Summary:

You DATE your dresser for the first time.
You DATE your dresser for the first time.
You DATE your dresser for the first time.

Notes:

It's time for Daemon's First Date week event already? That crept up sooner than I thought it would, but better to do this unprepared than not at all. Let's go.

Chapter Text

Every morning since meeting Skylar Specs has started the same way: get up out of bed, open the curtains, and open the Roomers app on your phone to plan out which leads to follow that day. Your new Dateviator friend (or at least you consider her as such, even if she doesn't feel the same way yet) had encouraged you to DATE as many things around the house as you can. And you, lacking in anything better to do in this world, pursued that goal with single-minded determination. Going on further dates with the objects you've already met can wait until your Date-A-Dex has been filled to your satisfaction.

Since you'd seemingly ran Phoenicia and Maggie dry of Roomers early on, you've been going door to door to get new clues from your first true friend (well, second if you count Sam), Dorian. Yesterday, you spent your last Dateviator charge to talk to the threshold between your bedroom and the second-story hallway (not the first floor, no matter what he may claim), and given what he had to say, you were quite intrigued to meet the diary and the dresser.

The dresser... Dorian had warned you about it, saying it felt "off" to him. When you tried to question him further on it, you recall that he told you that he would rather not think about it any further, as it "sent chills up his posts". Truthfully, this only made you more curious to meet the animus that resided there. After all, what could've had such a stalwart door shaken up enough to feel the heebie-jeebies?

Your mind was set. The dresser would be your first date for the day, followed by the diary. It was right there next to you, so all it took was a movement of your head and a held button press. Simple as Onfj iun ijbufdj IJDHDGDHXXXXX

What.

You sit back down on the bed and rub your temples. You'd massage your inner ears, too, if you could just reach through your skull and touch them. They hurt, you think. They might, but it's hard to tell.

Well,

That was certainly intriguing.

As strange as it was, the non-presence at least seemed friendly. Kind. At least, that seems to be what your gut is thinking. If it can think.
(It does think. It's not called the gut-brain for nothing.)

...

As comfortable as Betty is, you cannot sit here forever. The diary is still waiting, and that charge won't spend itself. However, before you move on, you think it wise to quickly check your Date-A-Dex app on your phone first...

At first, you were relieved to see that it had the little red notification icon, but once you opened it up to take a look, there didn't appear to be any new entries at all. So it seemed you are not done with the dresser after all. Not yet. You'll have to use the Dateviators on the dresser again the next day.

Still, you can't say you mind that idea too much. Maybe you even look forward to it. It is a date, then.
