Ellie Davies is lying in a hospital bed 5 days overdue with Baby Davies. Arnie is with her reassuring that it isn't gonna be hopefully too much longer. Her contractions started earlier that morning as she just finished breakfast. As Arnie was timing the contractions they were coming very quickly so Arnie grabbed the overnight bag which was full of babygrows, nappies wipes and also fresh clothes for Ellie and Arnie and got into the car making sure Ellie was securely in first and then Arnie got in and drove to the hospital. Just as she arrived she felt her waters break and Arnie ran in to get a nurse who helped Ellie into the wheelchair and a contraction hits.
With Ellie onto the bed the nurse checks the baby's vitals and heartrate and also checks Ellie's blood pressure. All seems to be well and the midwife checks to see how far Ellie is dilated and the nurse says that she is about 6cm dialated. Midwife speaks "I know it can be frustrating Ellie and usually this happens with first babies that it takes longer to give birth. There is one certainy though that you will not be waiting much longer." "You can get up and walk round or sway a bit from side to side see if it gets the baby moving. I will be back later to check on you but if you start to feel strong contractions let me know and Ill be in."
The couple say thank you to Midwife.
Ellie gets up and walks as Arnie sits at the chair at the corner. She tries to get her legs going by walking and swaying. Arnie then gets up and joins her and reassures her the baby will be here soon and just then a contraction kicks in and Arnie being the good husband he is lets Ellie hold on to his shoulders as she tries to catch her breath. "That's it Ellie breathe, do you want me to rub your back?" Ellie nods and she turns towards the bed and as she puts her hands on the bed Arnie gently rubs her back with his right hand and holds her left hand with his their wedding rings shining from the light. "Hmmm Arnie the back rub seems to be helping a bit but it seems a long contraction." Ellie states as she grimaces with the strong contraction. Arnie takes her in an embrace and tries to help her breathe and puts her head to his and says "Ellie your a strong woman and I know you will do this. I am here by your side and love you dearly and I cannot wait to see our baby the one we made together." Feeling reassured and smiling Ellie and Arnie sneaks a kiss to each others lips and then she says "Oh Arnie I love you dearly, you have been by my side the entire time since I found out I was expecting our baby, I cannot wait to see our baby and be a happy family."
As Ellie's contractions get stronger and closer together the midwife comes in and checks her and says "Well Mrs Davies your fully dilated that is why your contractions were growing stronger. You have been in labour for about 12 hours now and I know you are probably exhausted." The midwife explains to the couple "we are very likely looking at a big baby here and we will try to see if Ellie can give birth vaginally but if she gets exhausted and the baby's heart rate drops we may have to consider a C-Section." Ellie is worried as a C-section is the last thing she wants but understands at the same time its a vital option for the sake of her health and the baby's health as well.
As they set Ellie up in the bed she is wearing a vest top but nothing else and Arnie is beside her holding her hand and rubbing her forehead, reassuring her and as she turns to look at him Arnie says "This is Ellie the baby is almost here, I am here for you and I am not letting go of your hand, if you need to squeeze it really hard do so." Ellie smiles as the loved up couple kiss but as they do she feels the urge to push. Midwife gets ready and says to Ellie "Now when your ready push down on your bottom and we will help you." As Ellie pushes she lets out a small scream as the midwife encourages her to keep going. "Ok Breathe and lets go Ellie your doing well." Squeezing her husbands hand to the brink of it losing feeling she gives another push and then breathes again. Ellie in tears with the pain says to Arnie "I don't know if I can do this much longer I am exhausted and tired." Arnie reassuringly says to her. "Ellie your almost there just a couple of more pushes and thats it and lean on me if you need to." Ellie Smiles "Thank you Arnie, I would not have been able to do this without you and with her free hand she cups his cheek and rubs it with her fingers. "Quick kiss to ease the stress?" He asks. Ellie nods the head and he leans in for a couple of quick kisses to her lips. Ellie feels another push coming. After 3 more pushes Ellie is exhausted but delighted as Baby Davies is finally here.
The midwife and nursing team wrap the baby in towels and then say. "Congratualtions Mr and Mrs Davies you have a beautiful baby daughter." and Arnie cuts the cord. He starts to cry as Ellie rubs his arm. "Oh Arnie are you getting sentimental, I love you so much Arnie I cannot believe she is here our daughter." Arnie looks at Ellie "darling I am so so proud of you and I love you so much and I am just so happy in life now, I have two princesses to spoil, my wife and now of course our daughter. " she smiles as they romantically kiss. After the baby is cleaned she is handed to Ellie and they get skin to skin contact. As Arnie sits beside Ellie in the bed with his arm around her shoulder he gazes down at his newborn daughter. Dark haired and beautiful blue eyes. "She is gorgeous our little one just like her mother." Ellie says to Arnie "What shall we call our daughter." He thinks and says "What about Charlotte Eleyna Arlene Davies?" Ellie is crying happy tears as her name is going to be her daughters middle name. "Arnie I am happy with that name it is beautiful."
