Mercury and Pluto stared at the rushing waterfall before them in confusion, they had received a request from Chatot to find said waterfall, saying it had a secret and spent what felt like hours crawling through dungeons to get to it.
“So…this is the waterfall we’ve been looking for?” Pluto asked, lightly tilting his head. “I think we have to go through it.”
But as the shinx walked up and put his paw at the water, the sheer speed and pressure nearly stung him! Pluto yelped and stumbled back near Mercury who nervously kneeled down to check if he was ok.
“I-I’m ok..but the water is pounding down!” Pluto cried, so Mercury curiously walked up and attempted to touch it. She was a water type, so maybe she had a better chance, but alas, she did not and felt the same sting.
“He’s right…there’s no way we could make it through without getting ourselves hurt.” Mercury thought, but soon the Piplup felt a flash, and her vision changed. Now she was still at the waterfall, but a shadowy figure was there too..it was dark so it was hard for her to identify the Pokémon, but the silhouette took a few steps back, and ran straight into the waterfall! Once the mysterious Pokémon landed, they seemed to be in some sort of cave..
Right after Mercury was snapped back into reality by Pluto gently shaking her. “Mercury! Mercury! Are you ok?!” He asked as she slowly got up and nodded “Did you have another one of those weird visions?”
He was right, this wasn’t the first time something like this had happened, “I did..” Mercury mumbled “I..I saw a Pokémon, and they made it into the waterfall. There was a cave behind it.
“What?! A cave?!” Pluto gasped as Mercury nodded “They got in by running towards it and leaping through.” Pluto tilted his head, “So…does that mean we should do the same?” He asked “It’s probably the best choice we have.” Mercury replied.
Pluto gulped and stared up at the rushing waterfall, so say he was nervous was an understatement, what if they weren’t strong enough to get through? What if one of them tripped and fell into the water below? What if there wasn’t even a cave at all? Mercury looked at her teammate, noticing his fear. So she came up with an idea.
“What if I hold your paw while we jump in? Would that make you feel braver?” She asked, holding out her fin.
Pluto looked back at her in surprise, not expecting the offer. “Are you sure?..” He asked “I’m sure of it, and I promise to not let go until we’re on the other side.” She said, giving a gentle smile.
Pluto’s nerves eased a bit. Mercury wasn’t the most talkative person but she was so kind and understanding to him despite his cowardliness, his eyes sparked up in determination as he grabbed his teammate’s open fin. “O-On the count of three…we’ll go, ok?” He checked “Right, I’m ready when you are.” Mercury reassured
“Ok..” Pluto said, the team taking a deep breath and holding onto each other as tightly as possible.
“One..”
“Two…”
“THREE!”
The two ran and jumped into the waterfall hand in hand, ready to take on whatever was behind it all.
