Work Text:

Hermione looked at the parchment outside of the Room of Requirement. She was puzzled as to why Luna wanted her to see her. She sighed as she checked the door and slipped in.

“Ah, there you are.” The blonde smiled broadly.

“Is something wrong?” Hermione gave her a concerned look.

“No, everything is perfect.” Luna stepped closer. “I'm glad that you are here, Hermione.” She lightly caressed her cheek. “Beautiful.”

Hermione gasped as she placed her hand on top of hers while searching her pale eyes. “Do you care about me?”

“Yes.” She replied solemnly. “Even when you would mock me.”

Hermione ducked her head in shame. “I’m sorry.” She felt a couple of fingers lifting her chin. She gasped at what appeared to be love reflecting in her eyes.

“Please, don’t apologise.” She shook her head. “I knew in my heart that it would take you a little longer to see me for me.”

“I’m still learning, Luna.”

“We should never want to be stagnant with our hearts.” She gave her a soft smile. “Would you give us a chance?” She tilted her head.

“I.” Hermione swallowed thickly. “I don’t know. I’ve never had any relations with females.”

“Ah. Would this help?” Luna murmured as she leaned forward to brush their lips together. Hermione panted as she grabbed her shirt, causing her eyes to widen.

“Yes, and let’s do it again.” Hermione pulled her into her arms and deepened the kiss. She wrapped her arms around Luna and cradled her head before they broke apart to breathe. “Fuck.”

“I do think that’s a little too soon.” Luna gibed, which earned a light smack on her chest. She threw back her head and laughed.

“Hush, you.” Hermione ran her hands down Luna’s back and pulled her closer by her arse cheeks. Luna grunted quietly while Hermione ran her hands back up her back and into her long blond hair. “Again?” She quirked her brow.

“Yes.” Luna captured her lips and massaged them as she wrapped her arms around Hermione’s waist and started to kiss her face. “I’m in love with you, Hermione Granger.”

Hermione’s heart melted at the declaration as she moved her hands to Luna’s face. She lightly caressed it as she gazed deeply into Luna’s eyes. “I think I can fall for you, my faerie. Just give me more time to fall for you completely.”

“I will give you all the time you need, my lioness.” She smiled serenely. “I would love for us to take our time with this because we are still rebuilding, not just ourselves but our community.”

Hermione nodded. “I’m glad that I came back this year to finish my schooling. I could have done what Harry and Ron did, but I always wanted to finish Hogwarts on my terms.”

“I was seriously hoping that I would see you again this year.” Luna took a deep breath. “I’m hoping for a year of no outward battles. I know we both have some inner battles…” She stepped back and took Hermione’s hand. “Couch, please.” A blue seat appeared as they sat down. “I want us to go slow and steady. Go to Hogsmeade together if possible.”

“Yes, please.” Hermione nodded. “I concur. I want the slowness, but not too slow. I’m glad that the boys didn’t come because they would have cramped our lives.” She sighed as she sat back before looking over. “You are serious, right?”

“Of course, I am.” Luna caressed her cheek. “I wouldn’t have invited you here if I weren’t serious about this.” She waved her hand between them. “I do want to apologise for my father’s behaviour.”

“No, he was scared for you…we all were.” Hermione shook her head. “Besides, the three of us saw your drawing on the ceiling; it’s beautiful.”

Luna blushed. “Thank you.”

“You are welcome.” She smiled up at her. “What now?”

“Do you want to talk or something else, or do you need to work on homework?” Luna started to ramble until Hermione placed her fingers on her lips.

“Sh. It will be fine.” Hermione breathed as she settled more into the couch. “Let’s talk some and maybe kiss some more?”

“Hm.” She lifted Hermione’s arm to slide into her. “I would love to get to know you some more.”

“Me, too.” Hermione lightly ran her hand along her arm. “Tell me, when is your birthday?”

Luna paused before she answered. “February 13th.”

Hermione gasped as she sat up, disrupting their positions. She stared at Luna. “That was three days ago.”

“Mm. Yes, it was.” She shrugged. “I didn’t want to appear needy.”