Ellie is finally able to get a good nights sleep as baby Charlotte is in the baby bed beside her and Arnie has gone home for the night. Next morning with the help of the nurses and midwife Ellie is able to get up and get refreshed with a new fresh clothes and a nursing bra which is easy to tale off as she breast feeds Charlotte. After feeding Charlotte, Arnie comes in with a big smile on his face with a bunch of flowers for Ellie and he places a quick kiss to her on the lips "Hows my darling wife and our baby Charlotte?" Ellie replies "I got a great night sleep and fed our Charlotte and shes cooing away in her bed." Arnie goes around and lifts Charlotte out of the baby bed and takes her in his arms making sure her head is at the crook of his arm. He then goes around and sits down on the bed beside Ellie. Both look at the bundle of joy the made together out of pure love, the baby that was conceived no doubt on the night of their Valentines wedding. The midwife asks the couple "Would yous like a photograph of you all together?" The couple happily agree and Arnie gives the midwife the Camera and she takes at least 3 pictures of the happy couple and the baby. Arnie in a dark blue buttoned up shirt and kahki trousers with Ellie in a grey vest top with nursing bra underneath and grey shorts on and Baby Charlotte in a sweet baby gro. One of the pictures has Arnie and Ellie both having their arms around the baby and another has Arnie with his arm around Ellie's shoulder as she holds Charlotte and the couple have their heads together smiling.
Later that day Ellie, Arnie and Baby Charlotte are all settled and the Midwife comes in to check on Ellie and Charlotte. "Well Ellie everything seems to be going well. You will be sore and probably bleed a little bit but thats normal after a woman gives birth and little Charlotte is thriving here. I will be delighted that you and Charlotte can go home tomorrow." Ellie and Arnie both smile at the news and look forward to bring their beautiful daughter home. The next morning Ellie feeds Charlotte and burps her as Arnie comes in. "My two sweethearts" he says as he comes in, he gives Ellie a kiss then he takes charlotte into his arms and sways her gently from side to side as a smiling Ellie looks on. Ellie and Arnie get packed up and baby Charlotte is wrapped with a white hat and a baby suit in yellow and is strapped into the baby carrier which Arnie happily carries down the hallway as Ellie takes a photo of the happy moment of her husband carrying their daughter in the carrier.
As Arnie and Ellie arrive home they get Charlotte out of the car and bring her into the house as Arnie carries the overnight bag as well. The house is now filled with a lot more love now that it is a family home. Later that evening with Ellie taking it easy and the couple finished with dinner they watch tv as Charlotte is being breastfed. Brit Ten News comes on and they see the annoucement made by the news reader "Just before we finish this evening bulletin we have a happy announcement to make, our wonderful weather man Arnie Davies and his wife Ellie who is a journalist here are now parents to a beautiful girl who was born 2 days ago on November 19th at 9:34pm. The baby has been called Charlotte Eleyna Arlene Davies and weighed 9 pounds 15 ounces." "We have been told mum and baby are doing very well and also Arnie has been jumping for joy. From all the staff and the viewers of Brit Ten News we send them a big congratulations. We look forward to seeing Charlotte with her mummy at some point." As they sign off the news for the evening Charlotte finishes feeding but Arnie says to Ellie "May I?" She hands Charlotte to Arnie and he rubs his daughters back. Little Charlotte has her mums dark hair and her dads blue eyes and charm. As Arnie manages to get Charlotte to burp she falls asleep on his shoulder. Ellie smiles at this sight. "Seems you have the touch daddy." He smiles back and kisses his wife on the lips. As Arnie puts Charlotte to bed they get ready for bed themselves. Tucking in for the night Arnie wraps an arm around his wife and the two kiss and embrace. "Can't believe this is real now, we have our own little girl now and I look forward to spoiling her." Arnie states. Ellie smiles, kisses Arnie tenderly and gently. "I am so happy, I have a wonderful romantic husband and a baby to raise and hopefully more in the future but will concentre on Charlotte for now."
As the couple settle down to try and get much sleep before Charlotte wakens up during the night they look forward to the future and with hopefully more kids o the cards.
