Chapter Text
The stone monkey jumps into the tree and scurries up the trunk until he reaches the very top where a juicy fruit is hanging.
It's not like anyone else would take it.
They would have by now if they wanted to.
The monkey grins then tugs the fruit off its stem.
He jumps down a few branches before stopping to stare.
The monkey peers down at the white-furred macaque. Who sits there staring into the ocean water.
The macaque has three sets of ears that seem to sparkle in the light of the sun.
He smiles then leaps down next to the macaque.
"Hello! You're new! I like your ears! What's your name! Do you like fruit, I like peaches! You look like a plum kind of guy! Im right, aren't I!"
The macaque, now on full alert at the sudden presence of the stone monkey, scoots away.
"You are very loud."
The stone monkey blinks.
"You know human language?"
"Yeah so...?"
"I haven't met any other monkey's that know it!"
"Huh..."
"Anyway! What's your name!"
"Liu Er Mihou..."
"Awesome! Im Monkey King!
"...that's not really a name, it's a title..."
"Oh... well how about you give me a name new friend!"
"We're not friend-... fine, give me a second..."
The stone monkey grins and scoots in front of Mihou.
Mihou's ears twitch and flick at every little sound the monkey makes.
"Táo."
"Táo?"
"Yes, that's your name now."
"Yay! Thanks bud!"
Táo jumps at Mihou and hugs him tightly. Mihou tenses.
"Let go of me." Mihou snarls out.
Táo blinks confused.
"What why?"
"I hate hugs... and anything that involves touching..."
"Oh sorry..."
Táo scoots back, guilt plastered across his face.
He holds the fruit out to him, a peach.
"Here, I was going to eat it but you should have it."
Mihou blinks at Táo and hesitates before grabbing the peach from him.
Táo scoots away until his back in resting against the tree. He pats the spot next to him.
Mihou stares for a few seconds before scooting to his side, a few inches separating them.
They sit there for a couple hours before eventually the sun sets under the waters edge and they both fall asleep underneath the peach tree in front of gentle ocean.