Hermione sighed as she cupped Luna’s face. “Let me rectify that.” She kissed her languidly before pulling her into her arms. “Let me give you some love, please.”

Luna’s pale eyes darkened a little as Hermione wrapped her arms around her and started kissing along her neck. Luna tilted her head to give her room while grabbing the back of Hermione’s shirt. “Please.”

Hermione shifted slightly before moving Luna into her lap. She grazed her earlobe with her teeth before whispering, “Only if you want to. No pressure.”

Luna leaned back to see Hermione’s eyes full of desire. “For me?”

“Yes, I just realised what I was missing ever since our time at Shell Cottage.” She smirked. “It was you. It was you that I was missing beseechingly.”

Luna’s body melted at the words. She leaned in for another kiss, which Hermione readily gave her. They held each other tightly as they continued to make out on the couch. They gasped for air when they broke apart.

“Can we go slow?” Luna asked.

“Of course.” Hermione squeezed her hand. “I truly want to get to know you, my moon.”

“Brilliant.” Her stomach growled. “Do you want to get something to eat in the great hall or even the kitchens?”

“Do you want to go public?”

“Do you?” She tilted her head. “I could keep it quiet  if you’re worried about the public.”

Hermione saw the look of uncertainty. “How about this?” She patted her hand. “We keep it quiet for now, and we go public when it’s time for the next Hogsmeade visit.”

“Are you sure?” Luna searched her eyes.

“Yes, plus this would give us a little time to set our boundaries for this relationship.” Hermione scuttled closer as she cupped her face. “Luna Lovegood, will you be my date for the next Hogsmeade visit?”

“Yes, please.” Luna closed the distance and bussed her lips. “I can’t wait to see where this relationship goes.” Her stomach growled again. “But we need to feed my stomach.”

“Tempus.” The clock showed four. “Too early for dinner. Let’s go to the kitchen and see if they have a snack for us.” Hermione rose and pulled Luna up. She gave her one more big kiss before interlacing their fingers. “Shall we?”

“Yes, please.” Luna bounced in joy.

“Maybe they will have some cake for you so we can properly celebrate it.” Hermione pulled her out of the room, and they started to walk down to the Kitchen door. Hermione tickled the pear and bowed to let her in first. “Hello, Winky.”

“Miss Hermione.” She bowed to her. “What can I help you with?”

“We need a bit of a birthday cake for Miss Luna.” She nodded to the blonde.

“Consider it done. Tea?” She inquired.

“Yes, please.” They both chimed and giggled as they sat down at a small table off to the side. Winky placed a small vanilla cake with chocolate icing between them and lit a couple of candles too. “Thank you, Winky.”

“You are most welcome.” She bowed after she placed their tea down.

“Make a wish, my moon.” Hermione smiled at her.

Luna’s eyes twinkled in the candlelight as she blew them out. “What do I do if it already came true?”

Hermione’s heart melted. “Then we make another wish in the future to keep granting them as well.” She brought her hand up and kissed it. “Let’s eat!”

“Yes!” Luna happily picked up her fork, took a bite of the cake and tasted it. “This is yummy.”

“Yes, it is.” Hermione was looking at her and not at the cake, causing her to blush.

“Is there anything else, Miss?” Winky interrupted their stares.

“Luna?”

“No, I’m good now.” She lightly patted her stomach. “Thank you, Winky.”

“Yes, thank you, Winky.” Hermione smiled down at the house elf. “Did I tell you that Dobby was buried at Shell Cottage?”

“No, Miss Hermione.” She shook her head.

“I’m sure that Bill or Fleur would have no problem with you visiting him. I know Harry does.” Hermione explained. “I’ll drop a note for them, so they won’t be surprised to see you.”

“Thank you, Miss.” Winky bobbed her head as she cleared the table. “Have a great day.”

“You, too.” Hermione and Luna cried out as they left the kitchen. They wandered up to their shared dormitories with the others. They kissed once more before entering the common room.

“Do you want to study?”

“Sure, let me grab my books, and I’ll meet you here?” Luna pointed to the table by the window.

“Brilliant.” Hermione beamed as she ran to get her own bag. They spent the rest of the evening working on their studies, much to everyone else’s surprise.
