Work Text:
Miki slowly opened the door. In the room, Yuki was laying down on the couch.
Yuki looked over to Miki as she walked in and closed the door behind her.
“Megu-nee?” Yuki’s eyes were half opened as she spoke much softer than Miki had ever heard before. Hearing that name again made Miki’s heart skip a beat. Yuki looked absolutely miserable, and from what she had heard, Megu-nee had been the one who would be there for her. Unfortunately, she wasn't there now.
Kurumi and Yuuri had gone to try and find Yuki some medicine, which only left Miki to actually watch her. Despite being there for a few days, she still felt like an absolute stranger. It wasn't that they weren't inviting. It was just that so much felt wrong.
“No,” Miki shook her head despite the fact she knew Yuki wasn't seeing clearly, “it's me, Miki.”
“Mii-kun?” Yuki’s tone shifted and she opened her eyes a bit more.
“Please stop calling me that…but yes.” Now wasn't the time to argue.
Miki walked over to Yuki as she rang out a wet towel in her hands. She had rung it out before I've the sink, but a few more drops came out. Miki pulled up Yuki’s hair as she felt her head. She was burning up.
“Don't!” Yuki started coughing for a moment before finishing her thought, now back to her quieter tone. “I don't want to get my kouhai sick…” She looked sad as she spoke.
Miki sighed as she put the wet towel on Yuki's head.
“I'm probably the one who got you sick. You have been here for a while and been fine, but as soon as you guys bring me back you get sick.”
“D-” Yuki began to yell before her body forced her to speak softer. “Don't speak like that. You were… if we didn't…” Yuki stopped, unable to finish her thought. Miki knew what she meant though. She probably would have died if Yuki hadn't ran over.
“You need to rest. Otherwise you'll be sick for longer.” Miki decided to change the subject.
“Can you pick up my homework? I've been missing class…” This again. Miki wanted to scream out that there were no classes, but now wasn't the time.
“I'm not in those classes. You can get them when you are feeling better. Your teachers will understand.” Miki felt nauseous as she spoke. She hated playing along, but she needed to talk to Kurumi and Yuuri first.
“Ok. Don't fall behind on your work while taking care of me.” Yuki looked intently at Miki. She seemed genuinely concerned. She was genuinely concerned.
“I won't… Do you need anything?”
“Some water?”
“Ok, I'll be back.” Miki left the room, trying to ignore the sinking feeling in her stomach. Hopefully Kurumi and Yuuri would be back soon.
