Grease the Gears

Summary:

The rookie driver, Rez, joins a renowned group of racers to compete in the Beach Buggy League. Dodging palm trees, cutthroat racers and insane obstacles. Will he also have to dodge his heart?

IDK where I'm going with this. It came to me one day, and the fandom is so dead I just wanted to scream into the void. This is probs gonna be a WIP for a long, long time, but the ideas are flowing.

Notes:

Beach Buggy Racing is a 3D racing game developed and published by Vector Unit. Initially released for Android and iOS on 16 September, 2014, for Microsoft Windows on 3 November, 2014, then for Xbox on 29 May, 2015, and for Nintendo Switch on 14 September, 2017 (Wiki Fandom). It was a pillar of my childhood gaming experience, and as said in the summary, the fandom is super dead, so I highly doubt this will go anywhere, but I am determined to create something for this niche little game.

DISCLAIMER:
So there is very very little canon for this game, so I'll basically be making it up as I go and might not stick to the canonical mannerisms of the characters.

Here's a link to the Spotify album if you really wanted to listen to the OST for some reason (I would recommend it, its actually pretty good. I love it. But I'm also a bit biased.)

Chapter 1: Rez

Chapter Text

The sleepy town of Shark Harbour was quiet, as it always was. The subtle crashing of waves against the harbour walls mingled with the ever-present cries of the now-awakening seagulls. Fishing boats were returning from their early morning fishing trips, back with their modest hauls. Riding the mild waves into the bay, as if the sea itself was also just waking up. A sheen of salty morning dew resting on every surface. The sea breeze crept its way through the silent streets. Breathing life back into the inhabitants of the seaside town. And rousing them to another new day. The sun rose on the opposite side of the harbour. Spilling its rays over the mountains and into the bay of the small island. Mornings in Shark Harbour were rarely different from the previous. The town thrived on its lazy routine and its comfortable repetition. No one had to be anywhere but there. Its people lived in the moment. Enjoying life's tedium and relishing the pride of their tasks.
