Rin stared at the two outfits laid out in front of her. One of them represents truth and the other a lie she upholds for the benefit of others. Her heart pounds in her chest as she stares at the two choices.
Can she really still do this? The act of burying her true self and desires just to avoid the possibility of someone else’s judgement.
She sighs and grabs the first outfit, pulling the shirt over her head and sliding her arms through the holes, but she freezes as she reaches for the skirt. Even something as simple as putting on this type of clothing pains her and she can feel the tears welling up in her eyes again.
Rin collapses, burying her face in the blankets of her bed. It’s just far too painful to keep living this lie and she fears she’ll do something stupid if this keeps going. She throws the skirt across the room, filled with a sudden sense of disdain for it. Rin lies like this for some time, her mind spiralling in cycles of sadness and hopelessness.
A breaking point is reached and suddenly the opinions and potential judgements mean nothing compared to personal comfort and freedom.
Len stands up, staring at his second outfit and a smile forms across his face as the tears dry. He pulls on his shirt and shorts. His heart pounds again but this time there is no pain or sadness, only an overwhelming feeling of joy at starting to accept who he is.
Some anxiety lingers in the back of his mind as he steps out of his room, feeling the presence of his friends nearby but he can’t keep lying to them or himself anymore. Len hopes his newfound trueness will resonate with his friends just as much as it does with him.
