will also explain that word, and any other word you don't understand… But first you just need to listen to me and stay in here, okay?" Zero scrunches their face in his direction, giving a small hesitant nod. Ray smiles. "Good." he says in silence after swirling around the room for a beat. "Ill be right back." Ray says to break the awkward silence between them, slipping out of the bedroom door.
Ray looks down at his clothes with a deep breath, nervously bringing his hands up to mess with his curls, trying to give himself the look of 'just waking up'. Another loud bang on his door echoes through his halls, causing him to flinch. "Open the door! your car is in the driveway we know you're here!" The booming voice of the man at his door yelled, Ray gulps.
