Work Text:
It was evening, iTrappeds birthday. He had waited the whole day to see if anyone would remember.
No one did, not a single soul. Almost like he was a friendless child again, left alone on his birthday because everyone found him too annoying to bother coming.
He had told himself it was fine, it's nothing much, it's just a day. They probably just forgot. He had laughed it off with ease. Yet, it hurt. It hurt knowing no one, not his sister, not his friends, not even Ellernate, remembered this one day iTrapped wanted to be chosen.
Earlier that day he had planned to get a pretty, pink cake for himself so he didn't have to depend on anyone to show up, while still secretly hoping, deep down, that someone would.
Now he was left alone with the realization that maybe no one cared enough, and the chocolate started to taste bitter on his tongue. The frosting was too sweet, making him nauseous; he decided to leave the cake alone.
Setting down his fork, he only collapsed onto his arms on the table, feeling a heavy, dull pressure in his chest. 'It's fine. It literally is fine. People forget. I forget birthdays all the time.'
He even laughed earlier, freaking people around him out as to why he was laughing like he'd go crazy otherwise. But now, alone, laughing didn't help.
iTrapped checked his phone for any messages—again. 'Of course he forgot,' iTrapped thought a little too quickly. 'He's busy. He's quiet. He probably didn't even think—'
Suddenly the doorbell rang, and even though it was pouring outside, like the weather wanted to spoil iTrappeds mood even more, someone was at the door.
He stopped for a second, surprised, his breathing quickening in excitement as he walked to the door, hoping.
Opening the door, he saw LonelyTree, a little wet from the rain yet happy, holding a clumsily wrapped gift. The brown-haired boy didn't hesitate, immediately jumping to bring iTrapped into a tight, grounding hug that, despite how cold LonelyTree was, made iTrapped feel warm."Isaac! I'm so sorry we came later than expected! The weather slowed us down a ton TwT!"
He shook iTrappeds by the shoulders gently, attempting to catch his breath; it was clear he had run here. iTrapped smiled gladly at LonelyTree, ruffling his hair gently with an 'it's okay' before looking back at the doorway, realizing Ellernate was also here.
Standing on his porch with an umbrella, patiently waiting to be let in. iTrapped wanted to laugh at the sight of how he was composedly standing outside, not daring to come in, waiting for permission.
iTrapped came closer to him, joyful that he came. Of course he did. Ellernate was never the type to forget stuff that easily. Ellernates closed the soaked umbrella carefully, looking back at iTrappeds standing in the doorway; he smiled
"Hi." He said with the calmness only Ellernate could have. "Happy birthday."
"You remembered…" iTrapped mumbled, feeling as though he was truly seen and appreciated, his cheeks slightly flushed.
Of course. I wouldn't forgive myself if I ever forgot."Oh lord, iTrapped thought he would melt away then and there.
Lightly grabbing Ellernates wrist, feeling as though he was glowing, he demanded for him to come in the house.
He can't let his guests stand out in the cold after all! What kind of host would he be?
"You guys didn't have to!" iTrapped beamed, taking care of LonelyTree's and Ellernates soaked coats.
"Of course we had to! You're our friend!" LonelyTree butted in, not letting iTrapped deflate the importance of his birthday. It was his special day after all, and it should be celebrated happily.
"Yeah, today's about you, Trap. Whatever you need." Ellernate nodded lightly. iTrapped, feeling the emotions in the air, started sobbing. He was so grateful; his chest tingled, and his stomach fluttered as tears settled at the corner of his eyes.He pulled them into a hug. "You guys—! I love you! You did not have to!!"
