Their love story started like most do. At first they were just friends. After all, Lizzie had married her husband for the second time yet the first in this world, so even if Pearl had been secretly growing feelings for the goddess. She had no chance. Thankfully Pearl had Gem to listen to her woes and comfort her with a few kind words and a kiss. Lizzie on the other hand simply wasn't sure how to propose either an open relationship or just how to tell Joel that she wanted to invite Pearl and Gem- if she wished into their happy marriage. These thoughts persisted until Last Life when they both joined the games for the first time.
Each of the two got to see a whole new side of each other. Sides that were bloody, violent, cruel and malicious. That thirsted for blood and chaos. Alongside new forms. Lizzie who formerly was a towering axolotl hybrid was now a more average height fae- or fairy as Lizzie called herself. A trick Pearl was sure. She was forced to study mythos during her time with the Watchers and if they taught her anything it was to never trust a fae that claims itself to be a fairy. They always have tricks up their sleeves. Pearl had now shed her more human look and adopted one of her many forms- a moth. Although not truly by her own choice as Lizzies seemed to be. Her moth form was what she was during EVO and truthfully that was her only hint that Watchers were behind these games.
Lizzie found Pearl's new form delightful. Comparing wing sizes and admiring the beautiful patterns. Pearl found interest in how Lizzie's eyes seemed to shine with mischief even more. The way her canines poked out when she smiled and shimmered when the light hit them. Though Pearl did feel some sense of envy when it was Cleo who got the closest to Lizzie during the first bit of the games. How the fairy forts love for each other was visible from the flowers that would sprout around thanks to Lizzie. The worst part was how Pearl could smell her crush on Cleo AND REN of all people.
Now let's not say Lizzie was blind. Even if her sight as a fae was lesser than her sight as an axolotl. The irritated flicks of Pearl wings and antennae. The way her nose would scrunch up whenever Cleo and Ren were around. It was highly entertaining for the goddess. Which was why she left her scent on the two as often as she could. Thankfully Cleo was less read up on the subject of scenting but Ren was a whole other challenge. Always vying for more after- which was why she called for Martyn so much- who usually brought along Mumbo after the two got together. Not like Lizzie cared much. As long as her dog was satiated and whoever came along with Martyn left with Martyn.
When the betrayal happened Pearl felt an odd sense of happiness. Cleo left the fairy fort and seemed to have a disdain for Lizzie now. While Lizzie seemed to fear the zombie. It was an odd feeling but Pearl ignored the tinge of what she could only assume was guilt and instead with the help of Scott got Cleo to join them. Unfortunately for Pearl that made her and Lizzie enemies by association. So for the rest of Last Life that is what they remained.
The next time they got to see each other was when the hermits went to the world of Empires. Pearl was excited to go back there. It had been a few thousand years since she was last Santa Perla after all. She wondered how much it changed over the years and what her fellow emperors were doing this time around. Lizzie had slowly been growing her empire and had been making alliances. Joel had ascended to godhood and with that grew some balls and asked Lizzie if him and Sausage could be a couple. She of course agreed and became 'Auntie Lizzie' to one adorable little Hermes.
The pink haired cat first saw that the hermits had joined when she was in Critter City, doing some utmost important tasks, when she saw the message that a load of people joined. She was then soon jumpscared by one Fwhip of Gobland and Impulse from Hermitcraft. Which was how she found out who else had come through the rift. Most were people she had met and the rest she had heard of through Grian or Mumbo. The most important in her eyes though was Pearl. They were finally in a world where there was no fighting or unnecessary violence- well not yet at least. Grian had joined the server now so there probably would be now. Regardless they'd be able to talk and since Joel asked to include Sausage, Lizzie was sure he wouldn't mind if Pearl and Gem joined too- not that it was guaranteed but a girl can hope.
A meeting was arranged. Lizzie invited Pearl to lunch at one of the cafés in Critter City. In all honesty it was a date disguised as a meeting. They spoke about what they had been up to in their respective servers so far. Who was the most annoying for them so far. Lizzie told Pearl about her adventures with Hermes and in turn Pearl told her about being a mailman- mailwoman? It was nice to catch up, they both thought. Without worrying about someone about to jump out and attack or an admin kicking them off the server.
As the hermits time on Empires grew and chaos erupted. Lizzie and Pearl grew closer. With Gem on the server as well the two thought it may be a good idea to mention their budding romance to her and ask if she was okay with it. Turned out she was so the trio went to Joel and Sausage who thought that if they were okay with it the two boys certainly didn't mind.
That's how the story ends for now. With Lizzie and Pearl being together. Alongside the other three and maybe even more in the future?
