Tug of war

Summary:

He peaked through his spiky pink strands of hair, now watching the frowning boy in all his stoic little persona, staring off into Tokyo's long tail of buildings stretching as far as the eye can see. His gaze is aloof, as if he's trying to tell people to get away from him by his stance alone. He almost wants to poke the bear. Just to have him snap back a single-word retort. But before that, Yuji is eager for something else.

Work Text:

Yuji Itadori likes the sun especially in the morning when it reluctantly rises to announce the beginning of a new day. So, no, he certainly didn't mind sitting down on the same bench as Fushiguro after a morning training session that left his temples pulsing slightly underneath the strain of today's round. Him and Fushiguro had dashed at each other today using cursed energy control as the aim to get more powerful. While they don't train together that often, this time Yuji wanted to see how reactive was the movement focus from his opponent.

Not only that, but Yuji almost messed up a curse mid battle when Fushiguro prowled forward with a new trick. Probably self-taught, but having failed to dodge that one costed Yuji his defeat. The sleek black hair boy had smirked in his face, a thinly curved line at the edges of his lips. Kissable lips, If Yuji would dare to add.

But Yuji can't say that to his face and neither can he do something about it. He had stared at the other's face, panting deriberately from the earlier effort, with a glint in his eye that screamed nothing else than ''I'll get you for that". But Fushiguro just tossed him a water bottle and beckoned lowly; ”Bench."

Yuji caught it mid air and took an experimental sip. It tasted warm, like plastic and regret bent in the same recipient. If he was secretly wondering why Fushiguro had a water bottle with him, that's on Yuji.

Back in the present, Yuji is no longer panting, but the red hoodie underneath his uniform is damp with sweat. Tentatively, he steals a glance at the winner of the duel.

He's staring at nothing, face pulled into a frown. Classical move. Except he's just avoiding Yuji's eyes completely.

"Fast moves," Yuji complimented idly, the water sloshing in the half-done bottle, now slightly crumpled at the edges from his tightening grip.

Megumi gives a hum in acknowledgement, and for a while that's what Yuji settles for. Keyword: for a while.

Slowly, he scoots closer, bit by bit until his thighs almost touch Fushiguro's. He's almost giddy about it. His counterpart still gave no reaction to his barely-hidden shenanigans, he does seem annoyed, but not enough to snap a smart retort at Yuji.

Perfect, that's exactly how Yuji wants him. Advancing even closer, he rests back his tense shoulders against the bench, takes a deep breath in, and tilts his head.

"Teach me that trick sometime soon, yeah Megumi?" The casual name slipped. He flashed his pearly whites, eyes crinkling with the sheer happiness that creeps up when he's around said frowning boy.

"I'll consider." Megumi grunts, still not looking at Yuji directly, just off into space as if his train of thought couldn't wait for Yuji's.

"Please?" Yuji huffed a breath of exasperation, leaning forward until the sleeves of their uniforms brushed against one another, radiating the heat of skin. "You looked so cool doing that! Almost had me in a deadlock."

He's blinking real slow, like a cat who can't get enough of their partner. Except they're not cats, just two 15 year olds with too much on their hands to deal with, and a lot set of curses due to learn.

"Yeah." Megumi replies rather dryly, his striking blue eyes trailing after a bird not too far up in the sky above. The distant bustling of Tokyo Jujutsu High anchors them into another set of quiet, this time, alive with something electric.

Yuji's breath hitches as he watches Megumi's eyes flicker upward. He wants those eyes on him, not on some random bird. He grunts, a half-discerning noise of his frustration, and his elbows now dig into Megumi's pants, as he half-crawls into his lap.

He heard a stilling in his breath, a pause too long where it shouldn't have been. Bingo.

Yuji crawls until he's perched upon Megumi's lap, spiky hair poking the other's cheek. "Look at me please, Megumi?" His tone is low, eyes searching.

Megumi does look at him this time. Slowly, as if he's afraid this moment might dissipate before it even gets it's chance to burn with something they don't dare to name.

"You've done well today, you know that right?" Yuji hums, a low timbre in the back of his throat as his hands come to cup Megumi's face, sharp edges and all.

The frown transforms into a sneer, but Yuji can tell it's undertoned with nervousity. "You've said it twice already. Go glaze someone else." His fingers itched to pull at Yuji's uniform, closer.

It's Yuji's turn to smirk. He takes a quick swipe of the area— no teachers around, second grade students in the back, far. The closest threat would be Chousou, but Yuji will take a gamble for this one.

His hands drop from Megumi's face as he inverses their positions quickly, trapping the boy's legs against his hips, chin jabbed forward to amplify his playful grin. Megumi gives him the satisfaction of a barely-hidden reaction once he realises how they're entangled.

Yuji can feel the heat between them.

He traces a stray strand of sleek-dark hair behind Megumi's ear, which refuses to stay pinned. Stubborn. Just like it's possessor.

"Keep moving like that and see what new tricks I'll do with my hands." Yuji whispers, filthy in a way nobody would believe if they even heard rumors about them. Megumi freezes up against him, then shivers, the common tell he's getting aroused.

"Yuji." Megumi whispers back, casual name drop and all; blue eyes narrowing at light brown eyes. Yuji merely adjusts his grip on him and traces a swirly pattern against his hip bone.

"You heard me." Yuji grunts. "I'll do more than touch next time, Megumi." He pulls his hair back with a rough shove and kisses his forehead one, two, three times— maybe four until he's sure he won't get addicted to the feeling. Perhaps.

Megumi arches against him, because of course he does- and Yuji has to resist the urge to kiss him dumb there on the bench.

Chousou's close though, he can hear the distant shuffle of not so subtle steps, approaching. Always bursting their bubble.

But that's okay. Yuji is patient.

He settles Megumi off his lap and beside him, doing quiet gestures with his hands he hoped the boy would understand.

Temporarily missing the heat of Yuji's lips, Megumi turns on time to see Chousou marching over, gaze darting between the two knowingly. No words are exchanged about it though, just a quick check-in regarding training.

And maybe, next training session he can train Megumi of who plays with who.
