Work Text:

“Ugh spoiled brats suck!” Aiden shouted into the air, as he walked into his house. Collapsing face first on the couch he sighed.

“Oh well looks like my prince charming has finally come home,” Tom jokingly sang before laughing upon seeing the sight.

“Not funny Tom,” Aiden rolled his eye, though hearing his boyfriend’s voice made him feel just a little bit better.

“I could feel that eyeroll from here.” Tom laughed again before sitting next to Aiden and placing a hand on his back. “What happened this time?”

Aiden sighed and repositioned himself into a sitting position. Adjusting himself so his head now laid on Tom’s shoulder. Tom, wrapped an arm around Aiden, pulling him close. Aiden laid there for a moment taking it all in. There was something about Tom that had a calming effect on the younger man.

“Being a Party Prince sucks!” Aiden groaned once he had calmed down. “Do you know how times I get asked to sing Let it Go? Too many!”

“You don’t even look like Elsa!”

“Exactly!” Aiden hugged Tom tightly and snuggled into him. “Hmm, I feel better already.”

“Guess I have the magic touch.” Tom kissed Aiden on the head. “Think you got some extra energy for a special night?”

Aiden raised an eyebrow as Tom pulled two tickers from his pocket. Slowly Aiden took them and saw The Great Gatsby on them.

“Surprise! I got tickets to the show with that Jeremy Jordans guys you love!” Tom grinned widely.

“I can’t believe it…” Aiden gasped.

“I knew you’d love it! Don’t worry, I didn’t break the bank with them. Even if I did, you’re worth it.” Tom kissed Aiden on the head again. “I bet Jeremy Jordans sounds better in person.”

“Um hate to be the barrier of bad news, but Jeremy Jordan isn’t in the touring show.” Aiden rubbed the back of his. “But I am still very excited for this! Seeing The Great Gatsby in person is going to be amazing! I’ve heard so many good things about it.”

“Dang it, I got his name wrong!” Tom slapped his forehead. “And you talk about him all the time!”

“No don’t slap yourself. I don’t want any bruises on that pretty face.” Aiden cupped Tom’s face before kissing him. “I love it! Thank you!”

As there were still a few hours before they had to leave. Tom made the two of them a quick dinner while Aiden showered. And by made, he warmed up some leftovers in the microwave.

The two of them proceeded to have a nice dinner together. Tom letting Aiden rant about his day, mostly spoiled kids. Tom proceeding to promise that their kids wouldn’t be like that. For some reason, he called them Abigail, which Aiden had to agree it fit.

Once that was done, the two cleaned up and changed into some fancy clothes.

“Oh hello there,” Tom said upon seeing Aiden. “I don’t remember dating a prince.”

“Stop!” Aiden tried to brush Tom off, but his face was bright red.

“I mean it.” Tom held out his arm. “Are you ready Prince Charming?”

Aiden linked his arm with Tom’s.

“Of course, Sir Tom.”

The two laughed as they walked to the car. Tom being the gentleman he is, opened the door for Aiden. Who rolled his eyes but accepted.

Once in the car Aiden opened up his Spotify to put on some music. Of course he choose his Broadway playlist.

“Is this from the musical?” Tom asked as he got in.

“No.” Aiden said organizing the playlist. “We’re gonna listen to the soundtrack on the way home though.”

“Work for me.” Tom shrugged the best he could while driving.

Luckily the drive to the city wasn’t too bad and they left with plenty of time to get there. Getting a parking spot close enough to the theater, that wasn’t too expensive.

“I can’t believe I’m actually going to see The Great Gatsby!” Aiden said as he exited the car, the realization fully hitting him as he did. Taking Tom’s arm again, the two of them walked towards the theater.

As they walked in, they saw various people also seeing the show. Chatter of excitement filling the lobby.

“Hope no one spoils this thing,” Tom said looking around.

“Did you not read the book in high school?” Aiden asked, raising an eyebrow. “I remember reading it. Those damn eyes…”

“I’ve been out of high school longer than you.” Tom pointed out before mumbling. “Also, English wasn’t my favorite subject…”

“Aww don’t be ashamed babe…” Aiden paused. “Wait you didn’t see the version with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire!”

“It wasn’t out when I was in high school.” Tom raised his arms up. “If it was, I probably would have remembered it better.”

Aiden had to agree to the point, but before they could continue the doors to the theater opened. The two of them walked to their seats, which to Aiden’s surprise was not in the nosebleed section.

“Are you sure you didn’t break the bank?” Aiden asked nervously.

“I can show you the receipt if you want.” Tom took out his phone and waved it a little.

“No, no it’s fine.” Aiden sat down in his seat. “I appreciate it you know.”

“Of course.” Tom sat down next to Aiden. “You deserve a nice night out.”

“We haven’t had one in while.” Aiden rubbed his arm a bit. “Life has been busy.”

“Yeah.” Tom placed his hand over Aiden’s. “But it makes me appreciate these moments all the more.”

“Same here.”

The two looked each other in the eyes for a second. Feelings of love filling them immensely. No matter what life threw at them, they had each other and in all honesty, it is what they needed. Slowly the two leaned into each other and shared a kiss as the lights dimmed. The music began playing and Aiden grinned widely. Tom smiled at his boyfriend before leaning into him. Sure, this night was to cheer up Aiden, and make him happy. But along as he smiled, as long as he had Aiden, for Tom life was worth living.
