Chapter Text
The night was dressed in gold.
Light spilled from towering chandeliers, scattering into a thousand tiny reflections across polished marble floors. Crystal strands shimmered softly, swaying with the faintest movement of air, like starlight captured indoors. The entire hall glowed—warm, radiant, flawless.
It was the kind of place where nothing imperfect was allowed to exist.
Every table was arranged with meticulous precision. Ivory silk cloth fell smoothly over the edges, untouched by a single crease. Fresh lilies and white roses were placed at the center, their fragrance subtle but expensive, blending seamlessly with the soft notes of instrumental music drifting through the hall.
Guests moved like part of the decoration.
Elegant gowns brushed the floor in quiet whispers. Tailored suits reflected understated luxury. Jewelry caught the light with every turn, every smile, every polite gesture.
Laughter filled the air.
Everyone is chatting with one another in small groups.
Just enough to show that everyone was enjoying themselves.
Just enough to maintain appearances.
“This wedding is on another level.”
“Of course it is. It’s Gao Ming’s only son.”
“I heard the groom’s family is even more influential.”
" Yes their alpha son is perfect."
" I don't think so."
"Why"
" I heard he is just like some rich brats who party alltime spend their family fortune and arrogant to the core."
" So what?, Isn't all rich heirs behave same. If they also start working hard then what's difference between them and us normal people."
" Yes, you are right once this marriage is done both families will have their assets multiply then who cares how these heirs behave."
“Hmm, a perfect alliance.”
“A perfect match.”
The words floated through the crowd, carried from one table to another, weaving a narrative everyone was eager to believe.
Perfection.
Status.
Power.
Tonight was not just a wedding.
It was a declaration of business alliance.
A strong knot to tie their fortune.
At the far end of the hall stood the stage.
Raised slightly above the ground, draped in white and gold, framed by cascading flowers and soft lights. A long aisle stretched toward it, lined with delicate arrangements and glowing candles, guiding the eye naturally toward where the ceremony would soon take place.
Everything is ready.
Everything is waiting for two people whose fate is going to be intertwin together.
Everything is exactly as it should be.
At least—
On the surface.
Then a tall man along with a charming young man stepped in from entrance. They both are strong build alphas. Their presence did not demand attention—yet it gathered it anyway.
There was a quiet authority in the way the tall man walked. His posture was straight, movements controlled, his gaze sharp but steady as it swept across the hall in a single glance.
“That’s Wu Yong.”
“The Chief?”
“Yes. Chief of Police.”
“Why is he here?”
“He must be a close acquaintance.”
“Chief Wu.”
A voice called out, warm and welcoming.
Wu Yong turned.
A man approached him, his smile wide, his posture friendly.
There was confidence in the way he carried himself—the kind built over years of success and influence.
“Gao Ming,” Wu Yong said.
Gao Ming extended his hand.
“It’s been a long time.”
Wu Yong accepted it firmly.
“It has.”
The two old friends hug eachother.
“ Finally you made it to here,” Gao Ming said, genuine relief slipping through his otherwise composed tone.
“I said I would.”
“You were always busy to meet your friends. Finally the police chief has time to meet his friend. If this is not a wedding of my son you won't make time for me ?”
Wu Yong allowed a faint smile.
“Why blaming me you are more busy one earning money every second.”
They continue their pleasantry remarks towards eachother until Gao Ming attention diverted to the young man who had accompanied Chief Wu here and left them as they started their conversation and now is fussing over food.
He asked Wu Yong who he is.
"He is my subordinate. He is captain of crime unit and also my apprentice."
" He seems to be very enthusiastic but don't seems like a captain of team. Look how he is eating." Gao Ming complains.
Wu Yong sighs and explains he is just like that seems to very immature but don't judge him like this he is very responsible and smart man.
