He Saved Us All

Summary:

Alternative AU because I personally don't think the Prototype is evil. I love the original story of Poppy Playtime and this is just my take on it. The Player does not exist here. 1006 has a different design here, will be mentioned throughout the story and especially as to why he looks the way he does.

1006 manages to save Theodore before he got turned into CatNap by initiating The Hour Of Joy. He is left with the remaining orphans in the now broken and abandoned factory. After 4 years of keeping the children alive there is finally hope for them to escape and find their true better place. But what about the other toys? What about Poppy herself? What about the Prototype's secret? And will he be able to protect the orphans? Read to find out!

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

They have stripped him of any objects after that one incident. He was absently flexing his claws over and over in the same repetitive motion. They said he developed 'stereotypical behaviour' because of the lack of entertainment. Nonsense, but let them believe he was going crazy. There was a loud bang against the door of his cell. "Will you stop that?! I've got to watch you for 5 more hours and it's annoying me!" Complain. Complain is all they ever do. He placed one of his claw on the metal wall and digged in. Pulling his claw across the wall left a painful screeching sound. The person who was supervising him groaned. If he could smirk he would do so in that very moment. He repeated the same movement with his other claw. "That's it 1006. I'm done with this! Restrain." As soon as his third most hated word left the mouth of this human he heard the automatic restraint system being activated. He fought it, he always did but never succeeded. His claws were forced on the ground. Heavy and hurtful metal chains now around his wrists, digging into his body, making him bleed. More chains were wrapped around his body, tearing at wires, snapping some in the process. He was left fully motionless. "You could have avoided this but suit yourself." Was all he heard before the footsteps slowly faded away towards the supervision room. The supervision room was soundproof so he couldn't hear what was going on in there. The experiment let out a huff. Worth it, he thought. He would never listen to these humans, never give them anything.

Hours passed, he was still in chains. He was still bleeding. He was in pain, he always was. When his cell door opened a very familiar human entered. Leith Pierre. The man sighed and shook his head. "That was the third time this week. You're really good at making us mad. I wonder, is this profitable for you in any way? Being strapped down like the primitive animal you are? I would assume that being in this uncomfortable position is not ideal. Anyway, since you seem so interested in annoying my supervisors these things will stay on for hmmm a week? Two? A month? What do you think? The element of surprise is exciting, isn't it? Perhaps I should tighten your restrains further." Pierre gestured to a camera. In return the spikes attached to the chains digged deeper into his flesh but he didn't make a sound. He was used to this torture.

Torture, the second most hated word on his list. He was tortured for these humans' pleasure. They enjoyed watching him bleed. "Now, since I'm here anyway how about we start with our session?" Session, his MOST hated word. He gave no reaction. He will never give in. Will never obey. The next hours would be filled with nothing but pain. Pierre intentionally hurt him more than necessary. Necessary.. This wasn't necessary at all. However, the man found excitement in 1006's involuntary flinches and growls whenever he hit a nerve or very sensitive spot. It didn't matter. Experiment 1006, The Prototype will find a way to escape.

Theodore Grambell. The boy was 7 years old. Yet here he was standing in front of his cell door. The kid must have grabbed something he could stand on so he could look through the tiny window of the door. How he got here was beyond The Prototype's understanding. His cell was under special security measures. The boy wasn't scared like the others. Instead he waved at him and introduced himself. 1006 didn't reply to him. For once the very intelligent being couldn't understand. "It's okay." Said the child. "Some other toys don't speak much either. It's nice to meet you anyway. I.. I'm not supposed to be here but something happened and the lady with the white coat left. So I went on an adventure! That's how I found you." Oh he knew what the lady in the white coat wanted from Theodore. She was sending him to become another abomination like himself. What surprised him was how nice the kid was. All the children that passed by and managed to get a glimpse of him were terrified by the sight. However, this little boy was smiling at him like he wasn't a scary monster with sharp claws that could tear through flesh and bones.

The Prototype was in pain. Today's session has been one the worst he had in a quite a long time. Despite his limbs screaming at him not to get up, he forced himself to stand. Blood dripping down his body. The restraints had been wrapped so tight around his wrists that he could barely feel them now. As he got up and stood on his 'full' height the boy gasped. "Wow! You look so cool!" 1006 stopped dead in his tracks. Nobody EVER said something like that. Curiosity got the best of him and he approached his cell door. It was Sunday. On Sundays he was only watched by a human present until noon then the scientists activated a motion sensor system. At least that's what he believed. If he tried anything harsh the restraints would shoot out. He was also still being watched by cameras and he was certain that there was a human in a security room, watching these cameras.

There he stood, with barely any strength. He titled his head a little. Theodore seemingly had stars in his eyes. The eyes of an innocent child. "H-Hi! Your cell says Experiment 1006- The Prototype. What is that supposed to mean?" So.. So utterly innocent. "Theodore." said 1006 in his new 'real voice'. He rarely spoke at all but maybe he could warn the boy. Theodore gasped at the sound of his voice and started to tremble in fear. The Prototype forgot how truly scary his own voice sounded. The child stepped back a bit, almost falling off whatever he was standing on.

"Theo? There you are my darling!" 1006 heard the all too familiar sound of Stella. In order not to raise any suspicion the Prototype quickly lied down and pretended to be asleep. "I was so worried. You know you can't just run off."

"I'm sorry Stella. I was just curious."

"No, no I'm sorry my dear. I shouldn't have left you so suddenly. Why.. Why are you looking so scared?"

"I uh.. I saw this sleeping robot and it scared me." Now that got 1006's interest. This boy, this 7 year old boy just lied to her, for his sake. Probably thinking that if he said the truth they would blame the experiment. The Prototype was no fool. Stella was a horrible woman. Gaining the children's trust just to betray them. Give them the illusion to feel safe. All lies. As soon as a child stepped foot in here, they were dead. "Yes.. It is just a robot Theo. Come on. Let's get you back to Home Sweet Home hm?" That was surprising. Seems like little Theo got lucky, for now..
