Chapter Text
Obi-Wan
Sitting on the bench staring at a blank gray wall, as the ship rattled around him as it shot through hyperspace. It was a smaller model than the Star destroyers he was used and a lot less colorful, defence corp ships were very colorful on their insides and outsides with murals and fun paintings done by the children, rather than the drab gray of republic ships. The ship jolted as it dropped out of hyperspace shaking him from his thoughts. Looking behind him through the view port he saw mandalore in its sandy exterior far from the green lush jungle which it had been centuries before. Watching as the ship descended he sighed and pulled on the padawan braid that the temple jedi wore, it was so itchy and uncomfortable he didn't know how the templings did anything with the stupid braid marking them like a brand to slaver, like hello i’m force sensitive and a great catch. The ship touched down and he stood grabbing the two bags he had stashed under the seat. Walking out into the cargo hold he nodded to Depa the templing who also got stuck placating the Mandolorians after the republic despite the jedi resisting and telling them its not a good idea still attacked the Mandolorians on Galdrin and in the fall out like usual the republic blamed the jedi and they got offered up like a lamb on a platter to the wolves. The cargo hold opened onto a warm brightly lit day. The four republic guards surrounded them, keeping the Mandolorians out as much as keeping him in. He could feel their apprehension directed at him in the force to be fair to them he had tried to escape when they told him he had to go to Mandalore as a sacrifice. He walked forward in line with Depa onto the landing zone, his eyes on the ground, feeling around in a cursory search with the force he felt the amount of mandolorians who were watching him like a tooka might watch a nuna. Stopping in front of the mand’alor he looked up from the ground. The mand’alor was in red, green, gray, and a touch of gold and silver on the edges. Honoring a parent, reliability or duty, mourning, vengeance, and redemption were good goals for a leader he mused. The teenager next to him was in the same colors but with justice black and new start white on the vambrances komroks he remembered. Depa next to him held her mental sheilds tight, curiously he let his war sheilds down he hadn't realized he put them up and let the waves of hatred, curiosity, and animosity wash over him, putting a lighter version back up. He was so used to blocking people's hatred, suffering, and general emotions out as a Padawan commander he hadn’t realized. The mand’alor finished looking over them,
“Good afternoon” he said in accented basic “You will stay under house mreels protection for the duration of your stay, you will go to school with the other children.”
He held out his hand “we will keep your lightsabers for the duration of your stay”
Depa seemed to shrink into herself he could understand the templings weren't used to going without their lightsabers huffing internally he reached for the lightsaber on his belt, he had grabbed the dress lightsaber randomly not caring what color it was, he had grabbed from the shadow disguise room along with other things like a fake padwan braid. Dropping the lightsaber in the Mand’alors outstretched hand. It was an ostentatious thing made of platinum and gold more like a templings lightsaber than his which was plain durasteel and obsidian or any defence corp members lightsabers made of easy to replace parts. Depa followed his lead by dropping her personal one into the Mand’alors hand. It closed around the lightsabers.
Depa
The defence corp member was weird, she thought. He sat next to her on the bench but for the entire trip through Keldabe kept his gaze firmly forward staring at the back of the heads of the driver and guards who took them to Keldabe Keep. It was like he was meditating. His name was Padawan Commander Obi Wan Kenobi, he had been drug to the ship which brought them to Mandalore by the republic guards. Depa had heard all sorts of things about defence corps through the temple gossip system; their bloodthirsty nature, that they had been trained to be assassins, that they lived in war; she was nervous to be with one on a long mission. The speeder landed and he stood immediately, posture perfectly military straight. Grabbing her bags out from under her seat, Depa walked behind him as he disembarked the speeder keeping her steps mesured. The next wave of hatred battered her shields as she walked out into the courtyard, but he looked unaffected. The Mand’alor led them silently through Keldabe Keep. The keep was weird; it had walls of stone and narrow windows with blast doors everywhere. The walls felt suffocating pressing on her skin like an unwanted blanket, the force was unnaturally muffled like being underwater. The Mand’alor led them through a maze of tunnels pointing out rooms like,
“The kitchen you’re not allowed in there.” “The library enter at your own risk.” “Training hall only enter when invited.” “Dining hall we hold all meals there.”
She felt so lost through all of the maze of hallways, courtyards, and rooms. Finally he led them to a hallway full of doors and stopped outside of one, Pointing at her he stated “Your room.”
Then he pointed at another door right to the left of hers and pointed at Obi-Wan
“Your room.”
“Both of your rooms lock but can be opened if needed. Input a code to enter and that will be your code to enter the room.” Pointing to the light beside the keypad on the room which glowed green.
