Work Text:
The sun sets in the horizon, illuminating the meeting room in warm colors as it shines through the window. No one else is in the room except for Lena and Blue, however. Everyone else had already left, so the two decided to just stay behind and look out the window, just to see the view of Perses Colony from there.
It was initially silent, but eventually, Lena spoke up. “It’s nice to finally see all of this becoming a reality, don’t you think so, Blue?” Hearing her question, Blue can’t help but smile as he shifts his gaze to look at the one standing beside him. “Of course- though…” He trails off, eventually leaving his words unfinished. Lena looks at him with a faltering smile, realizing what he wants to say.
“They would’ve liked to see this.”
“Yes, but especially him.”
“... Ah.”
Right. Lena remembers now. She knows that Yonah, Gideon, and Miriam would’ve been happy to see the current state of the world now that the Peacemakers have been formed and reconciliation has been made, but she knows that Blue Stein knew someone else who would be happy to see all of this come true.
“Alkarius has told me in the past that he would’ve liked to live long enough to see all of this happening. I wonder how he would feel about this if he were still here.” Blue says, a fond smile resting on his face. His gaze is now back to the view outside of the window, but it looks rather…sad. Lena looks at him in sympathy, before moving a little closer to him.
“I…I think he’d be overjoyed to see this. He has stated just how much it would mean to him.” She responds, before adding, “But- I think more than anything, he’d be happy to have you be the one seeing all of this for him!” Blue spares Lena another glance, before chuckling. “And you too. Don’t forget to also give yourself some credit, Lena. You have worked hard to make this happen.” He says, and to that, Lena looks away bashfully.
“Haha…yeah. Thank you.”
“We should leave now. It’s getting quite late. You should give yourself some time to rest.”
“O-oh! Of course!”
As the two make their way out of the meeting room, Blue gives the view outside one last glance. His expression was neutral for a moment, but eventually, a smile comes back to his face as he silently thinks one more thing;
We’ve achieved what you’ve always wished for. You can rest well now, Alkarius.
