Work Text:
Each city, each town,
I whispered your name.
You thought you were far,
But now, I will claim.
You see me coming,
that's not a surprise.
I never pretended,
I never tried to hide.
You run, no matter
I’m coming, I follow,
The world shrinks to us;
come fill my hollow.
My body is stretching,
my steps fill with purpose.
Feet barely graze ground,
you are my purpose.
And that is the reason
I’ll run forever.
I invite you, outrun me
as long as you can.
But your fears, your tears,
mortality’s a cost.
What a shame, you are slowing.
And now you have lost.