“Durring the night the light be green if you have not left your room, Yellow if you have left and returned, red if you have left and not returned. They must stay green.”
Gulping She Nodded.
“Dinner is in 2 hours, wait here to be led”
After stating that the Mand’alor turned on his heel and left. Entering her rooms Depa looked around. It was a plain room with a small kitchenette containing a cooling unit, heating plate and a sink. Looking in the cupboards she found glasses, plates and cutlery. The Kitchenette opened into a sitting room with a tall counter with chairs separating them, the sitting room had a sunken couch in the middle with a large window with a small balcony that overlooked a courtyard. There were two doors connected to the main area. One was a fresher the other a bedroom, with a bed sitting in the center, a chest at its foot, it was empty. There were also closets which contained more sheets and an weapons and armor rack, shutting the closets, she dropped her packs in the bedroom, walking out into the main room she sat on the window seat which sat in front of the large window and stopped when it hit the door for the balcony, she settled into a meditation pose, closing her eyes she let her thoughts drift.
Obi-Wan
Setting a code for the door to his room, he walked in and dropped his packs in the entry way. And walked towards the bedroom throwing open the door he walked in and opened the closets finding a armor and weapons rack without any weapons he noted unhappily, the chest was also empty but had a ray shield emitter in the bottom. The sitting room and kitchenette were also similarly bare except for cutlery and dishes in the kitchenette and the ray shield emitter in the middle of the sunken couch area under the caff table which if you took off the table top had another area to store weapons. Taking another look around the rooms checking for listening or recording devices and seeing if he could find any weapons. Finding no listening or recording devices or weapons he grabbed his packs, opening them he pulled out his lightsabers and set them next to him. Next a camping cook set, a bed roll, 4 boxes of 500 ration bars, lightsaber repair kit, 4 blasters, a collection of knives in a range of sizes from his handwidth to his pinky. After that his armor came out, made of cortoisis, selenium, and other metals, It was painted a beautiful dark blue ish teal with silver clouds and lightning across the surface, made to move like it wasn't there the interlocking parts made the storm clouds seem alive. His pauldrons had the defense corp symbol two lightsaber crossing in front of a shield with a star and wings around it and pugil in a circle all around, his ship symbol the Unrelenting’s symbol was an outline of the ship with two vine snakes biting each other's tail, His family symbol the jedi symbol surrounding a shriek hawk, and his rank symbol which denoted him as a padawan commander a star surrounded by purgil with one light saber across it. After his armor came various other weapons mixed in with standard defense corp sleep wear, body suits, exercise wear, poncho, and other various clothes, after those came two sets of standard jedi robes, a set of formal robes, and defence corp formal dress. In his second pack he took out caff, tea, food stuffs, multiple round pieces of wood, a kettle, tea set, eight data pads and twelve styluses, slicing materials, tracking devices, listening device, video device blankets, some plant seeds, ten coms in various shapes and sizes, and other various materials. He sighed realizing he was surrounded by a mess of stuff. Picking up his weapons, slicing and spying materials, and bedroll and put them in the chest with the weapons at the bottom spying materials on top of them and bed roll and other sheets for the bed which he had filched from the closet at the very top. Leaving one data pad and two styluses out. The standard templing clothes got hung up in the closet and the defence corp clothes went back into a pack and put at the bottom of the closet. The camping cook set was separated into a heating element which was put under the sink with a water pouch and 2 boxes of ration bars, cooking dishes mixed in with the provided cooking dishes, dishes and utensils were mixed in with provided, and food and drink stuff were put in cabinets and cooling unit in the kitchen. His armor and knives went into the storage area under the caff table along with another box of ration bars. The blankets went to the sunken couch and window seat along with the ones he filched from the closet in the bedroom . The plant seeds went onto the balcony in the small storage area. And one of the packs got assembled into a school bag which he put a data pad, two stylus’s, 100 ration bars, an extra templing cloak, a poncho, lock picks, and 4 knives hidden in the stuff. Looking around he adjusted anything which looked out of place and surveyed his work. Finally he grabbed his lightsabers and disassembled them both kybers turned into earrings and the metal into pieces on his body and jewelry. Glancing at the chronometer he noticed one hour and thirty minutes has lapsed and quickly grabbed the formal templing robes, taking a quick sonic he dressed pulling on leggings, figuring out how the kark the tabards and obi worked, hiding knives where he could, and pulling on the outer cloak. His kybers hummed in his ears as he redid the fake braid, noting it was missing nearly all his beads, and checked that all his hair was pulled back into a nerf tail. Walking out his door he waited for whomever to come collect him for dinner.
