Work Text:

Giggles echoed through the studio as Dana kissed you gently, your body pressed gently into the bar. Her hands held your hips softly as she rubbed your sides. “D– I just got my pointe shoes on!” You giggle, making her pull back with a smile.

“I’ve been missing you!”

“It’s been two days!” You laugh, brushing a strand of blonde hair from her eyes.

“Two days too long.” She smiles, kissing you again. It’d been almost four months since you’d met Dana, and you’d made her feel young again (her words, not yours). “When do you find out your next show?”

“Swan Lake is on for three more weeks–”

“Already have my ticket bought for closing night.”

“Dana! I can cover your tickets!” You whine, drawing her in close again.

“Not front row.”

“Dana! Those tickets are like two hundred bucks, are you serious?”

“For you? Always.” You roll your eyes again.

“I’m actively training for auditions. Two days after closing.”

“Know the show yet?” You shake your head and move to stretch on the bar as Dana moves to her bag.

“How’d you get off so early today?”

“Told Robby you’d probably bring bagels within the week.” You snort and softly shake your head.

“Tomorrow.” You watch in the mirror as she digs a few things out of her bag. “Gonna change out of your scrubs?” She meets your eyes and nods softly. “Remember where the locker room is?”

“Do I?” She wiggles her brows, making you grin, thinking back to a few days ago after practice.

As Dana steps back into space, you were rehearsing your audition song, watching your movement in the mirror, not paying mind to Dana for the moment. The music concludes, and she wolf whistles loudly, making heat creep across your cheek with a shy smile. You turn to face her, tilting your head as you realize she has a pair of pointe shoes and a leotard on. “D?”

“Feel like dancing?” You smile, walking over and kissing her gently.

“Can I take your clip out?”

“My hair is probably a mess.”

“Since when has that mattered?” You whisper tenderly, pulling the clip out and gently running your fingers through her hair. “Where did you find them?”

“That box I never unpacked after leaving Benji.” You nod gently.

“Have a song in mind?” You whisper, trying to hide your wide smile at the idea of dancing with Dana.

“I still remember the Love Duet. And I feel like I’ve watched you enough to figure it out.” She smiles, gently taking your hands.

“Really?” You whisper with soft awe, making her kiss your temple.

“Give me time to stretch?” You nod, letting her walk over to the bar. You practice a few turns and jumps as you wait, Dana watching you affectionately. “I never thought I would dance again. But here I am. Beautiful young girlfriend… soon to be prima ballerina–”

“Dana…”

“It’s announced closing night, yeah?” You nod. “Soon to be prima ballerina… loving, kind, wonderful… And suddenly I have a reason to dance for the first time in… gosh, almost thirty-ish years, I think.” You grin, watching her as she strides over to you.

“You ready?” She nods, smile growing as you start the music. The dance starts slowly, ebbing between the two of you. You move fluidly together, soft touches and embraces as the music swells gently. The steps were off, interrupted between your soft kisses and caresses, lovesick smiles on both of your faces. The dance ends with another echo of giggling, Dana happier than she had been in months.

“You haven’t smoked in weeks, and you came in smiling. Are you sure you’re my charge nurse?” Dana snorts, rolling her eyes at Robby’s comment.

“Would you rather have me come in fuming?”

“I have had that. This is much better.”

“He’s right.” Abbot chirps from his station. “What’s gotten into you?” His brows wiggle, knowing the answer.

“My wonderful girlfriend.” She smiles, glancing at the picture she had of the two of you beside her desk.

“Go figure. When’s she stopping by?”

“She’s got rehearsal at eight thirty, so probably anytime now. Promised bagels.”

“She’s an angel. Trinity smiles, walking up to the counter.

“You don’t know the half of it.” Dana grins, laying her jacket over the back of her chair.

“Anybody up for some bagels?” Your voice rings out, making most heads snap in your direction. You set the bags down in the breakroom before moving to Dana with a smile. “Good morning…” Her hands immediately move to rub your sides beneath your jacket.

“Morning, you…” She gives you a soft kiss.

“Can I stay with you tonight?” You ask gently, toying wit he rstethescope.

“Like you even have to ask. The words make you smile, kissing her lightly.

“That’s a lot of PDA for my hospital.” Robby smiles, making you give him a gentle side hug.

“Careful. One wrong move and I’m bringing just enough food for anyone but you. He snorts, shaking his head. You watch Princess pull Dana away as she blows you a kiss, and you turn back to Robby.

“You really are one of the best things that’s ever happened to her, and I thank you for that.”

“She’s the best part of my life.” You smile, watching her work with a patient.

“We’ll see you closing night.” He grins, making your eyes widen before you smile.

“Thank you, Robby.”

“Always. And bring donuts next time!” You laugh as you put a can of Dana’s favorite drink on her desk before leaving through the ambulance bay.
