Chapter Text
The first time Finn saw the tear in the sky he thought he was just hallucinating, but farmworld's sky was abnormal most days and down right dangerous on others with constant storms of brutal wind and bone chilling cold. But this was different. This wasn't lightning or a cloud, it was a tear, like a gash in the sky.
“Great” finn muttered “another problem”
The seam widened just enough for someone to fall through.
It was a boy.
He couldn't have been older than twelve or thirteen. Brown hair. Gold sclera. Slit pupils. He wore a long black priest's coat which stood out of place in the frozen wasteland around them.
The boy glanced around, unimpressed, “Huh, this isn't gravity falls” he stated mildly.
As the boy slowly turned around to survey his surroundings he noticed Finn, standing around 10 feet or so away in a defensive stance.
“Who are you?” he demanded.
“Names Bill cipher but you can just call me Bipper, the names kinda grown on me”
The name meant nothing to Finn.
The sky tore again.
A second figure dropped through, this one landing hard enough to crack ice. He groaned before pushing himself upright.
He was older looking, though not by much. He had a Dark blue cape, brown hair, antlers, red-blue-and yellow eyes, and a …… gnome hat?
“Ew you look like Jeff” Bipper muttered squinting at the new figure.
“What?” the newcomer snapped confused and slightly irritated
“Whats your name?” finn asked
“..Wirt”
“Thats a stupid ass name” Bipper said immediately
Wirt observed Bipper, gaze lingering on his eyes.
“You’re not normal” he said flatly
“That's the nicest thing anyone's said to me all week,” Bipper said as he wiped away an imaginary tear.
“Where even are we?” Wirt asked, exhaustion creeping into his voice.
“Farm world,” Finn replied. “and its not safe”
“Define ‘not safe,’” Bipper asked “like ‘oh no we might get a papercut’ not safe or like ‘we'll die horribly’ not safe?”
A distant howl answered him.
The three stood still for a second
“Come on, you guys can come with me for now.” Finn said reluctantly
“Oooh,” Bipper sing-songed, falling in step behind him. “Team up episode.”
Wirt stayed back for a second, staring as the tear in the sky repaired itself before he sighed and followed.
They didn't trust each other, not at first.
Finn slept with one eye open.
Wirt kept his distance, speaking only when necessary.
Bipper filled the silence.
He talked constantly. Commenting on everything. Critiqued Finn's survival skills. Asked Wirt disturbingly specific questions about the forest he’d come from. Sometimes he summoned azure flames just to see how they'd react.
But slowly, something shifted.
Finn showed them where to find edible supplies buried under frost in abandoned stores.
Wirt quietly repaired a tear in Finn's cloak one night without mentioning it.
Bipper… stopped pushing quite so hard.
He still mocked. Still grinned. Still let his eyes glow a little too bright in the dark. But the flames stopped appearing without warning.
The teasing softened.. barely.
But it was enough.
Then one day, the sky tore again.
The sound made Finn’s heart stop.
The three looked up.
Finn looked nervous, Wirt looked wary, and Bipper wore an unnaturally wide smile on his face.
“You guys wanna get out of here?” Bipper grinned
