Work Text:
If things were different, we wouldn’t be here right now.
My sword raised at you, your large green eyes stare through me as you shakily raise yours.
If things were different, I wouldn’t think of you every time I find string in my kingdom.
I would scold you if I caught you but In reality it made me forget about this war for a split second
If things were different, I wouldn’t see your smile in the cornflowers that shower me as I complete an arena match.
But I see you in the dandelions that bloom in the grass, the same shade of yellow that matches the sun you adore and your obnoxiously large feather.
If things were different, you would be fighting with me instead of against me.
Being honest I wouldn’t want you to fight at all.
If things were different, I wouldn’t find myself breaking down internally as I lower my sword and let you run free
Because maybe I could of allowed myself to create a deeper bond with you, break down my own walls I put up since your charm seems to work on anyone.
If things were different, you would be here with me right now, showing me your flowers, placing string all over my sleeping chambers, smiling like the sun.
But red never looked nice with blue, the colours clash.
