Chapter Text

Charlie couldn't stop staring. It was impossible. Not with Cameron across the cave with his big green eyes, turned almost brown in the firelight of the cave. Charlie often gets lost in those eyes, and spends what feels like hours staring ridiculously at the boy with red hair.

"Nuwanda! your turn to read!" hisses Neil from next to Charlie, snapping him out of his trance-like state. He stands up, almost bumping his head on the roof of the cave.

"O-kay, right here it is, poets! ", Charlie says with confidence, fumbling with the piece of paper in his pocket. he struggles for a minute as everyone looks at him. He finds the paper, unfolds it with strange caution, which is much unlike him. Charlie begins to read slowly.

Charlie sat back down and zoned out again listening to the other poets. The poem he wrote was exactly how he felt. He would do anything to kiss Cameron, for him to reciprocate those feelings that had built up inside of Charlie for so long.

And when the early hours of the morning crept up on the poets, they all ran back in fits of giggles back to their dorms, shoving and grabbing each other along the way. Charlie's heart did a little jump when Cameron grabbed him by the arm and pulled him along. They reached their dorm and both painted heavily into the silence. Neither of them said a word but both changed back into their night clothes and promptly fell asleep.
